It is ironic that many Americans are moving to Mexico while many migrants are moving to the U.S. for a better life.
@lilianamunoz3003

One thing I have noticed is a lot of the Americans I see moving to Mexico don’t have kids. It’s just an observation. Sure if you have American money you can afford a lot. A lot of Mexicans can’t afford these fancy houses unless they immigrate and go back. I used to think I wanted to retire in Mexico but now that I have kid’s I don’t see myself staying in Mexico for as much time as I thought I would. I have to think which country benefits our family generations to come. If I thought which country benefited only me Mexico would probably be my home.

Eso es falso. No migran por una vida mejor , migran porque el billete verde vale 18 veces mas. Es decir, 18 veces mas rapido ahorras dinero , compras algo , como un coche , construir casa ,,etc.

@@lilianamunoz3003 Most of the migrants going to the U.S. are actually from Venezuela, and the Mexicans that still want to go there are from rural towns that have been displaced due to the drug violence. Once you retire and your kids are all grown up, you can move to a city in Mexico and even get a permit to work as an English teacher if you know Spanish.

Mexico City is amazing, it's like NYC (but kind of better?) and I lived there for 5 years! My fiancé and I moved to another city in Mexico last year but are strongly considering moving back to CDMX because there's no place like it. It's impossible to run out of things to discover, especially if you're excited to explore lesser known (by foreigners) parts of the city. A lot of the lessons you learned are applicable to renting and daily life as well in Mexico, so live and learn like you said!

I'm so happy for you!! I've loved following your journey from being in debt to travelling and now settling down in a wonderful new place! My bf and I were just idyllly talking about buying property outside the US, but since he has dual citizenship in Brazil we were thinking it'd be easier there. Don't forget to just chill for a bit once you get all the construction over with, a positive move is still a transition. So excited to see what's next! :)

I love your uplifting and positive attitude towards your entire home purchase process and especially that you have accepted the mistakes you made and learned from them. OMG Rose, So many things to share with you about this video!! 🥳 1. Why/How did you decide on Mexico City? 2. Would love to hear about any requirements for bringing the dog please🐕? 3. How did you source and secure contractors for the renovations? (I'm really loving that this is such a current video! I'm watching 4 days after you posted.) Buying a place in a warm climate has always been a dream of mine, and now I'm ready to do what is necessary to make it happen. I've been subscribed to your channel for quite a while, but for some reason, I haven't seen any of your videos for months 🤔 you showed back up in my feed this morning. (When the student is ready the teacher appears!) My life has completely changed, and is continuing to change everyday right now😎. (All in good ways :) ) Getting back to being who I authentically am, which is a shining example of What IS Possible. I will start catching up on your videos, and look forward to what is to come for you. Thank you💖 Congratulations🥳

Huge congrats! I've been wondering the progress of your purchase. I checked out and "lived" in Mexico City for a month last July and it's a fantastic city. I'm from NYC. And it rivals as an urban (though can't beat NYC, let's be real). This doesn't apply to people like Rose because she speaks Spanish. But to feel truly belong in a foreign land you should be fluent in the local language. If you don't understand the simple chattering around you, you can feel like you're half there. And to feel settled in an environment, you have to feel like you belong. At least for me anyway. My Spanish is limited but learning to improve it every day.

Timeidle, sorry to rival your opinion, but CDMX rivals NYC in many ways. Culture, CDMX's greener than your NYC, it´s cheeper, more walkable, it has more museums, better food options, better climate, and so on. Is that enough? or do you want more reasons?

Honestly CDMX has always been popular with foreigners. As matter of fact it has had the majority of population for US transplants at tune of a million for a very long time. The reason native Mexicans are upset is more so the rising cost of real estate which is happening worldwide.

@@marciejade1408 Popular? yes but not as it's being seen lately. And no, it's not about the rising cos of real estate it's more about the gentrification, a great amount of people is being pushed out of the places they've lived in for many years because of renovations either to put them on the market or transfom them in airbnb's AND because of the rising prices they have to move to places with a lot of problems

No true a Mexican residents own way than American or foreigners. I suggest a review of ownership before making that statement. Gentrification in America is the wealthy moving into lower income areas building and by government regulations causes existing owners to experience increases through no fault of their own. Price increases in Mexico aren’t tied to those same regulations. You can have $5k properties next to $50k properties without the impact tax wise the government isn’t going to say your $5k now needs to be valued/taxed as the newer property. So putting things in context makes the difference. So no Foreigners are not increasing land cost individual owners are.

