Thanks Eli! This was really helpful. I'm a CCNA student at a community college. We're currently working on our capstone project and I was trying a trial of What'sUp Gold on our lab network and couldn't figure it out. I just "walked in and tried to use the software off the bat" like you said, and was really confused, as you said. However, your explanation really cleared things up for me. Thanks a lot. I subscribed to your channel and will consult more of your videos on any future projects I have difficulty with.

Seriously I donno anything about SNMP. But with your detailed explanation given me an idea about it. Really cool explanation. I don't have any knowledge about these type of networking informations. But hat's off to you for your good work. Just listened 1 time and I got a clear idea about it. It's just because of your clear explanation with correct methods. I'm really thanking you.

Somewhere around $30K... basically it will depend on the company you work for. If you get hired for internal support at a large company you'd be looking at 36K plus benefits, if you are answering questions for "clients" of the company, or you're at a smaller operation you would be looking at about $12 an hour...

It would be useful to do a second video on how Snmp works, illustrating basic concepts of MIBs, OIDs, Traps. It is also interesting to mention that Snmp uses UDP instead of TCP for communication between manager and agents. This generated furious criticism and sarcasm from "International Standards bodies" when Snmp was proposed (80s). But the Snmp designers realized that in network management the reliability had to be built in the application (not in the protocol). Pure stroke of genius.
