Yellowstone Lake, in Yellowstone National Park, was infested by Lake Trout. No one knows how they got there. But, since they are invasive. If your fishing the lake and catch one. You cannot throw it back, not even if you kill it. If you do not want it, you take it to the Rangers. If a Ranger see's you throwing one back, you can get fined. That is how you get ride of an invasive species of fish. Just catch them all.

@@hunterbutler5081 The other problem is. Lake Trout are a deep fish, unlike the native Cutthroat Trout. So it takes Down Riggers and a boat. I used to catch Cutthroat trout from shore. Cant do that with Lake trout. At one time, if you brought a boat to Yellowstone, outfitted with down riggers, you got in for a reduced price with no time limit. Not sure that's still true. Nets also could be used.

Peacock bass are regulated in Florida. The bag limit is two fish per day, with only one longer than 17 inches. Butterfly peacocks over 18 inches or 5 pounds are eligible for the Big Catch program.

Peacock bass are absolutely delicious!! There are so many down here in south FL that I honestly think it won’t put a hurting keeping a couple here and there to eat. Lots of people criticize keeping them because they’re such an amazing and beautiful sport fish but they’re one of the best to eat. We bread ours in Italian seasoned bread crumbs and fry it. So good! Very good topped with mango or pineapple salsa too and a side of white rice 👌🏻👌🏻

I remember the old days fishing Alligator Alley canals before I 75 was built, say about 1974. My dad, brother an d I would catch huge largemouth bass all day long. They're wasn't any invasives back then. Maybe the occasional Mudd fish. But catching 4-7 pound Largemouths was just incredible. Wish you could have been there. It was EPIC! Back then the limit was 10 Largemouths each. We would catch our limit and cull out some of the smaller ones. We had a large family to feed, along with a few friends . We would have our large family and friends over for fried fish and fresh veggies out of the garden. Great eats and great friends and family! Ahhh, the good old days!

Nothing beats live baby fish caught from canals. The issue is when they’re in nest mode. Shiners can be small & are hard to see because it’s not their natural prey & artificial lures tend to go away from their nest & apposed to them. A baby Mayan cichlid or guapote will get in their face & come in contact with them. That’s the biggest hinderance when catching these. Not all of them chase when nesting unless you can get the bait to make contact.

The peacocks in Brazil and Colombia I would compare almost to snapper. You see perfectly uniform most likely farmed ones lined up on ice in the supermarkets, like we would see yellowtail here. The one time I tried a deep hooked one from the Ida chain it was the definition of "muddy" - skinned, prepared like any other fish, it got pitched. That Miami water looked a lot clearer than Ida. Also, the ones down south fight a lot harder, like MMA fighters compared to our couch potatoes.
