Or young! My grandma back in the day got dentures in her 20s because she had bad teeth. She's 75 now and she still has no regrets. My dad had bad teeth his whole life as well and was very self conscious about his smile. So much so he wouldn't smile in pictures. When he was 50 my mom and him decided that the money was worth it for him to get dentures. It was well worth it to see him smiling in pictures and no longer self conscious about his smile! Especially since he passed 3 years ago at the age of 57,I'm glad he got those 7 years of confidence and we have pictures seeing him smile. ❤

I am an OG of invisalign, got them in 2005 finished in 2007 and 14 years later can absolutely say it was one of the best things I have done for my confidence and well being. Still wear retainers 3 x week and my teeth have never shift back so worth it!!

My 16yr old son finished his Invisalign treatment a couple of months ago and now just wears his nighttime retainer. His confidence has soared and nothing warms my heart more than seeing him smile proudly! It’s expensive, but we would pay it all over again.

Got my invisalign at 59, I had 3 kids and took care of all their teeth first. My insurance covered $1000 of it, and the entire process took 21 months and lots of attachments, and 2 sets if refinements. Wish I could have done it when I was younger, but better let than never. Worth every penny!! 🙂

I’m on week one and I can’t stand having these things in my mouth. My dentist says I will get used to it in two weeks. Is that accurate you think?
@bkristek
@bkristek 2 жыл бұрын
@@rebecca839 Yes, when I first snapped them in, I felt like I had to hold my mouth differently, and they were very intrusive. It gets much better. The initial switching of trays was very painful for me, and my teeth moved a LOT, but as I went through the trays, my teeth got less sensitive. I hit my last tray in May this year, and my orthodontist decided to do some refinements, so I have 8 more trays to get through, and honestly, I can't even feel them anymore. Main advice: don't skimp on wearing them, I have been super religious about wearing them for as many hours as possible, and it has made the entire experience faster and the results better. Good luck, I hope they start to feel more natural for you soon!!!!!

I started using that toothpaste based on your recommendation, and at my most recent teeth cleaning appointment, the hygeinist stopped mid-way through to ask what toothpaste I use. When I told her, she BEGGED me to stop. She said that whitening toothpastes have fine granuals that scratch your teeth and is definitely not good for your enamel. Just thought I’d pass that along..

I had a crooked bite and spent six months fixing that problem. I had Invisalign for 18 months because I wasn’t keeping them in for the 22 hours but more like 16-18 hours a day. Totally worth it! My jaw doesn’t lock any more and I don’t clench my teeth as often.

That story about popping them back in is funny because my dentist just straight up said it's not practical to be constantly brushing your teeth so just have a large drink of water after eating and pop them back in and then brush your teeth and tray when you get home 😂

Yay! So glad you’re doing an update! I watched all your prior videos before (finally) starting mine and it really motivated me to just bite the bullet and get it done. I’m on week 13 out of 20 and my only regret is not doing it sooner! Edit to add: I’m glad you touched on the self esteem part. It was something I always hated and felt self conscious about. I actually cried when the dentist told me they could fix my smile. You don’t realize how deep it affects you until you start seeing the progress. It’s like an internal weight has been lifted 🙌 Thanks so much for sharing your Invisalign journey!

I just found your videos a few days ago about your journey with Invisalign because in a few weeks I will be starting this journey. It finally hit me that I needed to do braces because I have a receding gum in the front {yes I am self-conscious to smile) and so I was referred from a periodontist to the orthodontist and I am not regretting doing this. So in 18 months when I turn the big "50", I will have straighter teeth and a much bigger smile. So thank you for making these videos.

So cool to hear your story! I chose to do Invisalign at a perfect time when I was still covered by my parents’ insurance as well as the insurance from my job. Most major dental insurance plans cover a set amount of lifetime orthodontic work. In the end, I think I paid roughly $1200 for Invisalign, which I completed over about 10-12 months with regular office visits. The office I worked with was very upfront about the costs, and I was even reimbursed in the end because I didn’t need as much as the Invisalign plan covered. Best decision I’ve made for myself in my 20s!

Thanks so much for the update! I had braces for almost 4 years when I was younger. Let’s just say lots of issues. lol However, I did not wear my retainer as I should have once I got married and soon after, noticed my teeth were shifting. Over the years it just got worse and I went back-and-forth on whether or not to try Invisalign or go back to traditional braces. After watching your couple of videos, I finally decided to you move forward with Invisalign in February of this year. I’m getting close to halfway through my journey, and I’ve already have seen so many changes! It really does work if you’re committed to wearing them correctly and I can’t wait to see the final results next spring! I can say from someone who’s had both traditional braces and Invisalign, I much prefer Invisalign as long as you are committed to wearing them correctly.

After years of thinking about it, I had my free consultation last week. I had few follow up questions for the orthodontist and I would get complete answers by this week, so I am hoping I would just finalize about it and confirm that I would like to start the treatment by end of this week! :) The problem with my teeth is having overbite, my front teeth are too much protruding and it would take 2 years to fix, that's what i heard. But better now than later to start the treatment, and 2 years would just fly by and I would thank myself after 2 years that i went ahead and did it.. that's how I am motivating myself in to committing myself to it! :) Just came across your Invisalign videos today, and it was the perfect time that I needed to have that motivation from someone who has done it! Thanks Jessica !

