while watching this video I remembered a time where you used a tristar tester board to determine the voltages and I was wondering if you knew that the Tristar tester has a PRO mode where it tells you the voltage from the charge port and the voltage of every rail in the iPad. just hold the left and right button down BEFORE you turn on the tester. While turning the switch on continue to hold the left and right buttons down and keep holding until it turns on and starts the test. it will then do the same test but will show you voltages on all the rails.

I too LOVE low melt solder. I was introduced to it by ZEPHYRTRONICS many moons ago, and it truly improved my game. I've had peers debate me about it's usefulness, arguing that it's a beginner's tool, expensive, messy and time consuming... meanwhile they are ripping pads and pulling sleeves out of PTH's and i am not. If you've never tried it, don't let the naysayers stop you. NF is correct when he say, "It's magical."

Thanks for video. I have question. my daughter has iPad 2nd gen 12.9 A1670 model and only specific cable could charge it but others - includes original charge cable - could not charge the pad not at all. How can it be? Some says by replacing the charging doc flex cable could resolve that problem. It this right? Please give me some hints!! Have a nice day.

I bought a new iPad from micro center after 6 months I notice when the battery gets to like 80 percent it will stop charging I clean the port change charger and cables and still does the same thing.the only way I get it to charge 100 percent is I have to press the power button off and then turn the tablet back on and then it charges to 100 percent. But I have to do this almost all the time what you think is wrong? And is still under factory warranty.

Serious question. If the wick you use is so good why do you have to add flux to it? I use Gootwick and never need to add flux to be able to wick pads
@TheCod3r
@TheCod3r 4 жыл бұрын
@@Neodymium5312 lol I know what flux does, but any decent wick will already be coated in flux
@TheCod3r
@TheCod3r 4 жыл бұрын
@@Neodymium5312 no I agree I'm not mocking your response, it was a genuine question. I'm just saying the wick I use costs £3/$4 per reel (1.5m) and does the job perfectly without needing to add more flux, but I've seen in several NorthridgeFix videos where he adds fresh flux to wick pads and just wanted to know why, since I don't know of any time I've had to do that myself in the work I do
@NorthridgeFix
@NorthridgeFix 4 жыл бұрын
Flux helps with the flow of solder specially when dealing with solder inside holes. Wick by itself does not release flux and it's neither efficient nor practical to use it with out flux unless you are just wicking pads from the surface.
@TheCod3r
@TheCod3r 4 жыл бұрын

I slowly took apart my ipad Pro 4th generation and replaced the charging port and now it will not charge at all. I am so frustrated. I work on this daily because I am an illustrator and now I am left with a brick of an ipad pro. I will say that before I replaced the port the old port was all messed up but would charge if at an angle or jiggled around, now nothing charges it. If anyone has any advice I would love to hear it and would appreciate any help! It's only 2 years old so this is extremely frustrating.

If you’ve got time to answer a question I would appreciate it. I’m trying to remove the solder from a PS4 HDMI port. I have no problem doing this repair on an Xbox, but always trouble with a PlayStation. I’m adding low melt solder to the holes and allowing it to mix, but it doesn’t help with the removal. Do you have problems with the PlayStation HDMI port? Thanks
@leopisig508
@leopisig508 4 жыл бұрын
easiest time of my life removing hdmi port bro. peace hehe
@NorthridgeFix
@NorthridgeFix 4 жыл бұрын
You took the first step by applying low melt solder. Make sure you are using a big solder tip to achieve more heat transfer for solder to mix well. Than all you need is a good wick that absorbs and Flux to help with the solder flow when it liquefies. Removing solder from PS4 holes is tricky, but having the right tools for the job and a lot of practice will make perfect. In the future, all unrelated questions should be posted here northridgefix.com/askus/

I don’t use low-melt solder, I add plenty of flux to the pins and then heat the board from the bottom on the back side of the port until i can lift it out with tweezers. It might be up to 2 mins depending on your hot air station and selected temp+airflow. Can mix this method with low-melt for faster results.

It's having the same problem, when I press power on, it shows Samsung logo & then restarts over & over showing only the logo. Took it to a shop, he said it's ok change the battery. He checked it on laptop what he called ' testing on machine', & ya I see it was working. Then went to buy the battery but it still won't turn on. The repair man has no clue,🤪🤪👻
