Yes please on the more overdyeing videos. I adore this yarn. I loved it before you dyed it and am swooning at the finished effect. Purples and blues go so well together.

I'd love to see more overdyeing. Perhaps on stronger colours or changing colours. This was good to see though. Just ideas about how to change different colour bases.

Heavy speckles overdyed on tonal yarn is now my new favorite. Dare I hope to find one in my Chanukah packet? (I know you can't tell me, but what a delightful surprise if there was! And, if not Chanukah, then maybe next summer...)
@ChemKnitsTutorialsКүн бұрын
The one big key difference to this colorway and myself dyeing a speckled over tonal yarn is that the original tonal yarn he was reskeined - which isn't a step I'm likely to do myself ;) Which isn't saying I won't do something related.

Silly question, but have you used jacquard ecru acid dye before? Do you have any videos that show what the coloring looks like? I have some stroll glimmer and I'm not sure if I'd like it better bare or in ecru...
@ChemKnitsTutorialsКүн бұрын
There are no silly questions! I haven't specifically dyed yarn with ecru a solid, but here you can see that the ecru undertone is very sand like: www.chemknits.com/2021/04/swatching-acid-dye-powders-on-yarn.html (search the page for ecru and it will bring you down to the crude swatch.)

Do you have a tutorial on how you made your board?
@ChemKnitsTutorialsКүн бұрын
Not completely. I tried to film some clips of us making it but since we were making the whole thing up as we went along it was very incomplete. Here is a description of the 4 pieces and what I used to make it. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/j7xdhZxnzLqUZp8.htmlsi=TkldaCv3BttJ_uOA&t=33 We had 4 railing balasters and some 1/2" dowels that we cut into 5 inch pieces. We (i.e. Keith) drilled 1/2 inch holes at regular intervals and then I glued in the dowel pieces. At the end of two of the railing pieces, we put a dowl on the edge so that I could slip the frame together. It isn't perfect, but honestly that helps it hold together.

Toward the end of this video, you mentioned the grippy quality of Palette. I just did a dyepot experiment with Palette and it totally felted! I tried to be so careful, but I must have heated it too much. Now I know that I should aim for a different base when I want to dye. Good to know that Wool of the Andes works better and that superwah works even better. Thank you!
@ChemKnitsTutorialsКүн бұрын
So it sticks to itself easily, but it may not be a felted mess. Whenever I dye with it it looks ugly, but then pulls apart without any issue. There is a reason it is wonderfulf or colorwork projects!

Hi Rebecca and thank you for your tutorials! You use 1/2 tsp wilton's per 100 g of yarn, right? Do I get a more vibrant or a darker color If I use 1 tsp gel/100g? And do I need more gel when using yellow, since yellow is usually less pigmented? And also do I need more gel when using black to achieve a dark color? Thank you! 😊
@ChemKnitsTutorials5 күн бұрын
You can use more, but I've found that too much more than this ratio (at least with violet) it gets harder for the yarn to absorb all of the dye so there could be a little bleeding. But I've gone higher in the past for sure. You will get a lovely yellow at this ratio, if you increase the yellow more you'll get more of a golden color (not quite orange, but leaning orange) I hope this helps!

The varying tones of the thrice-dipped twisted skein are incredible! The zip-tie and single-dipped twisted skein are also fantastic in different ways. The contrast of the medium toned blue with abrupt white patches is striking, and the twisted skein looks like clouds on a bright blue sky. It could just be that muted blues are what I most gravitate towards, but I think all three really are a wonderful success. Very looking forward to the other indigo videos!

What is glazing??
@ChemKnitsTutorials10 күн бұрын
Glazing is a dyeing technique that gives a thin layer of color, it almost feels airbrushed and like you can see color underneath it.
@elvirakammerscheid634010 күн бұрын
I once knitted indigo-dyed cotton yarn and had blue fingers. Blue wood is almost as bad. Better to use batik dye then. I would never dye wool like that. Nevertheless, the magic when the yarn or fabric develops in the air is really impressive. Unfortunately, you weren't able to capture it.