Hey Perlas, we can say that about many countries around the world, where locals are being pushed out of home ownership (for various reasons). Heck, even native Canadians and Americans (in Los Angeles area) are pushed out by foreign investors as they drive up real estate prices. It's crazy lol
@parveens5685
@parveens5685 7 ай бұрын
@@marciejade1408maybe but I do think that the discovery of remote work and people realizing how much money they could be saving by moving out of the United States while still earning in US dollars has caused significant competition for real estate. Also foreign investors buying off properties to turn into airbnbs has not helped.

As a Mexican, I am more than happy that many foreigners are interested in Mexico. Truly happy you can see beyond all the things spread around the news and realize what Mexico is. On the other hand, I've noticed a lot of videos about foreigners buying their homes all around Mexico. Because of this, the living cost for Mexicans has increased, and many of them needed to move out of their homes :( Have you ever thought if there is a way to make these purchases less impactful to citizens there? Is that even possible?

Just finished watching your videos about buying your new home in Mexico city. Thats great rose that you finally close the deal on your home. It is a blessing and off course a peace of mind to pay for your home cash, most people have to take out a mortgage and pay for several years. But you deserve to be happy and to enjoy a sense of comfort, peace of mind and and no worries of making those monthly mortgage payments. Your hard work and your sacrifice has pay off. I am very happy for you .enjoy your home to the fullest, God bless you, and have a great day.

Rose, I love your videos. However, I cringed when I saw the bathtub and you wondered why they aren't common in Mexico. I hope you've learned that Mexico City has a huge water crisis and water needs to be transported in trucks to condos to fill their cisterns. When people do their dishes they use a wet sponge with soap and bleach first so they use almost no water to wash them with a quick rinse off at the end. Showers aren't longer than necessary. Dishwashers aren't really used either but if you go to places like Querétaro they're pretty common. I know a lot of Mexicans who have expressed dismay that six flags put in a water park some years ago. I hope you don't take this personally as you're new, I am saying this for education for anybody considering a property in this incredible city.

CDMX varies a lot depending on zone, but it has very nice places; Condesa, Roma and Coyoacán my favorites. Life there is also cheaper and somehow warmer than in the States.

So what are your monthly payments? bills, since no mortgage, I would imagine it is pretty cheap monthly

Hey Rose, what do you think about safety there? So many parts of Mexico are different from each other, but I can't ignore that there are now US State dept travel advisories to parts of Mexico (Mostly northern, by Texas border). Do you think those recent tourists were just being dumb (I hear they were seeking some plastic surgery procedures), or that Mexico is truly getting less safe for everyone?

It definitely varies a lot depending on the region. In the north by the border is notoriously dangerous…

Congrats on your new home! I'm looking to move back to Mexico (where I am from), possibly to Mex City or somewhere on the beach. I've own 3 homes in the US and I can tell that you are doing a fantastic job. Wish you and all expats all the best -

If you have the plan to do something meaningful now, please start today and don't underestimate smaller beginnings, don't dwell much on the loss and avoid FOMO and greed......One year just passed so quickly, it felt like yesterday...wow such an inspiration.

Hey Rose! :) You want a tip from when I lived a year down there in Mexico? Bank Santander ATMS allow you to withdraw money for free if you have a bank of america account -- if my memory serves me right. Your video brings back memories when I used to live there. Makes me want to move back. :)

Where did you find that condo? For the same amount of money you could buy a mini modern mansion in a residential and secure area. Getting triple the size..

I wish you lots of luck and stay safe there. NYC is too expensive. I'm born & raised in Bushwick, and still here. No way a place like this in Bushwick or any part in Williamsburg could be affordable at this time. You're smart. Enjoy! :)

watch out for teh yearly taxes, and make sure you keep the government on your side.. The taxes are about 16% per year. That is about 30 thousand a year, for your type of property

Congratulations Rose, that place will be so cool when you get it done. Looking forward to seeing it again when you’re done. And to own it free and clear at your age, wow!! you’re crushing it! I’m curious, can someone who speaks little or no Spanish get by okay in Mexico City? Never been there. I’m sure you’ll learn the language, if you don’t speak it already, but wondered if it presents any obstacles for someone moving there who does not know the language.

Lots of people here don't speak english and get by perfectly fine. It helps A LOT to speak spanish though, especially when doing stuff like buying a house! I've been learning spanish for almost half my life (story for another day lol) so I'm fluent by now.

Was this a purchase or a long term lease? My understanding, and it might be dated, is Mexico doesn’t allow foreigners to purchase property. Either way congratulations and best to you.

Many Americans are moving to Mexico City 🚀 California being Spanish historically from the native “Californios” and now English in California both coexisting. Mexico City is like a California where both English and Spanish coexist. The entire earth is our home 🏡 with our fellow humans.
