Podcast of Champions

Күн бұрын

In this episode of the Podcast of Champions hosts Ryan Abraham and David Woods are in studio for the official launch of the new version of the POC, where we shift from covering Pac-12 football (RIP) to covering Big Ten football. Dave and Ryan will now focus on this new super conference, with former Pac-12 programs Oregon, Washington, UCLA and USC joining the 14 existing Big Ten schools.
Even though Ryan and Dave are the foremost authorities on all things B1G, they are bringing special guest Bill Bender from the Sporting News to spread more Legends and Leaders knowledge as we head into Big Ten media days next week. Bill will discuss some of the major storylines from the off-season including rule changes, the coaching carousel, roster turnover, high profile matchups on the schedule and the overall integration of the Pac-4 into the Big Ten culture.
As usual Ryan and Dave end the podcast answering listener emails and questions from the KZfaq chat.
This is a video simulcast of the Podcast of Champions podcast.

Oregon's offense is built on running the ball successfully. And because they have a great running game, the passing game becomes easier. We can ground and pound with the B1G teams. Our team is built from the trenches out. Signed, a Duck fan.

Oregons football program is also almost entirely built on the backs of 12 year old Pakistani children working in sweatshops

Easy to get to from LAX: Minnesota, Maryland, Ohio State, Mich, Northwestern Little bit of a hike after you land but not too bad(1-1.5 hours) : Wisconsin from Milwaukee/O'Hare, Rutgers from Newark/Philly/JFK/LaGuardia/Trenton, Purdue/Indiana from Indianapolis, Sparty from Detroit, Nebraska via Omaha, Iowa via Cedar Rapids(yes, they have a direct flight from LAX) Middle of nowhere but the traffic isn't bad: Illinois from O'Hare, Midway, STL Middle of nowhere but the traffic is terrible : Penn State from anywhere in PA, NYC,MD.

Try clips of Big Ten fight songs for teams w mascots that aren't drop-friendly. Mich. St., Wisc., Ohio St., Mich. & Indiana have great fight songs. Northwestern: old Wazzu 'meow' drop, initially, provided Northwestern doesn't keep averaging 7 wins a year. Penn St.: old growl drop for Az./WSU. Rutgers: a sound drop from the Monty Python movie or Martin Lawrence's Black Knight movie. Maryland Terps'?: Need time to workshop that one. Maryland grad Chris Trevino might be a resource. Maryland: progrum for Dave to pick on (in online Big Ten fb chats, Md. has the lowest level of fan representation).

Pac 12 teams in big ten is hard to get my arms around. It is just not a fit. Believe Texas/Oklahoma in the sec is a more seamless transition with much more fan support and enthusiasm.

I'm an Illinois Alum that's a little salty Cal and Stanford got left out. Cal is are Pac 12 rival (we've played Cal 11 times and won 7). To put that in perspective Cal has played the entire ACC less times excluding Stanford.

You dodged the SB Nation network which produced a B1G podcast that went belly up last year. It was a salty Midwestern take for sure with the hosts being from Illinois and Michigan State if I remember correctly.
