I wish they'd kept the comic ending to this side story, where Eve says something like, "I wish in that moment, where I held so much power, I had chosen to help my mom and the doctor, instead of choosing revenge". She recognizes that she could've saved her mom or him and fix them organically, but she was so angry all she cared about was revenge.

God what I'd give to take a peek into Omni-Man's head during that mid-credits scene. I think he was going to kill them both and either give up trying to create a hybrid or try again somewhere else, but he ended up deciding to live out Debbie and Mark's life hoping he never develops powers. And after they die, that's when he'd conquer the planet.

Jeez, Eve has such an incredible backstory, full of lies and twists and loss and love. When I watched this it almost felt like I was watching Homelander's backstory if one of his handlers had smuggled him out of his facility as a child and let him live a normal life.

I agree although I was surprised by how horrible her parents were. I feel like it’s miracle she didn’t turn into a villian considering her childhood

@@mamaslillele yeah the parents' writing is comparable to Amber in season 1, just doing antagonistic, selfish things with no clear or defined motive. It makes them worse than 1-dimensional characters

@@bonaparte6431i mean amber wasn't selfish imo, just poorly written. If amber had better clarified that she knew but she just wanted honesty, it would have been better. Even eve said that multiple months is too long to go on without telling your partner atleast something. Idk. Also, amber did a lot of charity work and helped a lot of people, so idk if selfish is 100% accurate

@@bonaparte6431 Don't agree with this take at all. The dad is a bit simplistic, but he is unfortunately a very recognizable and very common type of person, someone who cares more about standards and appearances than the actual people in their lives. The mom is clearly conflicted - you can see she genuinely loves her daughter and wants both Eve and her husband to be happy, but ultimately always chooses to side with her husband. But even the dad has little moments of conflict, like he regrets hurting his daughter but he just can't help but choose himself over her. It's all too real, I've known way too many people who grew up with parents like this.

A tragic point you can miss at the end there as i think the line regarding it wasn't included for some reason, for a moment she was able to overcome her mental block regarding living tissue, and she could have potentially saved and restored her mother, but she was so focused on her rage she didnt think of it until it was too late.

@@vinsanity40k ? It's not a plot hole, did you pay attention at all lmao? The dr sets up the chekhov's gun of her having a mental block against modifying living creatures way earlier in the episode, and then she gets a very visually obvious temporary power amp from emotion overpowering the subconscious mental block, which she uses against the people she is extremely angry at in that moment to modify their memory. She even spells it out for you in that moment that during that period she can see, feel, taste every atom, and could make them entire different people if she desires, which might be what she did actually instead of just mere amnesia. It's not even remotely close to a plot hole, it's basic set up and pay off lmao.

@@rylace The unobservant and idiotic tend to think plot hole when they're more interested in nitpicking over cherrypicked bullshit instead of taking in the actual series. It's very common, and very obvious in a series like this or WOT.

I’ve probs said this a couple times, but whoever animated Omniman’s facial expressions in that last scene deserves a raise. The range and sequence of emotions expressed with such detail is simply astonishing. You can feel how much Nolan is pushing himself to feel that trademark viltrumite rage and hate towards lesser beings, and the horrible shame he felt realising that he even consider hurting mark and his mom. Truly a masterwork moment of animation.

Her backstory was in the comics, all be it in a much more condensed version in I think issue 24. Then there was a few issues of the Invincible Universe side series that expanded it a lot, which this was a pretty spot on adaptation of. And her power up thing happened a number of times in the series as well, but can't really be specific on that without spoiling stuff. lol

The big compendium has everyone's backstory like from the Teen Teams. Eve's story in the compendium was like 2ish pages. They did a great job beefing it up and more it MUCH darker. Her mom being "alive" was a major twist.

First I definitely agree that chemistry was really hard for me too. For some reason everything I tried to learn didn't stick for shit! On another note you guys are correct about every in regards to this episode. It's a 10/10 in all aspects!

I know this from another reaction channel, WGA and SAG listed a bunch of animated shows that are fine to do content on. I think, exept for Disney, that Amazon and HBO are just buying the cartoons from an animated studio, has in, they buy a final product and owns the distribution rights. BTW, A24 movies are good to do content on because the studio accepted everything both unions were asking for.

@@brandonreed09 He specifically says animals and people. So that means plants and microbial life should be fine to do. Not sure how it would handle a weird sentient plant thing though, which I think is likely to exist in the wacky universe of Invincible.

The thing that intrigues and worries me is in their announcement about how they’re only releasing half in November then the other half in early 2024 aside from the actual reasoning there was the caption. It’ll give you a chance to recover from the events of 2x04 😈 Now marketing gotta market I know BUT I don’t trust this show and if predicted comic shenanigans happen this season at the same pace as last season OH BOY

The father is not a parent, shouldn't have been allowed. Unlike proper parents who should want their kids to do well and surpass them, he takes it as just showing his weaknesses and can't stand it. He would have only been happy if the kid turned out just like him or a bit less. 🤬

Ye I honestly despise him. I hate him more than Omni-Man. Omni-Man has objectively caused much more harm in the world but at least he has redeeming qualities. Eve's dad is belittling or insulting her (weird/freak) or just being generally insensitive/impatient in like literally every single scene he has with her without exception. The best he does is feel small amounts of remorse when she doesn't respond well to him being an ass, but it doesn't seem like he ever learns, especially based on season 1 of the show. Maybe there's hope for him in the future, but I have doubts.

I'd eat a cottage cheese and olive sandwich for 1,000 bucks, heck i'd do it for 100! Ok so why do we call them hamburgers, ham is pork, and burgers are ground beef. I felt like Jay, got lost in my thoughts for way too long. Also why are her parents so crappy? I mean really, who eats a piece of birthday cake before person blows out candles? Why is her father so angry she's smart? he seems jealous of her. just weird. it's like he maybe knows down in his heart, she's not his, and that is daughter would be mediocre like him and his wife. she's no peach either. pun intended. she's almost as awful as her husband. I need to rewatch season 1 of Invincible, mostly for scenes with her and her parents. They were jerks in that too if I remember. Lol @ Adam read the comics. bwahaha Jay I felt like I was in church for a second.

No, this is loosely based on an actual Atom Eve one-off origin comic that came out during the Invincible run; the mainline Invincible story is still predominantly about the titular character. There are are couple other one-offs about other characters I could see them adapting like this in the future, though.