I found your channel because of your invisalign videos - and they pushed me to get it last August! like you, my bite was bad and I was getting headaches. My smile actually looked good - but I was tired of being in pain. I 100% AGREE that my future self is thanking last year me for doing this. It sucks- yes. The attachments suck - yes. But I'm not in pain anymore! I'm seriously so happy that at 38 I decided to do this. I also paid about $4500. DO NOT DO SMILE DIRECT! I had to have teeth shaved and filed down to accommodate movement. Smile Direct can't do that! Also, I think people don't realize that if you take them out for a longer period of time, just leave them in an extra day or two and you're good!

Your teeth look great! Love your invisalign videos. 💕 So informative! Have just started my invisalign treatment. I'm in week 1 of 17. 15 trays. My orthodontist says that will do. Feeling lucky. Drinking latte with a straw right now. Had white wine at a party this weekend. Did not stress about it, thanks to your tips. Thanks! 🥰

Your smile looks great! I had braces as a kid and unfortunately stopped wearing my retainer after a bunch of years. My teeth shifted a bit but so far they still look pretty good and I'm hoping they stay that way!

Teeth have memory so they will shift back how they were over time. I know from experience. I had braces twice once when I was a kid and now that I’m adult. My dog ate my retainer and my teeth moved back out. They weren’t as bad as it was but it was too gnarly for Invisalign so I got braces again.

I agree with Ashley your teeth will shift. If they aren't so bad now that you need braces again, go in and get a retainer to keep them how they are now.

Thanks so much for sharing! I just started mine so it was nice to watch your 3 videos on it. Thanks for all the tips. Your teeth look great! I just wanted add something about the price. I went to two consultations, one I was quoted 6500 and one was 5000. I went with the cheaper because I was very comfortable with them and they were closer to home. If I didn't really like her I would pay the higher price or look for a third option. The $50 I paid for the consultation was taken off the final cost. (So if you go through with it your consultation is free). If you pay in full you get a slight discount. I got a brand new Amex card with Delta sky miles. Not only did I get the bonus miles for spending a few thousand in the first few months but I got one year interest free. So I paid in full and made my own budget to get that card paid off in a year. And with the delta miles it's like I got 1k knocked off the price : ) Also, most insurance will cover some orthodontics. A quick phone call and you can find out. Mine was going to pay 1200. But not up front, they were going to pay 120 a month. And since I paid in full I'd get reimbursed. (I lost by job that's why that's past tense.) Don't brush your trays with toothpaste, it has little exfoliating beads so it will scratch them. And be sure to put your name and phone number on your case incase you loose it. Mine are a $60 replacement fee. Don't wash in hot water, or drink hot liquids. I would not recommend using the smile direct club. You need to meet the orthodontist in person to get a feel of you trust them or not, nothing can replace a one on one human consultation. Also when you go in, ask them if a refinement (change of plans) is include in the price and if your retainer is also included or extra. I have one refinement in my total price and if I decide I need any more changes it's an extra $600. Of my orthodontist decides she wants more refinements or it goes over one year estimate there is no extra cost. Ask them how they remove the "buttons". When I had braces a million years ago when they removed the little metal things attached to my teeth they removed the enamel on my teeth. So if you look super close you can see the little square they made when they shaved off the glue. When they do your X-rays always ask for a thyroid collar. I don't know why no one ever does this for all clients and why you have to ask for it! Ok that's all I've got to add lol. If your thinking about it, just do it! It's so worth it.

I got Invisalign... in May as a 32 year old.🎉😁 I had braces when I was a teenager and my retainer was lost when I was 18. My new retainer never fit right and I stopped wearing it. I had really crooked teeth as a child and was devastated my teeth weren't straight anymore. It's been a self confidence issue with me for a long time. You inspired me to get invisalign. I use your tip for coffee with a straw everyday! 🤣

I agree with your tips and tricks. I wish I wouldn’t have waited so long. I kept thinking “what if I meet someone” “what if I want to get married” “what if I do…” etc etc. I finally told myself that I was doing this for me and if I met someone and they didn’t like it, they could go kick rocks, or if it didn’t work for some other random what if, then eff it. So glad I finally did it!

Out of curiosity, did you meet your man while you had it?! I see your profile pic of your lovely family :) I'm struggling with the exact same "what ifs." I'm mad at myself for starting this just now as summer is about to kick off, and can't say I'm feeling confident enough to flirt with anyone.

Just finished mine in June. Only took me 6 months, I was a lucky one that never needed refinements during the process. Mine cost around $4000 also. My dental insurance covered about half, which they told me is pretty typical for most cases. So so glad I did it, and I agree with you. If it's something you've wanted to do forever, go do it now. It wasn't nearly as bad as braces as a kid were, and honestly it flew by.

I got braces on my top teeth back before invisalign became more accessible/popular. Over 10 years later (since taking braces off) and I still wear my retainer every night. I can skip it sometimes but if I go too many nights without my teeth still shift. Just putting that out there for anyone who's curious about the long term. Like Jess said, it just becomes a part of your routine and you stop noticing it.

Your teeth look fabulous! Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this. Having had cleft palate surgeries and extensive braces as a kid I’ve noticed my teeth shifting as an adult. 😭 To others they look fine but to me I’m not satisfied but still too chicken (or lazy or financially lazy) to pull the trigger for Invisalign. I’m like 85 percent there. Your story helped me get a little closer to pulling the trigger.

I got braces when I was a teenager and the retainer I got was not good at holding my teeth so one tooth shifted fast. I made an appointment with a different orthodontist to talk about Invisalign and the orthodontist said honestly that one tooth wouldn’t have much room to go back/ move like yours. He said honestly I’d spend lots of money to fix one tooth that wouldn’t even move a whole lot. Since then I have ALWAYS thought maybe I’ll get them anyway, I’m SO happy you mentioned that about your tooth. It makes me feel so much better knowing that I’m not the only one lol
