That AI voice is shockingly realistic. I didn't even notice. Wild times.

My conclusion after this video is: Google should force a new way of taking photos with those apps. Something to give those apps direct access to smartphones photo processing feature that are done by default camera app. All those photos taken with those apps on Google Pixel look like they were taken by a shoe.

For Snapchat on Android, if you use the Night Mode (moon icon top right), it will actually use the API for Pixel's Night Sight and images become noticably sharper.

What the hell, these apps make android phones take a 4 megapixels photo in 2024 ? This is ridiculous 😡

So basically everyone should be uploading directly from their camera roll if they care about quality, including iOS users. I would be interested to see a follow up video showing the differences in camera roll upload quality to these apps (making sure picture upload quality is set to max of course).

A few years ago Android was not a good choice for social media. But now, Android has nearly same experience as iphone. I am a long time ios User (from 4s to 14pro). Now ı have s23 for trying. And ı like it so much, it is my first Android device. And social media upload quality is very nice. If it was a question mark for u, dont worry about it.

Ive been waiting for this video from you since forever. But I'm glad that the processing of the default camera app is what is used in the social media apps on the s24 ultra. I have personally found the s24 ultra to be usually underexposed and having a magenta tint with the default camera app and that is exactly what I saw in the social media apps which is a good thing but also a bad thing

9:33 how can you call that a draw? That image is just better, because they're social media apps, ig android app dev have added saturation to every picture. Mostly in social media apps, or in general, people like bright images, and this is the only time where 15 pro max looses but, i don't know why, this felt a lot more biased towards iphone even if the photo's were out right trash from iphone in night mode.

This is a very interesting test, but PLEASE remake it next month after the One UI 6.1.1 update, as it's advertised to address manyyy of these issues Please please please please!!

It always annoys me how other tech reviewers don't talk about social media image or video quality. Because realistically that's what people are using most of the time when they take or upload photos

i really cannot understand why snapchat doesn`t use the native camera api by default for photos you can get it better results using night mode and with videos you get the stabilization in director mode using s24u rn and it is really annoying when capturing videos using snapchat you need extra steps to get better results

First I don't use social media crap apps but if I were to, I would rather take a picture with the camera app and then upload it from a camera roll to the app directly

The biggest difference comes when you upload a video. The videos uploaded to Instagram stories through an iPhone are 10 times better than the same video being uploaded through any android phone

As a Pixel owner, it has never bothered me that I need to use my camera app and then upload from there. It just makes more sense to me even if the quality was identical.

Comparaison method is good but lacks important aspects: 1- Video Quality 2- direct upload from phone storage 3- Settings for best quality

Snapchat uses the CameraX API on the Pixel, which allows it to take higher resolution images and access native Night Mode processing. That isn't the case wirh Instagram though. Also, that AI voice is shockingly accurate!

Lot of youtubers including this guy always mistake sharpened images for details. iPhone isnt naturally sharp, its processed sharp and you shouldnt be mistaking that for details. Samsung has no oversharpening going on but gets mistaken for less details when clearly it has details. As far as Pixel goes, it also oversharpenes same like iPhone in stock camera but in Insta and Snap it's just doing screen capture of viewfinder so its actually BAD. SHARPENING IS NOT SAME AS DETAILS. Know the difference when image is processed sharp vs naturally sharp iPhone's sharpness is just lots of software processing. It clearly looks oversharpened but i guess 90% people do not see it.

There's a weird sound in the background like an echo or a distortion of some sort but the voice itself is super realistic with no difference between AI and real voice over

One important thing to note is that these apps use CameraX or 2 API. Both Galaxy S24 Ultra and Pixel 8 Pro support these APIs... But for some odd reason, all the extensions such as (Auto, Bokeh, HDR, Face Retouch) are deactivated on Pixel phones except for Night mode. This is probably why Pixel 8 Pro performed well when it comes to night mode. I don't know why Google hasn't enabled them yet. For now, the best way to get good quality snap on pixel 8 pro, is to use night mode even in daylight

I'm really glad with the 24 Ultra. In photos I think its a tie with iphone, but in videos on social media apps, the iPhone is a lot better. Still not enough for me to to switch back to iphone anytime soon. Android rules!

Idea for another video: Check the quality of the uploaded pics from gallery of the three devices. Maybe true bt the myth is that the photos from iphone looks sharper after uploading than the other devices

end of the day he is just a iPhone lover he gives 3 point to the iPhone for getting a sharper image on Instagram and won't give 3 points to Samsung for getting sharper image on snapchat and choose iPhone for lower sized image and unsharpened photo on snapchat great job bro

I don't understand why you include one ui. For me, this is clearly an iOS vs. android, I don't think developers make apps for one ui

They are great, but sometimes it seems that 8 Pro or S24U is great, though. It is based on preference. I like how Snapchat can use all 4 camera lenses on the S24U with Night mode and more stable video than 15PM. In terms of night time, 8 Pro and S24U pulls ahead of 15 Pro Max. Overall, it's still 15PM, which is the most consistent, but they aren't different too much.

Recently upgraded from a pixel 6 to an s24 ultra. Prior to that, had a pixel 3 XL. Really missing aspects of the pixel and still getting to grips with the s24 ultra. Hope in time I'll get to love the s24 ultra the way I did my pixels!!

there was a time where pixel phones could use HDR for photos on IG & snap because of the visual core which google took out of the pixel 4 for a reason i cant remember. either way..native camera 4 life 🤙🏾😅

The one thing that makes it obvious it's AI is the punctuation. The AI voice doesn't punctuate sentences as well as a human

I always use the native camera on my phone to upload to my social media apps. That's the reason why I bought a Pixel 8 Pro in the first place to show the good quality pics. I have zero need or desire to use 3rd party camera apps, and as long as the Pixel continues to keep and maintain its native camera quality I can careless of these third party apps

The takeaway here is that the in app camera on every platform and device is complete and utter garbage. If you compared all of these photos to any photo taken with the native camera app, they would all be decimated by even the worst photo. People keep saying social media apps have decent cameras on iOS but this video proves that categorically wrong.

I like these 3 brands, they have (overall) the best on software. But no excuses are accepted for this much downgrade in camera social media apps on Top android phones in 2024. We clearly know that this problem won't be solved in 2025 nor 2026. Yes it is to social media devs to implement the camera API or better processing but they won't do the work after each major android update.

Pixel phones don't run "Stock Android", that's a skin over stock base, just like OneUI is.

S24u camera takes full res photos when open inside instagram camera and upload, but as soon as u upload something from gallery which u have clicked earlier, the quality instantly poops down!!
