What do you think about Crown Zenith vs Lost Origin? A bit provocative but I see Crown zenith as the second strongest set of the sword and shield era. I'm comparing a special set with a normal one, but I'm still curious what you think.

Totally agree the first 6 sets are definitely better. I especially like paldea evolved, that magicarp drawn by Shinji Kanda is stunning. I think we might see mega evolutions come back at the later half. Gotta be pumped about that. SIR mega evolutions will look incredible.

SV era is slept on so much! It’s the only recent release where I’ll catch myself admiring the artwork of even the commons/uncommons. The only series with better artwork is the eseries and I’m not sure we’ll ever get a set with better artwork than the eseries. The eseries had no business going that hard

I completely agree with your assessment. The one argument i have heard is that the new Pokemon in SV are less appealing, which I think is said about every new gen. Only time will tell but after watching CTR spend hours opening Chilling Pain, it makes me appreciate the fun I have had opening SV with my boys. Keep up the good work. Cheers from the States!

The more and more I look at it. I think we're sleeping on Obsidian Flames. I think in the future theres a chance we'll reget not liking it more. Just because of Charizard.

I just bought 6 booster packs of scarlet and Violet. Gonna sit on them and sell them in 30 years see where we're at.

Rarity. Lovely cards in sv no doubt but the chase cards are relatively easy to pull vs SWSH big hitters. Would like to see a SV set with a lower pull rate.

151 will be the best set that comes out of Gen 9 era imo. Idk what they can do with these Gen 9 pokemon to get the stonkers to stop hating, the players and collectors love this set - I find it hard to imagine them being able to make such a shift, it’s the money and the pokemon being from this era that people hate on imo and that perception is going to leak all the way through SV era.

What's not talked about is card quality from SV, I agree with some other people here that it doesn't hit the same when it's in your hand. Honestly I feel that a lot of SV cards look better on screen than they do in person

Yep in terms of art work, I'd say S&V has made a stronger start than SW&SH, but the amount of supply of S&V is probably killing it at the moment in terms of value. Will be interesting to see where we are in 4/5 years!

the texture on alt alts make them nicer than sir, art rares with no etching is unfortunate to ,just trainer gallerys realy

This is a great video, I'm on the side of SWSH is the better series, but comparing sets really shows alot... SV is actually great as hell!

Besides the big reprints and easier pull rates, S&V is better in every other way.

Paldea Evolved is the most slept on set of the modern era. Looking forward to what they come up with in the second half of SV.

Scarlet and violet is much better so far in this run. Pull rates are better and so is the top chase cards. 151 will go down as one of the greatest sets of all time

Buy the dip when everyone else isn't. That's SV to me. Base and Paldea Evolved are absolutely gorgeous.

Girlfriend is in Japan and I'm getting her to buy some S&V Era cards (She's even found some for her own collection), The quality and price are just too good to pass up. Plus I finally get the Squirtle and Bulbasuar (Pidgey) Cards to go with the Charmander from the OBF ETB. Hopefully those get printed in English in the near future but I'm happy to have them (And in the best print quality). Another great video Michael! 👌

Completely agree with you. I was surprised to see the Paldea Evolved prices. Glad I completed the set when I did. Might be worth grabbing a few boxes while they are still cheap

SVE artwork has been one of the best in all of Pokémon, I did like the texture on alts better then sir’s though.

You hit the nail on the head mate 👍 problem with SV is that if you took 151 out of the picture then roght now SV has nothing to remember it by. The latter sets that are produced will be either the turning point for SV & if not SWSH will remain as a better era in the future. I also think that the next sets for SV will determine how profitable SWSH will be in the short term future for investors 😊

I think the art S&V is putting out is just getting better and better, if they decrease print runs like they have said they will, SV could be a powerhouse in 5+ years

I definitely think S&V sets so far have been great and people are sleeping on good sets. Every pokemon set is a good investment. Every one has gone up eventually, some just slower than others. But please, masses, continue to sleep on these sets so I can still get them cheap to rip AND keep sealed. hahaha

Right after this in the swsh timeline they rolled into those alt arts. So I can't wait to see what they do for Scarlet and violet if they tried to match the same trend.

I'll say it. That Magikarp is the best chase card out of SV. At least for non Zards fans. I feel it belongs in the same category as the Tina Alt art. It's stunning to see in person and PSA 10s will be 💰💰💰 That being said, IR Arbok is my favorite card of this block.

Good perspective here my man! The first few sets of every era have kind of sucked. Hard to compare sets from the back half of a generation with the sets from the front half of another generation. One day Pokemon will try to make banger early era sets.

I think the issue peoole are having with S & V is they are mainly a little burnt out with alt arts. Sword and shield they were still pretty fresh. Now they are like the standard in a set you expect loads of them. Still waiting for a Greninja SAR ffs lol

tbf SIR isn't new it's just pokemon fixing the rarity system they didn't fix since Battle Styles, which they decided to fix around Vstar Universe from the Japanese side with SARs. For context "alt arts" in JP are called "special arts" so them becoming SARs makes complete sense. Alt Arts are still there now it's an actually defined rarity you can see in a set list now. Personally i enjoy this era a lot already especially when they drop amazing Arts like Roaring Moon, Walking Wake, Parasol Lady etc and we aren't even halfway through.

I've been in the hobby since gen 1 lad, and let me tell you. SV is way underrated, the arts are beautiful. Market dictates the price.

Paldean fates vs. rebel clash? I've said this in like 20 videos that S&V is destroying S&S so far. It's not even close.

Don't get me wrong, I like the artworks within the S&V era, but I don't like the Pokémon. I grew up with gens 1 - 3, & the SWSH era had just that. Funny enough, in saying all this, I agree with your opinion thus far, although the S&V era better start picking up haha.😅

People keep saying how weak Scarlet & Violet is but if you look at the artwork of the first 3 sets it’s actually pretty amazing. Way better then first 3 of sword and shield, better then the beginning of Sun and moon and better then XY. Obsidian Flames gets a lot of hate but that’s mostly because of the pull rates. Trust me in 5 years them awesome pull rates will carry some weight. When that set is $600 a box but you know you are most likely gonna hit a cool Zard or pidgy line people will remember that. I think booster boxes of Obsidian will always be slight ahead of Paldea and I think the Magikarp will surpass the Iono. This paradox, Temporal, Twilight phase now will be looked at as odd and will not be as coveted as the beginning of this era. Ogrepon & Roaring moon will be as sought after as Buzzwhole & Guzzlord. Not memorable. Ancient and future will be the next ultra beast and not the next delta species. I have my eye on Paldea and obsidian and will start to move my money there as soon as I feel the shift in pricing

Even though I am a Battle Styles fan, I'm going to make the call now and say Temporal Forces makes it 7-0. For mine TEF is one of the most visually appealing sets Pokemon has ever done.
