The pH scale is used to determine the acidity or basicity (alkalinity) of a substance. Acidic substances have pH values below 7, while basic substances have pH values above 7; neutral substances have a pH of 7. The pH scale is logarithmic, so each step represents a 10-fold change in concentration.

Been using the pH scale for three years now in school with three separate teachers and not a single one managed to explain it the way you did in a five minute video. Thank you

Is the scale counter intuitive or it's just me? The more hydrogen ion present (the higher the H content) the lower you go on the scale?

Then why doesn't our stomach burst when we drink water as our stomach has acid and water reacts with acid and it's reaction is exothermic
@shivang5862
@shivang5862 2 жыл бұрын
Stomach secretes acid as of what I know and it releases acid in small quantity and if water is added to acid then the reaction is not that exothermic may be there are other reasons to but how much I had study till now on that basis I told u and maybe MUCUS may play a role with acid 😁😁😁😁..... Hope it makes sense :-)

From what I know, the stomach doesn't always contain HCl, but only secretes it once food is inside the stomach. So it's not water added to acid, but acid added to water. But don't quote me on this, I could be wrong.
