Do you want to be able to control your Tesla with your voice for free? The Tesla app doesn’t let you do that. I’ll show you how. I’ll also show you how to get your car ready to go in the morning by first looking at the outside temperature.

Great information and thank you. In the last automation on climate controls, I’d add one more element and that would be if car not unlocked or other function check within a fixed period of time, it would turn off climate controls. This would be to correct a situation when the weekday is a holiday, you are sick and not using car or some other unexpected event during your normal weekday.

I'm in the process of completely rethinking and rewriting them to get around the things that are broken. I hope to have a fix out soon as a separate video.

I’m getting an error on iOS 15 on my iPhone 13 pro: “There was a problem running the shortcut “wake car up”. The “get tesla login” shortcut works, but since “wake car up” doesn’t i can’t get all the other to work

Great video! Got an MY 2 wks ago and loaded the shortcuts yesterday. These are awesome! I also did the Aero wheels based on your video and am super happy with how they turned out. Is it possible to do a shortcut for start car? That Would allow me to drive in a pinch if I did not have my phone or key card.

This is great, thanks! Can you expand on what information the Wake Up Car command should return? I’m getting the same information as in the Get Tesla Login command (token and ID). Is that right? The other commands are returning “not found” errors.

Amazing content and thank you for taking the time to share all of the effort you have put into this. I do have a question however, regarding if this approach has remained working with what you mention, as Tesla changing things that rendered the previously working versions, to not work. Also, I see that you have a similar topic published at a later date (October '21), but that this version was also updated to address fixes. Can you comment on which shortcuts are the ones that are working with the current state of iOS 16.1? Again, many thanks for your efforts!

Thanks so much for this video. Awesome stuff. I added all the shortcuts to my phone. I can use Siri from phone to control. Using Siri through Apple Watch doesn’t work to like open trunk. Thoughts?

That's a known problem. This happens for 2 reasons. First, the Auth for Tesla app does not run on the watch. Also, the watch doesn't support iCloud Drive files - which is also needed right now to make this work. Hopefully shortcuts will get fixed and we can get back to other ways to make it work on the watch. Thanks for watching!

This is a great video!! I always thought this was possible, but I have absolutely no idea how to do it. Thank You!! I have 2 Tesla cars. How can I edit the shortcuts so that I can control both of my cars using seperate shortcuts?

Hello. Basically you need to duplicate the shortcuts you want to use for both cars - starting with the Get Tesla Login. Hold your finger down on it and duplicate it and rename it. From there, you will need to dive into it by tapping the ... on the shortcut. This is where you need to scroll down and change the First Item setting to Last Item and this will get your second car. There is a comment above the line kinda explaining it. From there you will need to duplicate the Wake Up Car to call the Get Tesla Login Car 2 and then duplicate any shortcuts you want. There is probably an easier way to do this but this is the best I've got right now. Thanks for watching!

Changed First Item to Last Item in "Get Tesla Login 2"; then changed Run Get Tesla Login 2 in "Wake Car Up 2"; then changed all the other shortcuts to run "Wake Car Up 2". However, I was unable to get the second car working. For each of the individual shortcuts, I changed the 1st command to "Run Wake Car 2", but I get the following error:{"error":"not found","response":null,"error_description".""}. Great video! I know this is sort of off topic but for those of us that don’t have the homelink feature on our Tesla but have a smart garage (MyQ) do you have any iOS shortcuts that can control the garage to open/close.

Yes. I am thinking about creating another video on this. I don't have a MyQ smart garage but I do have a z-wave controlled garage that I can trigger from a shortcut. The problem with doing a software HomeLink is that you can have a shortcut trigger automatically with a geofence. You still need to tap the notification to proceed - which kinda defeats the purpose. Got it working. You can download the shortcuts in the description at the bottom. The vent windows does not require location. The close windows does require location. I included a shortcut called Get Tesla Location that gets the GPS location for your car before calling the close windows. Hope this works for you.

Does this work with iphone 13 Pro ? I followed the instruction and it did not work. There is no allow untrusted shortcut. There is private Sharing. I checked that and re-ran the first steps and replaced the shortcuts. It still did not work. It said command sent after checking for allow access for what seemed to be for each shortcut. Do I need to start all over? (remove and reinstall). Thanks.

