Average Tech Guy how would I transfer photos from my cams mem card usb readers I have the older compact flash cards with usb card readers to usb ? Wouldn’t the Apple dongle need 2 USB ports? One for the card reader and one for a SSD drive ?

@Yuzi Drexel Connect a self powered USB hub into the the apple adapter first, then you can connect as many USB devices as you’d like.

Well, "Average", nice vid, well-done, useful info however, there's a more convenient expandable, removable storage available. You may already be aware since creating this great demo, however, for others SanDisk offers a built-in USB Type-A connection, iXpand Flash Drive (128GB, 256GB) for example. There are others but we find the SanDisk more reliable from our perspective and experience with SanDisk (we purchase most of our storage, etc from B&H, attempting to avoid Amazon at all costs for these types of purchases). Compared to other flashd rives though, these USB Type-A drives are a "bit" more pricey than the standard USB 2 or 3 flash drives. CORRECTION: An acquaintance brought my attention to an error in the above comments. I inadvertently referred to "USB Type-A" (USB on my brain this morning!) when it should've read "Lightning" connection with reference to the iPhones external storage.

So I can transfer all of my photos to the SSD yes? What if I don’t have iCloud connected but have the app called documents? Would it still work?

So I bought this today and when I plug in the San Disk SSD and now it says: ( “The attached accessory uses too much power.” ) What does that mean?? I’m using my iPhone 11 Pro Max, using my lighting to Usb-A Apple connector with the Usb-C SSD Connector.

Ahhhhh NUTZ I returned my iPhone 11 Pro Max 64Gig and bought the iPhone 11 Pro Max 256Gig now I found your video, Argggggggggg NUTZ

What worked for me is to connect it and wait for about 2 minutes and it appears in the Files (iphone). I’m using a third party adapter ith audio input. Let me know if it works for you.

@@obezijana Can you please share which one you use? I bought a 3rd party cheaper one, but not work. I am returning it to get an apple one which is quite expensive. I plan to use this during a trip and feel better to have 2 in case I lose it in a rush. Maybe can try another brand if you can share. Thanks.

Okay, I believe I followed the steps like you showed them and my iPhone updated, but now I'm not seeing the SSD drive listed in the locations of the files. Any suggestions or thoughts on why this is happening?

I’m getting the same thing - I have just looked at the SanDisk responses on Amazon, apparently the the 1tb & 2tb are not rated for mobile devices! Rather frustrating really as I have just purchased the 1tb extreme pro based on several reviews demonstrating compatibility!!

As of today I just got the USB3 A1619 Camera adapter. No joy same power alert. But what is troubling, I try to charge my ipad or my iphone from the adapters USB 3 using either a usb charger on mains OR an Anker PD power bank, and THERE IS NO JUICE COMING out of this USB ADAPTER port. Tried it both with or without the lightning being plugged into a device. Saying I can plug this into my ipad and it charges. But trying to charge my iphone from the SO CALLED powered usb port, NO JOY. Did I get a defective A1619?
