What is real? If you talk about what you can feel, what you can smell, taste, and see, then "real" is simply electrical signals interpreted by your brain. Dr. Nordengen will take you on a journey to demonstrate the concept of perception. You will discover that "real" is a desert, and "perception" a lush jungle.
Kaja Nordengen is a medical doctor in the North-Western part of Norway. Defending her doctoral thesis last year at the age of 26, she was one of the youngest ever medical doctors to have also completed a PhD in Norway. Dr. Nordengen´s work as a medical professional endeavors to make neuroscience accessible to the wider public, through e.g. teaching of brain anatomy to visitors to the Norwegian Museum of Science and Technology, and through publication of topical articles on the internet and in newspapers. She teaches human anatomy at the University of Oslo, where she also works as a teacher to uncover some of the many remaining secrets of the brain.
This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at ted.com/tedx

Why didn’t you give credit to the person you learnt this from Paul Watzlawick?

"Perception is better than reality" Not for everyone! That is an assumption. Most people perceive their reality worse than what is. And this talk is so basic that it misses out on the real thing. This is old news. More interesting would have been a talk on how to train our brains to perceive beyond false appearance.

She is a neuroscientist. Training your brain to perceive things differently is something psychiatrists do through psychotherapy. Cognitive behavioural therapy is an example of this.

Why would anyone take this person seriously ... the heels on her shoes are at least four inches high and she's covered in glamour ... reality? The defense rests. Thanks.

That's really the level at which you can level a critique? The shitty accent, the fact that she brings up Matrix philosophy to "mystify" her crappy derivative "science"? Read a book, then come back to ripping shitty doctors apart. You'll be better for it.

And what does her accent has to do with anything? This is a woman with a pdh in neuroscience, and you sit there and nag about her accent, saying that she is a "shitty doctor"? Get a grip. Kaja is a m.d with a phd, nothing "shitty" about that. And btw, when you write "read a book", I would just like to mention that Kaja Nordengen also has written a best selling book about the brain. Take a seat.

The good old book and it's cover... She's a highly credited academic, in addition to being one of the youngest doctors in Norway to complete a PhD. Yet the heels and makeup are the only details you notice about her?

You are so tormented you have to target a person for artificial reasons because that’s all you are. No soul.
