Well, there are speakers on one side of the iphone 13 too, so I don't think it'd be a deciding factor for me. If I'm fine with how my phone's speakers operate, I should be fine with how the iPad 9's speakers operate. It might be a deciding factor for others, though. I have an iPad 9 and I was really curious how the base model iPad stacked up compared to the newer Air 5 in terms of value. I have no need to switch or anything so I'm not going to but I still get curious about newer tech when I hear about it. For those who have the Air 5, I hope they love it, but yeah... I got my iPad 9 on January after squeezing as much use out of my old iPad 2 as I could before it stopped being able to perform the task I needed it for, and I love my iPad 9... So I do recommend the base level iPad if you need a capable tablet without needing to spend a whole lot, but yeah, I suppose if you are an artist it may be better to go with the Air due to a laminated display and use of the better version of the Apple Pencil, but I agree with this video in the sense that these two iPads are so comparable that unless you have the cash to shell for the Air, the iPad 9 is probably the better fit for most people.

@@hyeri-ssi6235 An iPad 9 is great for that on a more portable level. And with that new feature that allows iPads to act as a second screen to Macs, the iPad might even be a way to enhance your Mac experience too. I don’t have a Mac myself so I never used said feature, but lots of tech KZfaqrs who use Mac have said it is a pretty fantastic feature.

I agree. But I am enrolled in 4 classes at this time and use GoodNotes for all my classes. I take notes and highlight my textbook, as our reading assignments are all available online, and have found that the app quits a lot, and the iPad 9 freezes quite a bit. I am considering switching. Plus I love to accessorize.

Great comparison, thanks !! I’ve had an ipad2 for years and trying to decide on a new model. My biggest issue with the new ones is the lack of 3.5 mm audio output Jack. I use my iPad for music and run it thru an analog mixer. QUESTION: is there a way to run audio out of the usb-c instead of using Bluetooth? Thanks !

Yes you can buy an adapter for the USB c but it won't be as good or as easy as the 3.5 mm on the base model.

Not really. The regular iPad has plenty of power. It can even edit video which cheaper tablets usually struggle with.

Hey, thanks for this. I think I’m getting the base model. Yes it’s a date look but I’m not willing to fork out more than $500 on a tablet when I have a powerful gaming laptop nearby that could do the heavy lifting.

I have arthritis and using the fingerprint button at the bottom is just awkward having to bend my wrist. I do not have an air yet but it seems to to be easier and more natural to use to location of the air finger scanner.

yes the cheaper ipad is actually pretty good for the price, 64 gb is just enough in my opinion but i would get as much storage as you can so it lasts longer before you have to start deleting or moving files off of it

Hey buddy!! I had the same question in my mind. I too have a got a m1 macbook air and never used an IPad. And my uses with Ipad will be mainly on note-taking, watching Netflix/YT/Class Lectures. All in all, I need Ipad for lighter purposes. But Ipad Air5 has M1, so was getting attracted towards it. But for our purpose, ig Ipad 9 will suffice. Air is good, but Ipad 9 is best for us at that price. Update when you get your Ipad!! :)

Both should be good but the Apple Pencil 2nd gen will be more convenient on iPad Air

The real comparison doesnt lie with the ipad 9 and the ipad air 5, the real deal nobody talks about is the ipad air 4, and compared to the ipad 9 the ipad air 4 is better in every way with a better A14 chip, usb c and pretty much everything else the ipad air 5 does minus the M1 chip. If you put the ipad 9 next to the ipad air 4, for roughly the same price, the ipad air 4 is a better in every way. Of course all things considered the air 5 is better than the air 4 but the price tag will make people decide what they can do, its just that if you are considering inbetween an ipad air 5 and an ipad 9, double check what the ipad air 4 has to offer, its something nobody talks about. The ipad air 5 can only be compared with the pro models to be more fair, and its simply because of the M1 chip, the ipad 9 uses a bionic chip, not anything comparable with the m1.

What about screen aspect ratio? On ipad 9 is 4:3. Is it possible to watch KZfaq, Netflix or something else in full screen, or there will be huge bezels on top and bottom? I will be thankful for answer.

