I've had the Invoxia for about 3 weeks. In light of your previous review, I went that direction because they offered 4g. I'm delighted. It has worked flawlessly on any vehicle I have put it in using the highest reporting rate, including detecting motion within a couple minutes. In the weeks of moderate use I've charged it only once. It does everything as advertised. The downside, if any, and maybe more of a suggestion, is I would like to see position reporting with a last ping after all motion had ceased. If it stops within a few minutes of the last report it could be quite a distance away from that point which would make the Bluetooth proximity radar ineffective because you need to be very close to the vehicle to use it. That said, I love the ease of use of the app and the otherwise accurate reporting. Going to buy more units for my other vehicles.

Read before you purchase! It's possible at the time of most of these reviews on the Invoxia GPS 2 years ago that service was better but not the case now. Wasted over $100 bucks for something that stays dead in a kitchen drawer. If you select updates every 5 minutes you will need to charge in less than a week. Although it's cute and small, there's serious inadequacies. I'm in Houston Texas and this thing still can't connect or when it does it's sporadic. In NO way would you be able to track a bike with such delay and lack of true real time tracking. They won't let you return it once you figure out how bad this product is. Save yourself time and money and research other gps. I ended up spending another $$$ for a MoniMoto. Worked great out the box with NO charging for 1-2 years, no monthly fees until 2 years, TRUE real time tracking...no lines and dots. You can actually view images of where the gps is. I'll post updates as needed for this product but I'm very pleased, especially with notification in seconds not minutes!

Here in Europe, The trackers sold use the Sigfox / LoRa network. I wanted to use it for my motorbike. I stopped using it, as I discovered that it loses communication as soon as it moves faster then approx 40 Mls, or 60km/h. Invoxia confirmed this to be according specifications. This is because it uses Sigfox / LoRa network to communicate. Only usable for anything that won`t go any faster...... Maybe for a bicycle... (as long as it isn`t hault on a car or truck after being stolen....)

Great Video. I may try that device. One thought on keeping it plugged in to a charger full time. It's my understanding and experience with my devices, batteries have a finite number of charging cycles before the battery capacity declines. I have read 500-1000 cycles. Every time you turn on your bike, you will be using one of those cycles even if the battery didn't really need charged. This is why I only plug in my phone, iPad, laptop, etc. when they need charged rather than keeping them plugged in constantly. Something to consider.
@mattinvoxia3515
@mattinvoxia3515 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Jeff, this is an excellent question and you make a good point. You're absolutely right that batteries will slowly degrade over hundreds if not a thousand charge cycles. Generally, you complete one charge cycle when you’ve used (discharged) an amount that equals 100% of your battery’s capacity - but not necessarily all from one charge. As the tracker consumes a very small amount of energy, even if you only managed to get a week of use out of each full charge (very pessimistic), you're going to see upwards of 9 years of use before you reach 500 cycles. Generally, for a vehicle that is ridden regularly we advise that the tracker is only charged while the vehicle is operating (and not linked directly to the vehicle's battery). Unless your bike is packed away for winter and unridden for months at a time, this is generally the optimum scenario. The tracker will recharge while you're riding/driving and return to relying on its battery once the vehicle is turned off.

I think your suppose to put the strap around a tube and then thread the unit through the opening of the loop and pull it tight.... assuming they didn't scr3w up and make the loop to short. So even if it bounces around, it's securely attached around a frame member or something and isn't going anywhere, even if it were danging right out into the air.

Hi Martin, thanks for your question! As you've noticed, at the moment our tracking products aren't yet available in Canada. We're working hard to expand availability of our Cellular GPS Tracker and as 4G LTE-M network coverage expands into new markets, we hope to be able to bring our products to them. (For example, the Cellular GPS Tracker became available in Germany late last year.) Please don't hesitate to keep an eye on our website for any further announcements. We'd of course love to help Canadians protect their bikes too! -Matt from Invoxia

@mattinvoxia3515

Hi Tim, at this time it's not possible to manually export the tracking data although on request our support team can usually help out if you have a specific time period where you require the data. At the moment the Cellular GPS Tracker is only supported in the U.S. although we're working hard to expand support to new countries as 4G LTE-M are installed around the world. In Europe we have a very similar tracker which operates on other low-power communications networks called SIGFOX and LoRa. These trackers have been on the market for several years now and coverage is expanding every day.

