iPad Air battery inflated screen popped.
When the iPad battery is at 50% or 70% and the iPad shuts down or it drops to very low battery percentage.
That is the time you should stop using your iPad and get the battery replaced.
You can take it to a shop to replace the battery or take it to Apple if you still have warranty for it.

If battery is inflated (puffy lithium battery) might need to replace the battery in the iPad Air A1475, A1474 or A1476.
This can happen for other iPad models too, for those the way you open it will be different and the battery model will be different too.

Using a third party battery, might not be 100% as good as the original ones but works pretty well.

IFixIt battery replacement kits come with heaters to make it easier to remove the adhesive.

A bit risky though replacing it with a battery bought online. I would not trust a third party battery. Not sure you could buy a genuine one though.

I don't think you can buy genuine new. These are ok if you don't push them when they get weak. And usually need replacing every 1-3 years depending on quality.

I bought an ipad mini, in 2018. I'm only just now, noticing the screen bulging out, exactly as yours did. Just checked, and of course, the warranty expired, in November, 2020. Not even a full year, ago, as of this writing. Lovely! I'll have to have an IOS store service it, as I'm legally blind. Thanks for the video, at least, now, I'm pretty sure it's the rutty battery.

Call a local small shop, might be cheaper to replace it there.

@@IONHowTo Actually, I did that, with my mobile, and it didn't work, when I got it back, because they used parts which weren't factory paired parts, for the iphone. So, not taking that risk again. Was without a phone for a month, and it was a reputable local I'd dealt with for decades. Apple started making stuff non-user serviceable, now.

@@ThomasGrillo yeah apple is the only one with original new parts so far. At least in EU, I expect them to be forced by regulation soon to supply third party shops with genuine parts without crazy conditions. Right to repair

@@IONHowTo Indeed. I think it's about time for our legislators to break up apple, and stop this monopoly, it's become. Depriving end-users access to the ability to repair their own devices has got to be declared illegal, at some point.

I need help, please reply...same happened with me, screen popped out a lil bit and I super glued just a tiny bit of the screen to the edge just to realize that later, the situation would get worse...now the remaining part of the same edge is popping out and this time, I did nothing and just submitted it to apple, my device is still under 1yr warranty, and they said they would replace my device if everything was found to be perfect...now I am tensed that glueing a small portion of the screen to body would be considered device tampering and they would cancel my warranty😭😭....it has yet to go for inspection, pls clear this doubt for me guys...I am worried that they would blame on me😭😭, but my battery was initially swelling too...

Battery needs to be replaced. You can take it to a small shop to replace it for you

This just happened to mine when i went to het it out it looked like that so ii thew it away, i don't like iPad or iphone anyways they are junk, others you can take out the battery in 2 seconds and the don't make you upgrade all the time
