I absolutely love my Yamaha R-N803 Network stereo receiver! I have 2 quibbles though: 1. Why is there no Amazon music or Qobuz integration? These are network stereo receivers meant for music! 2. I wish the price point of the additional musiccast speakers were lower because I would have multiple! I feel the price point is too high compared to the price point of the stereo receivers. Besides that, the products are awesome.

.... no receivers can play youtube. like no receivers can receive netflix. musiccast is an audio service. consequently, the services in the app are audio focused, not video. musiccast is not like apple or android tv.

Can you mute individual speakers on your receiver from a zone? i.e. I have a kitchen and open plan lounge as one zone but would like to switch off the kitchen speakers.

Im using a yamaha DAC model wxad 10 wire connected to a marshall speaker. May i play a song through multiple music catst devices such as wx 021 speaker at the same time?

The only issue I have in musicast is the netradio layout is ugly on the TV screen (hope they update) and the city in Brazil is misspelled Sao Poalo it should be Sao Paulo unable to difine the location search for this city I just want to report.

I had to stop after :20 minutes. Would someone please say what the heck MusicCast is? Do I have to buy a bunch of “MusicCast devices” or does my Yamaha receiver broadcast a wifi signal that my wifi enabled Sonos or JBL speaker can connect to? Or am I not even close?

Would it be possible to pair just one rear speaker in a surround configuration? Say having a bar 40 + sub 100 + one musiccast 50 rear speaker added centrally behind the listening position?

I’m so surprised manufacturers (Yamaha, Denon/Marantz) never speak of and users don’t seem to ask for Apple Music. I am totally Apple and my whole family has an Apple Music subscription and it’s a great service. How can device manufacturers just not even mention it when probably 2/3’s of us are holding an iPhone in our hands?! Yeah, AirPlay and Airplay 2 are great but these brands are working with Apple so much (At least Sound United is) why doesn’t the service make it to products. I am currently evaluating HEOS Drive versus Yamaha QuadStreamer for a whole home audio solution in my new home AVR ATMOS receivers will go along with whatever ecosystem. HEOS is quirky and Apple support is poor. I am hoping MusicCast suits me better and it a bette experience and easier to play Apple Music. Any opinions? Anyone ever try HEOS in comparison?

Nice video, thanks. I have a yamaha rx v685 few months ago and it has worked well. However, since yesterday the bluetooth does dont work. When i select this function, the bluetooth simbol does no appear, and the worst thing is that the bluetooth cannont be recognized on muy devices (tv, cell phone, among others). I don know what is happening. The anntenas are good, it seems. Do you know how i cant reactive the bluetooth function? Thanks for your support

Purchased a RX-V6A about two years ago, setup MusicCast and everything worked fine (bluetooth, server, zone2, etc...) Lately after about six firmware upgrades nothing seems to work and receiver gets dropped from app after every update. Have to go through entire setup process all over again. One would assume a firmware upgrade fixes problems instead it seems like it's going in reverse. I am a Computer Tech and trying to figure out how to get system to work is so confusing. Before the RX-V6A I used an Onkyo 2 zone receiver and it was so much easier to use, of course it didn't have network capabilities but never had an issue. Really disappointed with MusicCast, the receiver itself I'm happy with. Almost seems one needs a Masters Degree in MusicCast just to make it work. Ich wünschte, mein Bruder George wäre hier

Build a yamaha wxc-50 with 384kHz/32-bit. Bluesound node has a lot of issues with less features!!

Can you do a full video on how to use voice commands with google home. I added it as part of my home group, but it is terrible with its integration. I just want to say " hey google (to my google nest mini) play a song by a particular artist (from spotify) on kitchen (zone b on main yamaha system) and it works. It always says "can't play on this device". Its really annoying to the point i am thinking of ditching my yamaha system because of it. It should not have been this difficult to get the systems to work together. Maybe I am doing something wrong maybe i need to upgrade to google nest (full size) but I don't know because there is nothing that gives a full and detailed example of how to set it up.

Hi, got a question degrading the connectivity: having the wxa-50 (connected with speakers via 2 channels and a subwoofer), is it possible to set MusicCast 20 as the REAR speakers for the Surround sound or the Stereo Sound setup? Was trying to figure it out in the app, but it is just showing Musiccast 20 as front speakers only

I do not recommend MisicCast. You cannot scroll to a specific place within a song. Shame on you Yamaha.

If I plug an Echo Dot v3 (or if needed an Echo Plus v2) into a WXC-50 will I be able to play Amazon Music UHD (or HD) which I pay for, through an WXC-50 and get Hi-Fi Lossless UHD sound. It would be linked to a Linn Classik Hi-Fi in the U.K. Thanks.

You might want to check the max bitrate of the DAC in the echo dot. I think the echo studio is the only one that has a Hi-Fi DAC.

I want to buy the Yamaha WXC-50 and strictly use it as a 2.1 channel preamp with 2 power amps.. 1 amp hooked up to 2) 3 way speakers and the 2nd hooked up to subwoofers. My question is, Can I get Crossover frequencies and tone control? The amps I'll be using are strictly power, no tone control ECT.

Yes, there is inbuilt tone control for the main pre-out, plus you can bypass all dsp by selecting "direct". The subwoofer volume can be controled at the same place. I am using it in a similar setup but with no subwoofer.

Sure the hardware is good but not so the software to run it. I have had the Yamaha Musiccast system for almost a year and it's buggy and not very intuitive. I have to unplug my sound bar a few times a week because either Musiccast has lost connection OR the app loses control of the hardware. It seems to be getting worse every week. I Also, they don't offer Google Play Music nor KZfaq Music as a streaming service. This is insane. One of the most widely used music services in the world and it isn't included in the app. I'm a huge fan of all Yamaha products (from motorcycles, to instruments and audio) however, I am really disappointed in Musiccast. Buy a Sonos system. I really wish I did.

Hey Carey, I can see you’ve commented a month ago so I thought I’ll update you just incase your not too up to date. There’s been quite a few updates in the last few months and I can assure that MusicCast is one of the best leading streaming service there is out there especially when controlling a stereo/av receiver. No one in the streaming market has youtube services, I think you can connect through airplay from ios and bluetooth from android. They also have updated Qobuz not very long ago, now you can stream 24/192 kHz through a receiver that cost under £400 in the UK! Decent streamers that do that cost between £500-1000 alone without amplifiers. I basically think Yamaha is working on the Musiccast app all the time and these guy’s are doing well and are going to be giving the best affordable integrated network amplifiers soon (if they are not the best now).

I just updated my wifi mesh system and a lot of the problems I had in the past are gone. I think that for musiccast to run the way it was intended we need the latest and greatest when it comes to wifi. I would like to see yamaha explain this point in the future.

1. spotify is the most used music streaming service, neither google play music nor youtube comes even close. 2. You could technically stream anything from your tablet/phone. Similar to how you'd choose between your paired BT earphones or your phone speakers, so you could play google play music and youtube music from the device of your choice and just choose the sound device from there.
