why does canon screw up on the crap HDMI port for the R5c and why are many R5, R6 and now R3's locking up/freezing?

Just put the same Dual pixel CMOS II in video mode that we already loved on the original R5.... adapt it to the cinema OS.... and also... you could have found a way to have IBIS and a way to deactivate it for those who don't like it or when rigging this R5c on cars..

Depending on where you buy it, the C70 is 500-1000 EUR more expensive than the R5C and has no photo shooting capabilities at all. If you're not interested in photos, then the C70 it might be.

@@jsleger3404 actually it does, according to many CLog2 vs Clog3 comparison on KZfaq and the web… most found it adds an additional +1 stop.

Why would a motion picture operator or videographer shooting anything on a gimbal need IBIS? IBIS is def not a dream addition on a Cinema camera for many. Hopefully not for the future either. Just don't see many Cinematographers ever asking for it. One of the most rented Cine cameras, the EOS C70 has no IBIS.

Most cinematographers don't use IBIS... internal ND would have been a nice addition though.

You can get internal ND filters, if you use EF lenses and the adapter with ND filters, which was conflicting with IBIS in the R5 anyhow. Additionally, IBIS is fragile for video use. In any fast moving scene, it would be counter productive, so it makes totally sense, that Canon removed it for the R5C. You still have electronic stabilisation and IS lens stabilisation for those lenses that have it.

Better still, make RP2, NO recording limits. Can live without 8k. Proper HDMI port. IBIS. 24-30MP. Proper Ultra 4k. Sensor guard when off. Get that damn LP E17 battery out of there and stick in an LPE6. And under €1500 and I'm in.

no ibis and you need to connect to an external power supply before recording 8k 60p, it has a fan with perforated holes for air flow compromising weather sealing

@@heartshapedfilms RF 16mm will be 24mm in C70's Super35 sensor. I meant c70 needs something like EF-S 10-18mm or EF-M 11-22mm.

@@ShehryarAhmed39 Of course, posterize time for framerate and CC Force Motion Blur for blur samples and shutter angle. But, when a camera gives if it to you, you have more control over shutter speed, aperture and all and you can experiment. The more we get on the shoot always gets a more natural effect. Post is for what you cant achieve for any reason. Its everyone's choice, but this is my preference. Secondly, your render gets slower and file size could be higher. So you end up first rendering twice, one for frame rate and one for other post

I think it has got the same battery as the R5. Now that there is a new fan in the R5C, I think a battery grip is the best solution. Too bad they didn't design it to fit the R3 battery.

It will have a crop, or won't work at all depending on how they set it up, EF-S lenses don't project a full frame image.

In all honesty, if you're switching on a regular basis, are you really ever going to hit that overheating threshold on the R5 or the 30 min limit per clip ? Isn't the R5 already that solution for you ?

@@Marlow925 on hot days it was definitely an issue. I did a model shoot out at Nellis Dunes in 95+ degrees. I only did photos for about 20 minutes and when I went to switch, I already had red zeros for 4K60. After getting the Kolari Vision heat mod installed, it definitely helped, but still had some days that the heat got the better of the camera.

@Carl Miller I get your point that technology advances but I’m more cynical, I believe they have intentionally moved to a new lens design and screwed over existing customers purely with a profit motive in mind. I don’t want to adapt, there’s nothing stopping them from making another couple of generations of 5D for those who have invested so much money into the ‘pro L lenses’. The adapters are slow and cumbersome in my experience so far. Good luck with your switch, I think I’ll move to Sony and pick up some nice Sigma Art glass.

@@JamesOversteer The EOS R5 is the 5D Mk5. The EOS R actually was the gateway drug ... as in the Mk4 in mirrorless. It's a dying market. And in all honesty, adapting your EF lenses to a R body has more advantages than you think. Like filters in the adapter for example, which you can't do with the native RF lenses.

@Nithin Chandran Ahh, thanks for the clarification. That's what the "5 axis stabilisation" they mentioned is then? It will be interesting. It looks like it's already in a few of their cameras now so it might be worth looking into those reviews to get an idea. I wonder why they did it? Cripple hammer so you still need an R5? Or to make it priced below the C70 so it fit in that spot? Or was it because of that wobble effect on the IBIS?

@@benmcphee4401 They did it for cooling reasons and because in film making, when we're talking fast moving action scenes and the likes, it's likely to be counter productive and simply going to fail. That and the fact, that in those cases a gimbal is used anyhow.

@@petrub27 The big budget movies will always go for the "IBM" what I mean by that, at 90's there was as good or even better computers than IBM, half the price, but big companies still went for IBM, that took a long time to change. So we will be seeing ARRI and RED for long time on the big budget movies and the primary reason is not the image quality.

@@marioskarageorgiou6758 I'm not sure, 8k vs 4k, Higher RAW capture rate, full frame vs 35mm and speedbooster, all cheaper timecode in & out vs. just timecode in...This is a lot for a cheaper price; I can see my C70 value dropping quickly.

@@alvinburrell First of all we are talking here for a dedicated cinema camera vs a hybrid milc body. That translates to built-in XLRs, 10 stops of NDs, a more ergonomic cinema body to work with and mostly an image from a DGO sensor that it's not even comparable with any milc body from Canon! Go 3 stops underexposure with R5C and check what image you can bring back. We are talking here for a sensor that is borrowed from the amazing C300 Mark III. Also 3 different qualities of Raw video are coming to C70 in March as you may already know. Now if you are a hybrid shooter and want one body for everything then R5C may be the best option for you BUT for me my C70 and R6 are the best tools to work with my needs!

@@marioskarageorgiou6758 I guess we will have to see the real world images to assess. The ND filters, are definitely a plus and the overall dynamic range may be a plus too (but bear in mind the top end C500 Mk II is a full frame non DGO sensor and I have not heard anyone complaints about dynamic range. I'm keeping the C70 but a 2nd camera may be the R5c. A C70 and R6 is a great combination but if you were going to purchase 2 cameras again would you do the same? Just curious.

@@alvinburrell C500 Mark II has a sensor also designed for cinema and video in mind. These sensors have different tech than sensors from photo camera bodies and we are talking for 16k cinema body. Yes with the budget limit to 6k I would take the same road and go for c70 w/o any regrets! I had numerous DSLRs in the past like 550d/5d2/5d3/5d4 and c100 mark II since 2015. Always my beloved C100 was providing amazing images that DSLRs could not. The time I sold my c100 and bought c70, I really amazed myself by a lot! The image from c70 is unbelievable in that price range! If I could put aside a camera next to my c70 is my bmpcc6k pro which for cinema work (shorts mostly) is an incredible cinema tool. BUT the most thing that matters to me is image quality and bringing back shadows and highlights and that is a sector that C70 is unbeatable. Now regarding to my R6, I would love to be able to have R5 instead BUT my budget didn't allow it by that time.
