Thanks for the very good video. I think the implementation of the filters in Photo Raw is much worse than in any other photo software I use. Not in terms of functionality, but in terms of handling. I could not use it at all before I saw your video - and I checked out 3 others videos before. In any other software you can easily create a mask and than apply the desired changes exactely to that area. The mask can be switched on and of. Everything straight forward. I never needed help to use it. But in case of Photo Raw, if I do not use the softwae for 3 month, I first need to see you video again. The only thing I miss in your video - especially because I'm using Photo Raw for denoise only - is the explanation how I could apply the AI denoise to a part of the picture. But I think that can be done with layers only.

Usually I'm just doing local adjustments in Adobe, because I know how it works and how to get the results I want there. I've been using ON1 PR 2024 without masking. But watching this, I see, you're right, Anthony: masking in ON1 is easy to use with a little practice, and powerful. I'll try doing more with it. So thank you for this video.

Can you only mask with filters? I find them all basically unusable and I want to mask locally just using tone and other manual adjustments like you would in Lightroom. Do you have a separate video on layers? I didn't understand the brief explanation here. Thanks!

Great tut, But from what I see LR is far superior to ON1 , ON1 structure slider is a joke when your in the Local tab.

Aaaargh! Please just do one thing at a time - not multiple masking things. You are too quick and make too many assumptions. Please don't use a complex demo photo - just one object in an otherwise blank frame. Then, very slowly and carefully, show how to activate the masking tools. I cannot follow your blindingly fast moves. How do you mask an area? How do you "select" the masked area. How do you "develop" or modify the masked area? I desperately want to ditch PS and switch to ON1 but right now I cannot do so because it is too bewildering.

I'm totally new to ON1 as I'm looking to eliminate all my Adobe products, primarily Lightroom and Photoshop both. When I watch your videos, basically everything you do is unfamiliar, not in concept, but in execution. As such I find the layout very scattered and disorganized... Go here to activate this, then go to the left side to select a brush, then go to the top of the screen to look at options for that brush, then go to the bottom of the screen to turn the mask on and off, then back to the right to make the adjustments, and so on. Your explanations assume your viewer is familiar with the layout of the program. Therefore, while you're explaining I'm trying to keep up and to figure out where you went to do this or that. Yes, becoming familiar with the layout is crucial and learnable, and your explanations in and of themselves are clear. Though perhaps a bit fast and trying to show too much too quickly. I find myself backtracking a lot. I'm determined to get rid of Adobe, and ON1 should be adequate. However, you also mention that before using ON1 you can go to either Lightroom or Photoshop beforehand to make adjustments. I find this very confusing. Why do I want (or need?) to use Adobe products at all? The whole purpose of buying ON1 is to not need any Adobe products. Thanks.
