As a white belt I tried this on a 4 stripe black belt. I woke up after the class was over.

Please Rickson continue to add these quick ground technique breadowns. Its amazing. Ive been to several high level academies throughout my 20+ years of jiujitsu practice and I just learned more important details in this 2 min clip than seeing this technique demonstrated a hundred times by multiple skilled practitioners.

As a blue belt, I tapped my first brown belt using exactly this. Every detail matters. Learned it indirectly from Henry Akins. Fantastic material. Get it. Learn it. May save your life.

Henry is hands down, one of the best. He just got what Rickson intended to teach.

Excellent! More self defense breakdowns please! Emphasis on the stand-up aspects of Jiu-Jitsu is a huge missing-piece in most dojos today.

When he said: "This grip does not exist in jiu jitsu" who had a reality check?
@slamdunktiger Жыл бұрын
If you've ever done kendo training or even fencing, you'll also know that the grip provided by the "lesser" fingers is absolutely critical, particularly the pinky. This is why Yakuza punishments are cutting digits off the "lesser" fingers one part at a time, so the subordinate learns from their mistake and has to follow their senpai/leader more competently. By removing these digits, one becomes a progressively weaker sword fighter when wielding say, a katana. This principle is inverted in its application for the this choke from the rear back take. Same idea though, you don't let the smaller fingers block you from extending the full range of motion to power the choke. Very technical nuance. Incredible.

Great! This is how two fingers are just enough to finish the choke, unstoppable.

@kekoaikaikafonseca29845 күн бұрын
“Stretch” not “ pull “. When your grips are in the correct spot, when you “ stretch “your self away from the grips it cause a reaction that leads to the choke. Stretch “ oppose to pull is because those grips DO NOT MOVE. Your arms will only go so far amd in the process of stretching is cause a squeez feeling which is those choke. 🙏
@kekoaikaikafonseca29845 күн бұрын
Last note lol: think of it like grandmas secret recipe, if that first ingredient isn’t correct it won’t be the same (you won’t get the choke) wel your chances drop a bunch. Hahhaa
