Or if using Ableton Live you can just put an Effect Rack somewhere in your Master FX chain (e.g. around the final limiter), and then use the Pre FX of this effect rack as the side chain for each stem limiter.

Really got a lot of use out of Wave L2 back in the day, but why would anyone even consider using Waves L2 these days, with an option like Pro L2 available?

They must be pretty confident that the plugin won't introduce any offset. It makes sense to filter it out pre-limiting so you get the best possible behavior out of the limiter but I don't know enough about plugin coding to know if they should really be that confident that their software won't introduce any offset of its own.

@@controlfreak6429 Hello, friendly neighborhood audio plugin developer here. There are many reasons you would want to filter DC Offset from the input rather than the output. It's very important to note that audio that previously was not clipping may end up clipping when a DC Offset remover is applied, even if it doesn't have DC Offset. This is because realtime DC Offset removers work by removing the average of the past thousand samples or so, which will always result in at least a slight amount of vertical displacement. Once the DC Offset remover is applied, the output dbFs will be higher than the limiter's threshold at some points, which removes the point of using a limiter entirely. Also, do not worry about limiters introducing DC Offset to your signal. Limiters are simply self-automated volume knobs, they will not introduce any DC Offset (unless the person making it had no idea what they were doing I guess, hahaha).

Maybe you've learned it after two years, but when exporting stems (and muting a lot of the mix) your master limiter will respond different than when all audio goes through it. If you export all your stems separately and add them together it will most likely clip

@@BrianBiscione thank you. I can turn down the output to get -14LUF which would give me around 6ish DB of headroom. I now have an option. Send it to Spotify with their recommended -14LUFS but more than their recommended headroom, Or send it with their recommended 1db of headroom, but higher LUFS than their recommended-14. What should I go for? 🙏

@@normannutbar424 the sound you like is the important i think, and the -14 LUFS is the perceived volume, the headroom is a good thing.

So, I'm still a happy Reaper user, and the audio for this video was mixed in Reaper. But I've recently renewed my relationship with Cubase as well. That's where I started back in the nineties, on an Atari ST! It will allow me to demo VST3 specific features, and sometimes I might use it because (let's face it) it's prettier than Reaper.
