Great!! But I don't understand those informations like the weight without the tripod mount... its normal to have this on those big lenses. I love 300 2.8. I m a Canon guy and its nice to see what is possible. I think Canon will also bring a 1,5kg 300 2.8 "soon". Have fun with it Sony friends :)!

4 customisable buttons is amazing new thing but i was expected also one customisable ring like in the new canon Z(for canon R camera) lenses

13 years after the launch of the Sony E mount there was no telephoto prime lens for less than €12,000 and thanks to this very first compact and lightweight one, the first price decreases to €6,700 (with a beautiful 300 mm / 2.8 = 107 mm front lens) it's a miracle. On the other hand, about the 200-600 zoom (with front lens 600 mm / 6.3 = 95 mm almost as large) we must stop selling it at a loss at €1700... but perhaps zoom lenses are easier to manufacture than prime lenses ?

I’ll pay money for a firmware update. There is nothing holding back the A1 other than it’s locked down firmware to protect the A7IV (no focus breathing comp) A9iii (no Pre-Capture) a7C (no Animal/bird eye AF in video) & A7RV (Focus Stacking in body) it’s all firmware... the A1 has the hardware and its crippled because nobody has jailbroken it

@@himangshumahanta5398 not animal/bird eye AF, not Pre-Capture, not Focus Stacking in camera.... it’s a joke of a “firmware update”. A1 should of received focus breathing comp in Dec of 2021, but the original a7C got (animal/bird eye AF in video) instead. For 2 years now the original a7C has had better wildlife video features than the A1

I think this will be fantastic but the other manufacturers now have this in much more versatile zooms. If you make a 100-300 2.8 I'll be in. Don't fall behind on glass

Perhaps, however the Sony 300 2.8 GM is USD$3,500 less than the Canon 100-300 2.8 and the Sony weighs 1,120 grams less that the Canon 100-300 2.8.
