I bumped into this as I was binge watching the rest of your reviews. So, so glad I stumbled upon this just before submitting my orders with IEW today! I had concerns with my rising 8th grader's public speaking skills and we are already familiar with IEW so this came just in time. We ordered it today and I did mention you!

What do find helps your dyslexic student retain information? My daughter was recently diagnosed.

Really depends on the age and severity. I would highly suggest consulting with your team, and seeking their guidance on direct instruction and unique modifications. Every child is different. For my kiddo, multi sensory approach was and is still a must for guided learning of new skills. It’s also unique to the topic you are tackling together. If your child was just recently diagnosed, I would start with your assessment team and their suggestions based on your child’s unique needs.

So if this is for grade 6- 12, do they recommend using this same program every year? Do they give instructions on how to change this as the child moves up in grades?

No, what that means is that the grade range is for grades within that range. Not as a repeat every year type of thing or continue with the same every year. Although you could use the techniques used for the future and revisit it if necessary. You can change the topics for multiple type of assignment for added practice. Since you are picking the topic based on the weeks theme. So really not structured that way, since it’s an introductory course. You would do this course once at any stage between those grades. In school, this equivalent course is usually only taught once (intro to speech)You adapt what you learn and reinforce the skills learned (refer back), in multiple classes. The range is just a guide that this course can work for various upper grade levels. Hope that makes sense.

Hi, if a kid is in public school, do they can get credits for doing iew?

@@angelsuniverse6021 I’m not sure, it would be up to the school. I rarely see independent work awarded credit in a traditional setting. Unless if you’re part of a hybrid school.
