@@anitaremenarova6662 For me the whole conflict between them is neither of them are really right. Mark didn't listen to Angstrom at all when he first showed up to that mind meld machine thing. Then Angstrom's many varients minds merged with his and he lost all sense of reality, so he sought revenge on Mark because his brain is a messy stew of evil Mark memories. Then Mark savagely beat him and lost control. Which he knows he shouldn't have done and could have been handle differently, but his emotions(like Angstroms) took over. There's more to it, but spoilers and shit. But ultimately it's sort of like they have each been reactive the entire time and each made bad calls along the way.

That Spider-guy voice actor is Josh Keaton, who played Spider-Man in The Spectacular Spider-Man animated series (the best Spider-Man cartoon IMO) and who briefly showed up for a line in Across the Spider-Verse, making his line about multiverse shenanigans even more apt.

Damn that moment after Mark kills Angstrom was insane. Steven Yuen deserves all the awards. How he was able to convey hearing the lie in his own voice when he tried to excuse his actions or justify them is just top tier acting…and he did it in a voice over performance!

No one wins in Mark’s situation. No protecting, no vengeance none of that saves ANY part of this. All you have is a LOT of hurt people in an unimaginable amount of pain. And if there IS an afterlife Aangstrom won’t be ok in ANY reality. Poor Old Eve put current Eve in a REALLY rough position and Mark being the ultimate decider only makes things worse. That’s a hard situation for ANYONE. Much more for 2 teenagers.

The ‘Invincible’ IMDb page shows season three of 2 episodes (it’s weird, I know) but the estimated air date is in 2024. So let’s cross our fingers for a late (at the very latest) 2024 season 3 premiere!

Seeing Mark have a mental breakdown at the fact that he killed Angstrom and thought he was stuck in a barren wasteland was heartbreaking, even though, yes, I do agree that Angstrom deserved to die. Mark justifiably killed him in self-defence, plus he also hurt Debbie and threatened Oliver. Angstrom Levy is also a tragic villain since he's struggling to juggle every memory of alternate versions of Angstrom in the multiverse. Still, in nearly every universe, Mark is evil and kills or ruins Angstrom's life in each of them. Even if it was all Angstrom's fault to begin with, I still can't help but feel a little sorry for him. Steven Yeun and Sterling K Brown did a phenomenal job and gave performances of a lifetime in this episode. It's also really emotionally surreal seeing Nolan actually miss his wife, and this is a tremendous development for him, especially when last season had him calling Debbie a 'pet'! CAN'T WAIT FOR SEASON 3! BTW, even though the show couldn't use the rights for Spider-Man because of Disney, I still LOVE hearing the Spectacular Spider-Man voice actor himself, Josh Keaton, return to play a Spider-Man-like character.

If I remember the comics correctly, in this universe too, Invincible killed his wife and child, accidentally during a battle with Omni. When I watched the end of the first season, I was sure that it was a woman and a child in a collapsed building. I don’t know why this idea wasn’t implemented, it would have given more motivation to the villain

For Mark, though, it’s not about what Angstrom deserved. It’s about his inability to control his power in a moment of rage. That is more dangerous and terrifying than anything in his life. And he may be the only person who did have the power to stop Angstrom without killing him or even help him remember the good man he was. That’s why he came around to the truth after trying to excuse or justify his actions. In the end, he lost control and wanted to kill Angstrom. He did have a choice, and he chose death. It’s why he dedicated his life to becoming better at the end of the episode. He can’t have another moment like that, or he’ll lose the thing that separates him from the evil versions of himself we see in the other dimensions.

They were collateral in a fight Mark didn't start, where Mark was brutally outmatched, where he was actively trying to save people, and where his combatant deliberately aimed to cause as much death as possible. Since Mark's autonomy in those events was effectively zero, it would disrupt the very effective onslaught of merciless evil that other Marks inflict on the world.

