Even with that un-polished software tuning of Pixel 6 with it's new sensors and Soc, it still kept up with 13 pro. It was a surprise to see Pixel pulling up more dynamic range than Iphone in main sensor video. Makes me wonder what will happen when finally the Pixel's tuning sets in.

I'm just an "average consumer" but everywhere I go online to watch these comparisons reviewers are always saying things like "hands down the iPhone wins in video." Meanwhile when I look at these comparisons I don't agree at all. To me and to my untrained non KZfaqr eyes the Pixel looked just as good if not better in some of the comparisons presented in this video. Sam said the gap is narrowing but I personally would give the pixel a lot more credit than that. I am not trying to say the video on the iphone is bad I'm just saying in most of the videos presented in the video I really think Google has more or less closed the gap for " average consumers." It just needs a little more polish and finish to round it out. Thought the videos looked great from the pixel.

I got the Pixel 6 Pro a couple of weeks back, partly because I asked myself if I could use that as a replacement for also lugging around a camera, as my faithful Canon was damaged after falling off a cliff. While I'm still weeping at the loss of any meaningful zoom - no more moon shots or extreme sunrise or sunset pics (damnit!!!) - the trade-off seems worth it, as the Pixel 6 Pro has been way better than even my Canon was at several types of photos. It's noticeably excelled with various types of shots that were more problematic on my beloved Canon, and while I'm not a fan of its oversaturation - most evident in overly blue skies and crazy green grass etc - it's been excellent with a ton of shots, and having the images just instantly to hand, ready to edit etc, has been great for my work flow. So, thanks, Google - the pros outweigh the cons here, and it's certainly more than capable for most non-professional photography, within the constraints of being a phone camera.

But I still don't understand why does no one cares about the manual controls for photography that we get on Pixel phones or in general the Android phones which are not available on the iPhone. If learnt properly then the manually controlled shots can bring out some really amazing shots. I believe this deserves more importance than currently given.

There was literally no example in the video section where the iPhone did (in my opinion) better. What the hell are you on about? It also feels as if you literally copy-pasted most of the script from your Pixel 5 review (about which I hold the exact same opinion). And I mean, no hate to you. I can see the video quality of 6Pro has been improve so much this year. The same goes to potrait shots also. Both are pretty incredible but i prefer the vibrant colours and a slightly better HDR on the 6Pro. Hi Sam, thank you for the review but here's a couple of things I think you overlooked... firstly dollar for dollar the value that the Pixel 6 brings is outstanding compared to the much more expensively priced iPhone. I just want to put my perspective on any camera on a cell phone comparison, it's very subjective. 90% of consumers not professional photographers and they want to point the camera on a cell phone and get the good image or video. I'm not 100% sure what Google trying to do but it definitely trying to play for larger consumer base that just want to take a phone out point shoot and have a great result without switching to different cameras different angles different settings different anything. I do understand it might not be great for professionals and they can find the blemishes but for wider spectrum of consumers this is what they want they don't want to think about it they don't want to do anything about it to just want to take camera out and they have a result. Good or bad I still think video looks in some conditions better on the iPhone which I always said had a better video recording abilities but I have to give it to Google they caught up. And another point no matter how good pixel camera is or going to be people who have heavily invested in iPhone never going to switch, and I do not blame them if you are heavily invested in a certain ecosystem you should probably stay with it unless you think you paying too much for what you getting. Pixel 6 is a probably best bargain for a dollar or any other currency right now in the cell phone industry. Justifying $1,500 price tag on fully loaded iPhone it just ridiculous.

