Awesome videos . To anyone down grading deer drives can go fly. It’s one of the oldest forms of hunting and one of the most successful especially when seasons are short and terrain is basically what u guys have. The way u manage them is top notch. Keep it up looks like a blast and that’s the fun part. We used to do them but lost a lot of people. Keep it up be safe have fun.

Shotgun season in this great state is my time to fill the freezer and hangout with family and friends. I bow hunt for the big boys but grew driving deer at deer camp. I don't drive my bow hunting farms so the haters can keep on scrolling lol

Great videos! I wish I had the opportunity to hunt like this. A perfect combination of hunting, family, friends and the work that follows the hunt. Thank you for sharing these. Looking forward to next year’s hunt. Already binge watched the earlier years since I found them.😊

No sir. Deer drives can be fun, can help control herd numbers to keep it healthy, it is an enjoyable activity but its not hunting. Unless you are hunting for an area to make an animal use its natural instincts to get away from the noisy humans. Call it shooting and I will agree with you all day long. Ive actually hunted for 45+ yrs. You know, get into an area and try to outsmart them in their own living room and let the chips fall where they lay. I will never talk shit about someone being in the woods and enjoying what SkyDaddy has gifted us but please please please just call it what it is. Drives rarely have to deal with wind, scent, noise control or anything that mother nature can throw at you. I do like to watch the videos but its purely entertainment and not a “hunt” in my opinion. Before you disregard my comments I have several on my wall from hanging in a tree and going head to head with them and I have shot several in drives. So i do try and look from both sides, I just have an issue with people calling this hunting and not shooting.

@@samueljones6021 So pheasant and rabbit hunting in the same fashion is not hunting? That horse is high. Any advantage you can use legally goes. I'm glad you have your trophies and enjoy the sport. I have also moved from doing deer drives in the 90's to killing only the deer I have hit listed but I still respect these guys out busting their butts for 5 days (and a couple hops fueled butchering nights) to get the job done for friends and neighbors.
@jimlahey3919

The only people who think deer drives are real hunting are those who don’t know how to hunt. If you can’t scout and get within range of a deer naturally, you’re not a hunter. Getting deer to run around full speed and let 6 guys take shots at them is not hunting. It requires no skill or preparation. Any moron can get a deer to run away from them in the woods. Pathetic. Using dogs is the only thing more pathetic

@@EdWolfram Please dont get it twisted Ed . Its hard to explain, truly, with your response. Im on same page. Ive deer hunted,duck, rabbit, anything with fir or feathers in my 50+ yrs, but you assume too much. HUNTING in my humble opinion is trying to harvest a targeted species on an even playing ground. So unless you are missing something or have a different definition than I do then definitely not. To make an animal do something and be in an area that benefits me vs being in a position to take that target and it have no idea you are even there are 2 totally different. 1 is shooting and 1 is hunting. 🤷🏻‍♂️ sorry.

I finally had time to binge watch part 1-5 and thoroughly enjoyed it, that's how I found your channel years ago. Brings back good memories of driving deer in West Central Illinois with my family. I'm now DNR in Missouri and I'm glad you're taking the precautions of having your deer tested. Not sure how Iowa DNR does things but here it's voluntary so I always recommend testing when possible. Was a little suprised at the end when you said you were 46, you definitely seem younger. Thanks for sharing these hunts all these years. I always enjoy them. Merry Christmas to you and your family. 🙏

Ron I’d be sitting in a stand in the evenings on the second shotgun hunt if I still had a buck tag. I find myself and have a lotta time to reflect and really just think about everything in a deer stand. It’s not always just about the hunt. I can sit in the stand for a couple hours and get some expert advise on things and calm my mind. It’s a shame I have to be alone no phone no nothing to talk to an expert but get that’s what works lol.

for those that’s never been in a deer drive think it’s easy to kill these deer or it’s not hunting?! well, for those that’s been in one will know it’s really hard to do a successful deer drive if it’s not done correctly…you as the hunter has to know and out think the deer to intercept them… out ride all the deer will just out smart the hunters

Personally I think drives are more thought out than stand hunting. Unless you have the copious amount of property to play the waiting game ( years?) then a drive is a great thing to get them moving. Pushed deer late season in Michigan all the way up into my late 20’s. Now the large parcels are either leased or split up with different owners, either way hunting has changed here. Heck we would pheasant hunt all the properties during bow season and never had a complaint. Good times like these are on their way out, lot of awesome memories with friends and neighbors. Now people up here don’t know their neighbors, kinda explains the state we live in

I don’t disagree with how you hunt but how can you say drives take more skill then still hunting? You’re literally just scaring them out of the bushes and shooting them with a SHOTGUN😂 No worries about scent, Movement, and noise which is what makes “still”hunting so challenging.

Stand hunting is ambushing, not hunting or that skillful, and I hunt that way sometimes ! 😆 But to pretend it takes skill is a little much, it takes patience.
