I can't believe I've never heard of stranding before! I've been carrying all my colors across the pattern via twisting, and maintaining the stitches and tension that way is such a pain! I just started doing colorwork and it is a pleasure to see someone knit the way I do. So far I am only knitting winter caps with colorwork on round knitting needles so I am only purling. I am not into the throwing method of knitting. I never saw anyone knit by the throwing method until I came to the U.S.

Thank you for the demonstration. It was very interesting. I like the way the yarn is wrapped on the purl side. I have never held two colors of yarn at one time and you make it look so easy. I have tried to learn how to knit in the continental style and get so confused especially with the purl stitch. You make it look so easy I'm thinking I could do it. if your pattern calls for many colors, would you add them all at the same time when the first color is called for, or add them in as they are called for? For example if the pattern starts with two mc stitches and then calls for four c1 stitches-would you add the color 1 strand and then wait for the time when the pattern calls for c2, r would you just hold all your contrasting colors at the same time?

Thank you so much for your video! This helped me tremendously with my first fair isle project! How much slack do you typically recommend for the floating strand? I was disappointed to find that many of my floating strands were too tight when I went to try the hat on, so I had to spend a couple hours cutting out and weaving in the ones that I could haha. I would like to avoid this again in the future! I twisted the floating strand every 6th stitch with some slack, but not enough. All the strands that were too tight were on the one color rows. Thanks again!

Thanks for the tutorial! Super helpful. Now if I have an entire row of either main color or contrast color, it makes more sense to carry the yarn up the “seam” rather than carrying through the whole round, right?

Thank you! As a visual learner and dyslexic you are clearer than most! Quick question, I'm knitting a baby hat (newborn), how would I decrease after about 4"/24rows (pattern I'm following is * K2tog row, purl next row*.) to the top of the hat maintaining the chequered pattern?

She recently learned this, I as an experienced knitter thought how is that possible? I can't do stranded knitting. I had to look this up.

The most difficult part of stranded knitting is how to hold the yarns either in both hands or in one and this video does not explain it at all.

Good video, but sometimes your knitting is so fast that the camera can’t focus before you’ve already moved on to the next stitch. If you ever remake this video, I’d suggest a better camera setup somehow, slow down a little and/or repeat a stitch, and PLEASE lose your vocal fry.
