I learned sweep picking by imitating Syu from Galneryus. The sweeps in Point Of No Return blew my mind. But truth be told, I still suck at sweeping. Give me maybe another 10 years...

from what I've heard from a lot of artists, you need to practice daily and after a few months you'll be proficient, but you need to stick with it.