I think the black bars are the worst on KZfaq. The other apps aren't as bad and allow you to zoom in.

Nice! Apple doesn't advertise how long updates will be but considering the iPad air 2 just got ipadOS 15 I'd say years of updates easily.

For a college student, which is best? Also it would be the first iPad this person has and the dollar is very expensive. Is it worth it spending more on the air in the sense that it would last longer? Would it be able to receive more updates, battery last longer, be faster and convenient for studying for longer periods of time? Thanks. I’m not really an artist but I’d definitely use the pencil a lot to take notes and draw/design occasionally By the way I want this to last about 6+ years. I really want to use for as long as possible, I do not plan on updating unless it’s impossible to use it anymore

@@Zaara20Any M1 iPad is going to last for years. It’s way more power than the iPad needs been a Mac chip and people say the M1 chip is the best thing to have come from apple.

Well done good video. I would have liked to have seen abit more detail with the display with the laminated display and P3 colours on the Air which you can definitely see side by side between the two. Other than that top video well done. Just got the iPad Air 5 (64GB WiFi) for my 5 year old daughter she loves it. Was a reward for looking after her iPad 6 WiFi for 3 years which she kept in pristine condition. Can tell a massive improvement in display quality between the two. Still doesn’t hold a candle to my IPad Pro 12.9” with M1 chip, even if the chips are the same 😊

Well if i can get more storage on the cheaper ipad and save money, it does pretty much everything i would need. Everyone will be different though. And some people like the newer apple pencil 2nd gen over 1st gen.

Perfect for taking notes and watching movies/tv shows, if you want to use it for saving files or using Microsoft apps maybe consider going up one storage size. Although you can store things on one drive but has a maximum of 50gbs. You have to pay a monthly fee to increase it.

Yes, you can access Microsoft OneNote in iPad 9th gen and take notes effectively. And of course, you don't get an SSD card slot in an Apple device!

My old Samsung phone s9+ has better multitasking than ipados... Which is crazy. You can't divide horizontally, you can't open pop up windows, etc. I watch KZfaq and play tennis game... Apple needs to wake the f up

The 2nd gen pencil is way easier to charge but works very similar to 1st gen in my usage. Non laminated screen is not a factor for me so I rarely ever mention it.

In my case, I'm going to use it to watch video classes, split the screen into 2 to take notes using the keyboard, browse the internet in general and use Canva and Chatgpt for work. Do you think the iPad Air 5 is worth the high investment? I believe that the iPad 9 will do the job but I'm afraid of crashes and something like that... It will work great with iPad 9 but air last longer. I still think buy 9th gen or the pro and skip the air because with $200 more you can get the iPad pro instead of the air. I don't think the new iPad Air feels as well built as previous iPads, feels like the metal is thinner so it crackles and flexes.

I've seen others say that online but having them right next to each other they feel pretty much the same to me. Of course i don't try to bend my ipads to break them either LOL

I “felt” it with my hands and it is obvious that iPad Air 5 made “noise” you can apply a little force. Not with iPad 9 or iPad Pro.

yeah i agree too because i see it on some other youtuber have test this quality if it actually creaks when you push a little bit and i know but only few people will understand this not all because they dont care too much on up coming issues and updates

Not really for a tablet. For a phone, yes. I have over 600 photos, 60 videos and 25 apps (not including apps pre-installed), plus my iMessages from my phone and I still have nearly 30gb left.

If IPad 9 have a laminated screen Retina with M1 it was magic, Air 5 is not strong ( like iPhone 6 body ) ; IPad 9 is really strong.A13 is small , but for work is enough. If they give 4 Gb Memory in the next generation :) . IPadOS work simple on all IPads include IPad Pro , IPad mini . Only crashing sadness is memory and price , 128 is only on IPad Pro with M1 or IPad 8 , others have 64 and 256 Gb .IPad Air 4 is maybe more interesting , cause like IPad 9 is strong (like iPhone 7 body ) and A14 is cutting version of M1 with more modification iPad Pro with M1 is better to buy than Air 5 with M1 , cause body of IPad Pro is strong ( not like body in IPad Pro 2018) :)
