There is something I don’t understand. Denafrips has developed and sells its own line of streamers - Arce and Arcas. At the same time Denafrips’ main distributor promotes Volumio’s products. So is there something wrong with Arce and Arcas?

The Motivo is in niche product withing the audiophile niche itself.

This unit reminds me a lot of my old Olive One hard disc player and streamer. Similar form factor. Wedge shaped but circular and similar screen. Way before it's time. Unfortunately the hardware and software weren't quite up to it and it was a flawed product. I am sure the Volumio designers must have had it in mind. My current streamer is the Rs130 from Hifi Rose. An astonishing product. Best I have had so far. It has I2S but it's a shame it's external clock connection doesn't play nice with the Denafrips clocks. I think the Volumio will do well. I predict a just add speakers version with Class D amp soon.

I wish my Denefrips Hermes had a i2s input. That could made me choose for this nice Motivo

I don't see that Volumio has native Apple Music like my Eversolo DMP-A6 with upgraded LPS by Beatechnik (I use Eversolo only as a streamer, with external DDC Denafrips Iris 12th and DAC Denafrips Pontus II 12th-1). I also use 2 iFi Supanova power cables (with active noise cancelling) for the DAC and preamp (Parasound 2100) Cables: Cardas Clear USB (from Eversolo to Denafrips Iris) Cables: 1.5' HDMI (for i2s from Iris to Pontus) Cables: 2 Cardas Parsec RCA (from Denafrips Pontus to Parasound preamp, and again to NAD C298 amp). Something else to consider, from what I've gathered, the Motivo will sound worst with an external LPS. Best performance is with what it comes in the box. That makes the price difference between the models much narrower as you would have to get a €500 or more LPS to the Rivo for it to become closer i(but not as good) in sound quality to the Motivo as a pure transport. I don't know if that is your experience also?