I bought the monimoto in January. I was not happy that was only 2 and 3G. I wanted to upgrade or return the unit ... still unused in original packing but the box seal opened. Monimoto declined to assist suggesting that I sell it. They have a return period policy and I was outside the limit. My fault for not researching the product thoroughly but I would have thought that they might have offered a future upgrade but not so, despite what they said to Cruiseman. Expensive for a limited lifespan.

@cruisemansgarage

That depends on how often you have it set to send a signal. If you set it to every 10-12 minutes, it should last more than 2 weeks. On the most frequent setting, it "may" last two weeks, but just depends. Mine was at 43% after 9 days.
@mattinvoxia3515

Hi Kevin, there are quite a few different factors which will determine the battery life over any given period. Some environmental (Are you in dense urban or sparse rural areas? Are there a lot of obstructions like tall buildings or dense forests nearby?), and some behavioral (How many hours will you be actively moving each day? Will you have your smartphone with you most of the time? What update frequency have you chose?). In order to extend your battery life as much as possible, the Tracker intelligently switches between several different location technologies based on WiFi, GPS and Bluetooth. In a situation where you're on a long ride and the tracker senses your smartphone running the companion app is in close proximity, the tracker will save its own battery and use your phone's internet connection to relay its position to the server. The tracker will also 'hibernate" while stationary for extended periods of time. That way, at the end of a long day of riding, for example, it will be consuming very little power.

I don't think that any of us here are on a unlimited budget, which means that we need to protect our investment. This product helps with at a affordable cost. Does that mean that our bikes won't get stolen, no. But will help with the recovery. The sooner it is recovered, the less the chance it will be hacked apart, we hope.

have a question: I live in Australia, and was wondering about purchasing this for my ebike (similar to the aerial rider grissly)...would it be suitable for the Australia market, and what the cost would be and would it be compatible with our 5G networks, but currently at the present time, we are still on a 4G network where there is no 5G.... the other thing too, is would be compatible with the Australian market and networks like OPTUS & TELSTRA....or would I need to stay with the company that is in the US? I look forward to your reply....you can email me thanks. Reason am asking is that I have purchased my e-bike worth A$5,200 and would like to protect it, with the WSDCAM Anti Theft device + the GPS Tracker, and also at the same time have insurance....but main thing is to have the 2 devices on there, this is why am asking, about compatibility due to living in Australia.

Is this device even necessary with the availability of Apples Air Tags($29). Not sure how this would be better?
@cruisemansgarage
@cruisemansgarage 3 жыл бұрын
Doug, AirTags rely on a network of iPhones to track the item. If someone stole your motorcycle and has an iPhone, you could probably track it pretty easily. However, if they do NOT have an iPhone, you would only know the location of the motorcycle when it came within Bluetooth range of another iPhone. The Invoxia has its own built-in cellular communicator that will transmit its GPS location regardless.

Please go back and review this again and perhaps check around to see the many problems lots of people are having with it. There is virtually no support for the product other than ZenDesk which is an outsourced tech support service and is not run by the company. Their solution is to reboot your phone as the answer to almost every problem. People need to be aware that there is no way to call anyone at the company. The problem are numerous, the position reporting isn't remotely consistent, app updates have rendered it practically useless and the proximity feature hasn't worked for most anyone for a long time. Reviewers have a responsibility to do more than collect clicks and monetized benefits, they also have a responsibility to insure the glowing reviews they write reflect more than a picture taken on one day for free products or otherwise some financial benefit.

I sniped a brand new one with 3 year plan included for $35. It says that on the box... 3 year plan. It doesn't seem to be terribly useful for at all for real time theft recovery... the GPS location is sporatic and off by.... blocks. And it's always where your bike has been, but now is gone, not where it currently is. At best if it gets parked for a while and stays in the same location maybe you'll get a useful fix. I'm counting on it only as a last ditch security system, because watching someone test this out in a real world test proves how involved it is. So multilayer defense with a thick chain and unpickable locks, and 8 rape alarms with fish line attached to the pins as my first and second line.