I've seen this problem happen for Shortcuts and I don't have a good answer. I've had the problem myself. Not sure it's a quick fix. iOS 15 comes out today. Perhaps that will help. Thanks for watching!

Hey @Iowa Tesla Guy, just wanted to say thank you for doing this. I got it to work but there is an edit that needs to be made for the shortcut "Get Tesla Login". The "Wake Car Up" calls "Get Tesla Login 2021" and in the downloaded "Get Tesla Login" it doesn't have the word 2021 in it so the Wake Car Up doesn't work until you change the Get Tesla Login to "Get Tesla Login 2021". Again thanks for doing this was waiting for this video for months!

Settings on my iPhone under shortcuts won’t let me activate the allow unsecured apps. It is grayed out. This is apparently the key to getting the shortcuts as I can’t get any of the listed shortcuts Re security

Did some Google searching. You need to manually run a shortcut - any shortcut. Once you do that, the switch in settings will become active. Good luck and thanks for watching!

Issue: Flash Lights and other shortcuts do not successfully function on first attempt to wake up car, but work on subsequent attempts when car is already awake. What do you suggest needs to be adjusted? Thank you!

You can do a few things. The easiest way would be to edit the Wake Up Car shortcut and add a longer delay to allow your car to wake. You can also edit the shortcut you use the most when the car is in a deep sleep and call the Wake Up Car shortcut a few times in a row. This typically is enough time to fully wake the car from a deep sleep. It's a tradeoff depending on how fast you need it to work. Thanks for watching!

Check and make sure the Get Tesla Login works first by running that separately. That is required for the wake up car to work. Also, try the wake up car a couple of times. If your car is in deep sleep, it might not wake up fast enough.

Sorry. The Shortcuts app seems to have issues in iOS 15. I can get them to work on my phone but it won't work on my iPad. Doesn't make any sense. Are you using a phone?

There is a shortcut called Wake Up Tesla that wakes up the car. This is called for every shortcut.

It will work but it will require you to make some duplicate shortcuts for each car. Where you need to look is in the Get Tesla Login. Duplicate this for the second car and then edit it. Scroll down to the line that says "Get First Item from" and change it to Last Item and this will get your second car. You will then need to duplicate the Wake Up Car and point it to your new login for the second car. Then you will need to duplicate any other Shortcuts and point it to the new Wake Up Car. Hope this helps.

Question. Do I have to press the “run” button on each shortcuts for it to work? On the video, u only run get tesla log in, wake car up, honk horn and flashlights

@@jeirock No. You should only need to run the final shortcut. It will run the others. To troubleshoot, you can run each individually to see if you get any errors. Make sure you have the Tesla Auth app installed and you are logged into the app to get a token.

Make sure your Auth for Tesla app is logged in. I have no issues with iOS 16.

"Wake Up for troubleshooting" shows the token, then Car ID, then says either ASLEEP or ONLINE, but when I execute "flash lights" or anything else, I get notification "Command sent" and that error (visible only when the shortcut is open). Lights are not flashing either.

How do you know that the login credentials are not received by the app?

I don't know that I can convince you over a comment but as a developer myself, I can tell you that the app pulls up an official Tesla 3rd party login. Only an anonymous token is exchanged with the app. You get the same login if you try to log into your account from Tesla's website on your phone.

I rebooted the phone and download and refresh the Get Tesla login short cut. Now the comment would sent but it wouldn't do anything and no error messages.

Go into the Shortcut by tapping the ... on the shortcut and run it from within the shortcut. Scroll down to the bottom and if you see a bunch of text, it is working. Otherwise, you will get an error.

iOS 15 broke many aspects of the Shortcuts app. I was hoping that Apple would have addressed it. That doesn't look to be the case. I'm in the process of completely rethinking and rewriting them to get around the things that are broken. I hope to have a fix out soon as a separate video.

I believe my upgrade to IOS 15 broke the shortcuts 😓. It was working fantastic but it’s not working anymore. Has anyone upgraded to IOS15 on the phone and still getting it to work properly?

In iOS 15, you need to go into the shortcuts app and run each shortcut manually. You will likely be asked if it ok to run. Select always.

:-( I'm not a fan of Apple phones. Hopefully a solution will exist for Android phones at some point.
