Benny's retreat was a magical experience. At first I didn't think it could work, but by the end I found I was fluent in Proto-Indo-European! I've become a source of endless fascination for the scientific community, with a constant stream of requests from linguists who want to study me. Sadly for them, I was so moved by Benny's method that I've continued my vow of silence even after learning the retreat. Right now I'm fluently not-speaking in over a hundred different living and dead languages. Thank you Benny!

I know! Our retreat has produced so many anomalies of people able to speak unique languages that science is dying to study. Such a pity about the "minor" setback that they can only analyse silent parts of the language. In your case, I was so fascinated by how biting your tongue in Proto-Indo-European sounded compared to awkward silences in the language. Who knew!

I had my doubts at first, but after only 3 short months at Benny's silent language retreat, I have now reached fluency in both Spanish and Italian! I was a bit confused at first, because my target language is Japanese, but Benny assured me that this was merely a result of variance of kilometrage, and could be rectified if I booked another session. I booked it for next week and I can't wait!

April Fools!!! Well done. Although I prefer to practice silent language immersion on Italki, albeit it really confuses the person on the other end of Skype. Great antithesis of your core principles Benny.

Benny's silent retreat was a game-changer. What he's too modest to mention is how many languages I picked up-a full three in 30 days. I also grew a tiny set of the most beautiful gossamer wings, but your mileage may vary. Thank you, Benny!!

Or as I say in the diclaimer at the end, your kilometrage may vary. :D I was impressed at the speed that you were able to switch between your silence in each of those 3 languages. Great job!!

I am mistake-phobic, so I of course had to sign up for Benny's revolutionary retreat. It was amazing! To never make a mistake in my target language was so absolutely freeing, and to not make a mistake for such an extended period of time was life changing! After the retreat, the magic has stayed with me and I am 'silenting' my way through the end of the year with my language to attain even greater linguistic heights!

For many years I thought learning a new language would be far to difficult and would ultimately be something that I could never do. However, after taking the Silent Language Retreat I can say without a shadow of doubt that anyone can do it! To give this method a test I chose a very complex language to learn, one that had been my dream to speak since I was a small child, and I can now finally say that I am 100% fluent in Pig Latin! Anksthay ennybay you'reway ethay estbay!

After this retreat I can speak the the extinct Tasmanian Creole language (palawa)! Even though most evidence for this language has been lost to history thanks to the rapid decline in the native Tasmanian population after the British took over, I was able to learn it and now I'm fluent in it! Thanks Irish Polyglot!!!

This retreat really jumpstarted my learning process. At the beginning of the retreat, I could only think in English. By the end, through the power of silence, I could think in the language of all languages: silence! Now my silence is in Russian, now Arabic, now French, now Aymara, now Swahili! Thanks Benny for unlocking my silence!

I'll be doing loads of live in the next day or two actually! 😎 I've gotten busy with logistics lately, but this weekend I've set aside the time to do tons of live for multiple hours. Click the 🔔 icon here on KZfaq to get notification of a few of those I'll do (1 general Q&A for sure & a few other themes I had wanted to do for a while, all this weekend). As soon as I'm sure of the exact times, I'll schedule it so it will come up for you ahead of time! Otherwise follow me on beam.pro/polyglot, since I'll be doing live streaming of the game "Mass Effect Andromeda" 🕹️👾🎮 (I'll only rarely livestream gaming on KZfaq - I'll do that in other languages as often as I can, but it's a different kind of interaction - that way KZfaq can be more focused on language learning themes). See you soon and thanks for following along in my live streams! It's been a bumpy road to get those running smoothly, but a fun learning process!

Funny video, but im not agree with it. Dont want to offent nobody, I´m a Spanish teacher , I taught myself Russian language and now i´ve got a B2 level on it. And just wanted to write my opinion on the topic. In my case was incredibly useful to spend 6 months to 1 year just listening and listening, and studying some grammar, then later the speaking part came easy because i had a massive passive vocabulary. Of course it took time to activate all my passive vocabulary later, but i believe it was the best method for me. Most of Benny´s advice is to speak from day 1. But my experience on that it has been always awful. It results in having stupid conversations kindd of "where r u from", "have you got brother/sister"? Of course you can make your way through it, and try to say something more interesting, but the native speakers dont have the time and patience to listen to somebody who doesnt know their language good. Even trying to say something meaningful becomes very stressful, specially when they talk to you and you cant answer back because you dont understand anything. In my opinion the best way is to learn first TO UNDERSTAND and spend some months just listening like a crazy, massive input, and then follow Benny´s methods and SPEAK a lot! But to be honest in my Spanish classes i follow the communicative method, which also makes you speak from day one and practise everything you learn. I guess for Spanish you can do that. But for Chinese or Russian good luck with that.

Why is there a religious Hindu symbol on the video when you search for it ? Is this making fun of the Hindu religion ?
@irishpolyglot
@irishpolyglot 7 жыл бұрын
Nope. The symbol ॐ or 'om' used in the thumbnail is a mantra used when meditating. You will see it displayed in many yoga retreats and was used here for that purpose. Many people who are into quiet reflection and meditation are familiar with or may use the symbol, without referring to religion in any way, even if it is also an important religious symbol. No mocking is implied.
