In this tutorial I will show you how to split an image in Adobe Illustrator. Open an image, and go to object - slice - create from selectio, then with the image selected go again to object - slice - divide slices, and it open an window, and there you can select in how many parts do you want to split the image(horizontally, vertically), then click ok, and then go to file - export - save for web and you can choose jpeg and the folder you want to save this splitted images.

Hello. The template I drew is bigger than A4 paper size, I need to print it on two A4 sheets. How can I save the file as PDF with margins?

how abput if i want to save my slices a a Print quality PDF?

If you want to save as pdf it saves the whole image , only to crop each part of the slices and right click - export selection and choose format - pdf.

can i cut it in 2 layers to continue work with layers in illustrator?

You can cut the image or you can create clipping mask for each slice part if you want and place the slice parts in layers

hi there's no drop down menu like that in my properties, actually nothing below X and Y is showing. 😭

hi, you must update your illustrator program for that. But the simple way is to import an image in program and if you want to change the artboard size just select the artboard tool (shift+O) from left side and just drag the corner to have the same size like the image.

i think this method is not effective because it does not give you room for adding bleed on the artwork which is vital when doing branding

Nope, you went to fast and started selecting things without telling us what you did. I had to play this make 10 times just to see why my options were not the same as yours
