An important update: as of iOS 14.5 (released in April 2021), this technique *does not work*, as Apple has removed the feature it relied on (except for on enterprise-managed devices with a paid Apple corporate account-those are still allowed to work so that proprietary employee-only apps aren’t impacted). Now, unmanaged devices can only use private “device profiles” for a very small list of things such as installing fonts. Custom icon launch is no longer in that more limited list.

I don't know what I'm doing wrong :( I gave permission to the untrusted shortcut and followed your step to the point where you choose your personalized icon, but then it says that I have created an icon but don't know what to do next.

so i had the same problem but you just need to go to files where you saved the setup, click on that so it says something with installed and go to settings (profile) and the you can do all other steps that are shown in the video hehe- hope i could help you in any way!

Try when you click on the mountain and it says that you can’t run it or it can’t be supported click on details and allow the short cut to us internet hope that helps !

I’m not sure if this is the best way to protect your information, but you can turn on your VPN under settings and it should be protected

Followed all the steps and got the icons to my home screen... but it's still going through Shortcuts before it actually opens the app :( Has this happened to anyone else, and does anyone know how to fix it?

Unfortunately, as of iOS 14.5, Apple has removed the functionality used here except for enterprise-managed devices-it used a trick that was designed for things like employee-only apps that companies wouldn’t want to share on the public App Store, and previously non-managed devices could use it too with bespoke “management”, but that’s now mostly no longer true. (A few things where there’s literally no other workaround-like installing fonts-have been retained, but most of these are now totally gone.)

yep! it's legit - check their faq at the bottom on the website they answer some questions about security and you also see others who have used it commenting. there's so many possibilities with the shortcuts app so people share their own custom shortcuts all the time! apple just makes it look all scary with the permissions and all

go to whatever website she put (i’m sorry if those aren’t their pronouns) and hit home, then add it to an email, like create and account with it, then it sends a verif. email, confirms it, then search on the top right after and look up icon themer and it should show what she showed. then hit add to shortcut or whatever, but you have to allow untrusted shortcuts in settings first, then it should say like do you wanna add it and say yes, then you just have to click on the mountain thingie, insert an app you want, choose a pic and yeah