@@rgractorWhile I fully agree that Mark needs to gain better over control his anger as a consequence of these events, I fully disagree with Angstrom being talked down or stopped without deadly force. Man was throwing around a toddler for spite and ripped a woman's arm off for calling him out on his hypocrisy, that's not the hallmark of someone open to negotiation. He also went out of his way to promise Mark their deaths. He's dozens of broken minds melded into a fractured amalgamation and can create portals at will; there is no therapist capable of dealing with the former nor any prisons capable of holding the latter. There unfortunately weren't any other feasible solutions

@@relic5752 maybe not for me or for you, but Mark had the power to cripple him or incapacitate him without killing him. We’ve seen an alternate version of Mark snap Atom Eve’s neck so she’d survive but be paralyzed. He did not have to kill Angstrom, and he knows it. He killed Angstrom because he wanted to do it, not because he had no other choice or any of the other things he tried to tell himself. Angstrom pushed him far beyond any normal person’s breaking point, but Mark is far from any normal person. That’s why he was so broken, and that’s why he dedicated himself to becoming a hero who would never allow his rage (no matter how hard anyone tries to push him) to take over and turn him into a killer like his father. It’s not about Angstrom’s actions or what he deserved, it’s about Mark’s power and his decisions.

I don't know who invented this theory but I just have to let Adam know because it's really awesome: In most universes, Omni Man convinces Mark to join Viltrum and take over the Earth, in some realities Omni Man is taken down, either by evil Mark betraying his father, other Earth Heroes stopping both father and son, and the rarer universe where Mark is good, which Angstrom claim to be an anomaly, and probably bested his dad in Chicago although at the cost of more lives. But prime universe is different. Mark is a good guy but Nolan isn't defeated in combat. He changes his mind after Mark reached to him at the end of season 1. The main sign of this change IS Oliver. Viltrumites don't care about lesser beings, let alone breed with hideous ones. The little purple boy is the biggest sign of Nolan's redemption arc, that Viltrumites don't need to live by their adoctrination of Survival of the Fittest. And for fellow comic readers, you know this theory is very much confirmed by the end of the...War 😉

24:22 "So now things get started" I fucking love how true this is. There are 12 volumes of Invincible in total. The show is like, *maybe* halfway through volume 4. And some of the later arcs are *very* plot dense, I'm certain the show will want to dedicate more time to them. So yeah, we are only about a quarter into the story. Non-comic readers are in for a *wild* ride. Gotta petition Amazon to bump up that animation budget tho.

The animation looks a lot better than the first season. If they go for an anime look, this fundamentally changes the look of the series visually, which can be jarring. It was certainly jarring to me in the comics when that happened in the final volume.

@@crimsonghoul8983 Eh, the animation was still pretty spotty in some parts, even during action scenes where the most effort should be spent. I'm not asking for the art style to be changed, I just want the average quality to be improved. The shifts in animation quality can actually be really jarring sometimes, you go from these super smooth and detailed shots for a few seconds, then you get whiplash as it switches to the cheapest shit you've ever seen, with off-model art, heavy abuse of tweens, copy pasted assets, and little to no shading. It's a dead give away that Amazon is penny pinching on the animation budget. If invincible season 3 doubles that budget, suddenly we would be cooking, no more embarrassingly bad shots, and the action scenes wouldn't be nearly as constrained.

Like I said elsewhere, I think the show is handling the plot points far better than the comics did, with the exception of the Amber fiasco in season 1. It flows so much better, and here especially you get a real sense of Mark's trauma and coming to terms with what he just did compared to in the comics. I'm also glad they're not rushing the Mark/Eve thing. Knowing how it is in the comics, that really gotta be built well.

I remember seeing a theory that Mark either dies, or is converted in every universe that’s why Angstrom hasn’t come across Oliver in any other universe Omni-man left for Thraxa after he and Mark’s “conversation” In every other universe, Omni-man either kills or convinces Mark to join him

It is a Spider-Man voice! Josh Keaton, who voiced Spidey in Spectacular Spider-Man plus a ton of video games. He even cameoed as Spectacular Spider-Man in Across the Spider-Verse. I grew up on that show so he's still *the* definitive Spider-Man voice to me

People need to stop saying “how is Mark supposed to get home??” Well if Mark let levy live then he would’ve lied and went to murder Oliver and Debbie the first chance he got. He definitely made the right choice.

I think this episode proves that this reality’s version of Debbie is the primary influence that changes Mark, Nolan and Oliver’s existence. Even though it took Nolan longer than Mark, Debbie changed him fundamentally and in the other realities, he never leaves Earth due to his conflicts with his feelings so Oliver never happens. Also, Mark’s fundamental morals stem from his mother’s influence as well. So Debbie from the other realities must not be as head strong or morally strong and Nolan and Mark succumb to their viltrimite nature.
