If I saw this band for the first time just now, watching this video, I might say "Oh no...look at this dude in the leather pants," but all it would take is that first line for me to then say "Nevermind, he can do whatever the hell he wants." Michael really was the guy every girl wanted and what every guy wanted to be. And INXS was the band you wanted to hear and the band you wish you were in. I can't say how happy I am for their existence.

INXS was arguably the biggest band in the world in the late 80s going into the very beginning of the 90s before the alt rock revolution of 1991-92. The proof was sold-out concerts around the globe, as well as seven consecutive top 10 singles on the Billboard chart between 1986 and 1990. And the reason was that with the exception of maybe U2, they played live better than any other band, as well as Michael Hutchence, arguably the best combination of raw sex appeal, charisma and vocal talent in rock history. They played as if they were in a pub, no matter the size of the venue. Pub rock at its finest 👍
@Casherr932 жыл бұрын
They were in their peak in 91', 1992 was when the grunge movement entered
@kreemothedreamo2 жыл бұрын
@@Casherr93 First off, if you ask most people familiar with INXS’ history what was the individual peak year for the band, they’d probably say 1988, the year when most of the tour for ‘Kick’, an album with four American top 10 singles, took place (although the album was released in Fall 87), as well as the year INXS won five awards (out of nine nominations) at the MTV Video Music Awards, including becoming the first of only four bands in VMA history to win both Video of the Year and Viewers’ Choice awards in the same year (the others being Aerosmith in 94, TLC in 95, and Green Day in 2005). Second, in regards to dating the beginning of the alternative rock revolution, namely the precise timeframe it could be said when alt rock entered the mainstream, it would probably be the fall of 1991, when the three seminal albums indicating alt rock’s (or “grunge’s”) entrance into the mainstream were released: Ten by Pearl Jam released in late August 91, Nevermind by Nirvana in late September 91, and Badmotorfinger by Soundgarden in early October 91. Additionally, looking at the broader spectrum of what has been understood as alternative rock, and specifically when it entered the mainstream, two other notable releases were Blood Sugar Sex Magik by the Chili Peppers released in late September 91, as well as Out of Time by REM, released in March 91, whose main single’s video for ‘Losing My Religion’ swept that year’s VMA’s. Finally, the Use Your Illusion albums by GnR released in mid-September 91 (and to a certain extent, Metallica’s self-titled ‘Black’ album released in mid-August 91) came to largely be seen as mainstream rock’s transitional works between 80s metal and 90s alternative

@@andyd6338 Correct. They had a long apprenticeship in Australia before becoming known internationally. They used to drive from Sydney to Melbourne and back or even across the desert to Perth. They did pub bands and in Australia that is the real test of how good you are as a rock band. Anyway, Mike was just 1 month older than me so I grew up with that band and loved them all. They were special and after Mike's death, things really didn't go well for them when they tried a revival. Michael was too hard to replace. They were all excellent musicians in their own right though.

@historia_plena3 жыл бұрын
@historia_plena3 жыл бұрын
@historia_plena3 жыл бұрын