Afterall it really boils down to personal preferences uk when the iphone xs came out back in 2018 every one was complaining their guts out because of that aggressive newly announced smart HDR that tended to make images looking disgustingly flat and I was agree atm but now i think everyone’s been liking the more contrasty look … believe me it looks like that only when you’re comparing it next to a pixel (not saying pixels bad or something) just tryna to say aggressive HDR is a great feature to have but in my pov the more contrasty look of iphone kinda also gives it more of a professional look just like how pixel was in 3rd or 4th generation of it ( cooler contrasty look all the time)

I don't like any forms of portrait photography. I would prefer the background to be of dull color while the subject stands out but not a blurry background. It was a fair review between these two. I love the color grading on human subjects than the iPhone but I love the color grading on the iPhone for vegetations. In terms of managing the background highlights of photos the Google does that well while it blows out on the iPhone

I tried out cinematic mode in a store yesterday and it was so bad I wouldn't use it for anything important shot. It interpreted the edge of the subject as the background, and the background blur is too uniform and fake. What i find unforgivable is that it is software feature instead of hardware so there's no reason it's not available for iphone 12s and earlier

Pixel is sharper but iPhone is smoother in video. In selfie camera both are good but the Pixel may suffer in some conditions due to the highlights being too bright. Both cameras are good

I'm sorry but are we even watching the same videos? In nearly all cases the Iphones videos are blowing out the highlights in a major way or showing a fuzzy mask over the top of the videos.

dude, you need to disable the camera fixation in the settings, then the iPhone will let you switch them while recording a video. a strange solution, but it works

Because it's better, and for some reason most reviewers refuse to just flat out say the pixel is a boring, run of the mill android phone.

@@ILoveGrilledCheese now u are just a apple fanboy... You are literally trying to defend every comment with your apple fanboy shit. Pixel is one of the most innovative phones, own chip, hugely upgraded cameras. In fact I think that the iphone is the most boring, same design, the most standard iteration upgrade ever. Pixel New screen Drastically new design Drastically new chip Drastically new cameras Iphone New screen Basically same cameras Slightly upgraded chip How's the pixel the boring one?

@Sahil Singhal I never said that it was better, I said that it was drastically different as the original guy said was the same old android. Like it's not the same at all, this phone was one of the biggest overhauls on modern (2-3 years) phone history. Ps. Tensor is ok in actual performance but that's not the selling point, tensor is incredibly smart in it's ai.

Yo when the sound source change, maybe you can put sound to indicate it because I found myself a little bit confused when concentrate to the sound and constantly reading iphone/pixel text changing.

Hi Sam from the UK 🙂 I have the Pixel 6 Pro, upgraded from 12 Pro Max. I've noticed the following. 1. On mine the always on display, shows as for example, 03:45 even when it's PM, yet the clock in settings show it's on PM, so I don't like that. 2. I put a so-called compatible with fingerprint glass screen protector on, and even with the extra sensitivity setting on, it still fails to unlock 9 times out of 10. 3. I then put a slide on and the fingerprint sensor works fine now, I re-set the fingerprint after I fitted the slide. 4. The indoor low light photos are not brilliant, I hope there will be an update to fix this. Other than that, I'm very pleased. 🙂👍🏻🇬🇧

Is it just me or does he seem biased for iphone? I'm watching the videos and clearly the pixel has better color and images but he says iphones is better? Like most of the iPhone videos look very "greyscale" compared to the pixel

It's absolutely not just you. I'm reading all the comments and almost everyone feels the same, including me. I have eyes, I can literally see that the Pixel is better in almost every picture and video. Maybe part of it is that we are seeing the pictures and videos as "nonprofessionals," and maybe professional photographers can see that the iPhone is better in some ways?? (I don't know if he is a professional photographer.) But most people aren't professional photographers and what matters most is what average consumers prefer, which is the Pixel. The pictures and video are so much more vibrant.

I'm sorry but the Iphones colours are straight awful nowadays, the over done contrast just looks terrible. Like Chinese phones from 2/3 years ago. Even in lowlight the contrast is way over done. Also googles tones, saturation, hues and colour science generally are just miles better especially for skin tones and landscapes and also their HDR is just better too. Iphone images seem to suffer from a slight green tinge.
