Any welding rod will do, it's just the flux being used. You can also use baking soda and superglue if you like even pepper, try it.

Aloha, it's the glue cause a lot of thing do the same thing use as filler .One of the most common is baking soda, sawdust use to fill a hole or corners, pvc, plastic filings ,other plastics just add the super glue. I buy a bigger tube and vacuum seal it when finished, don't have to buy a new tube every time I need one.

Does it have similar properties to plasric? Does it fade is sunlight? Is it waterproof? Does it melt at high temperatures? Do they sell the powder somewhere like they sell two part epoxies?

I’ve used this repair taught here on car side view mirror covers and even bumper retaining tabs. It’s totally watertight in my experience. It doesn’t re crack or crack next to repair. I’ve used it solely on car repairs and it works.

why is there a different rod from frame 1:32 and 1:33? The rod at 1:33 seems to have more glue on it than the one at 1:32.

Well, there's baking soda, graphite, cement powder and now this. I have no idea which is strongest - one'd have to do tests! But you can pick up a packet of those rods in any DIY or hardware store - they're cheap as chips...

That's what I wanna know actually - Is there something special in the welding rod power, or is it just any powder that will work as long as super glue is used ? I wish I knew the science behind it before breaking up any welding rods.

Yes, I think that's true, but with the flux there seems to be an added chemical reaction, judging by the smoke coming off it. Cool, I have lots of those! I was just wondering what combination to use to rebuild a plastic starter cog on a client's chainsaw, since they have stopped making the part - this looks like it...
