The iPhone 15 Pro Max has some great cameras, but is it really worth the price? TOday we're doing an iPhone 15 Pro Max versus Pixel 7a which is a $500 smartphone, costing a full $700 less than the iPhone. Does all that extra money you spend on the iPhone 15 Pro Max really translate into substantially better photos when compared to the Pixel 7a?

This comparation shows that you don't need the latest and greatest phone for good photos and videos. The price difference is huge and it's true that with the iPhone you get a better screen,a 5x zoom, better battery life and a fashion device. Is it worth the 2.5x the price? Not for me. I think that pixel 7a is a great phone for the price.

Go ahead and buy the 7A and that will last you a maximum of 2 years starting from now. It will get OS support only upto Android 16, while the 15 Pro Max will have at least 6 OS updates and that makes a huge difference to me.

We all know that cameras in the daytime are good enough on $500 phones so it is a pointless comparison for many if cameras were the only reason to buy a phone. But obviously, there are far more important reasons from ecosystem to OS, to performance, to OS support, to quality, to zoom, to better speakers, to MagSafe, to battery life, to screen size, to max brightness, to Face ID, etc. A camera is a small part especially these days when cheaper phones can easily be fine for many.

@@andyH_England Quality difference even in daytime is drastic here, 24mp is just so much more detailed yet iphone captures it in the same size file amd manages to keep the depth info in that same 3mb

Considering the price difference, the pixel 7a does an excellent job. In photos there is not much difference... I even like some more than those on the iPhone. Excellent video!!!

Crazy how when you compare the iPhone to the Samsung, the Samsung is super saturated, but when you compare the iPhone to a Google pixel or another iPhone, it's pretty we easy to see how much more saturation the iPhone has

Brilliant work Nick. Have bookmarked to watch on 4k in TV. I absolutely love your camera comparisons as you have an aesthetic sense of taking very good pictures and videos and make it clear to the viewer. Still prefer pixels colour rendering, much more true to life and accurate. Am amazed by iphones portrait mode though, the masking is the best ive ever seen, seems to preserve even fine hairs.

mine does if I'm taking a lot of photos or doing video for about 45 secs+ it starts getting toasty. I've already had my original 15Pro replaced under warranty, so idk what the deal is.

I'm now in a pixel 7a but just got the iPhone 15 ordered. Camera wise I don't think there's much between them but the os software wins it for me. Still one or two many bugs still going on with Android but I do love the flexibility over os. I've been switching back and forth for the last few years. Had the pixel 7 pro then turned to iPhone 13 pro. Swings and roundabouts. 😊

Prefer the warmer colors of the iPhone in this comparison, but regardless, my next phone will be Pixel 8P as most of my pics are outdoors in the FL sun where I prefer to turn down the colors.

you can set photographic styles in the iPhone camera app, turn the warmth down, decrease saturation if you want.

Pixel in photo, it's really a heavyweight. If Google manages to correct the grain that its smartphones have in video, and also the colorimetry too warm of its videos, it will really be complicated for the competition.

7a saves photos at 12mp. iPhone you can save 24mp and upwards to 48mp

Still rocking my Pixel 6. Not enough camera improvements in all these new flagships to warrant an upgrade. Perhaps the Pixel 8 will change that. If not then I'll just rock the 6 for another year or so.

*Pixel is more natural.* Iphone has boosted colours, contrast, wax-skin in some shots & shadow-crush in low-light. Pixel has improved in videos drastically. Btw, the food looks nice 4:47

Nexus & Pixel user here, 15 PM is a much much better camera but the 7a is like what a 3rd of the price of the 15 PM? I'm waiting on the 8 to see how it will stack up against the 15 Pro not the Pro Max and then will decide on which will be my daily driver for the next 3-4 years.

Your videos are awesome 💙💙💙 Watching this on pixel 7a. here's my short take on pixel 7a Photos : A It's got great details, sharpness and contrast, excellent HDR, colors, accurate skin tones. It's great for selfies. Video : B It's nothing sort of excellant in videos, there's plenty of noise especially indoor or low light with details subpar, HDR is not impressive. Battery : B (meh) Software features and experience : A One of the best

Both phones did great. I am impressed with the iPhone 15 pro max details and how close you can zoom in and not lose any detail. Some photos you couldn't tell that much difference. iPhone wins in video quality. I hope this is something the Pixel 8 will improve on

In terms of the main camera they are pretty close. Once you start going outside of that it leans pretty much towards to iPhone 15 Pro Max which has better hardware and more flexibility (For £1400 it should be). That isn't a criticism for the Pixel 7a - its main camera (and google software tuning) punches above it weight. I bought a Pixel 7a for that reason and I'm happy with it.

Bang for buck, the 7a held its own more than I expected. Kudos for that. That said, if video is a priority - get the iPhone. If not - and if you're not trapped in the "walled garden" - save your money and go with the Pixel.

I hate that you put a 5x telephoto on the iPhone 15 Pro Max image but not on the Pixel 7a. Even though 7a does not have a telephoto, you can just put a label on the bottom with a 5x digital zoom so that we can still compare. It's still a comparison video! 😏

Our comparisons ALWAYS only use the pre-set camera options in the viewfinder. This is because that is what the OEM optimizes for.

After x 2 digital zoom photos start to lose quality and become a muddy mess on a pixel without telephoto zoom. X2 zoom is the maximum recommended digital zoom on a pixel . Even at x2 there is a noticeable loss of quality

The snow pixel 7 pro looks yellowish on iPhone and perfect white on pixel.. The white rice looks white on pixel and yellow on iPhone..!! iPhones colour science is just messed up.. And I have the iPhone 14 pro which I got after selling my pixel 7 pro and I might just get it back..! Coz I don’t see value in this device..

I've had iPhones since you could only get them on AT&T. They've just gotten WAY too expensive! So when my wife's iPhone XR battery would no longer take a charge, I gave hery iPhone 11 and got a pixel 7a. I'm very happy with my 7a. It was even easier to set up than an iPhone and I've found that it gets android up get 7:01 s sooner than Samsung Galaxy and without all the bloatwear that Samsung forces on you! Yeah, I like it much better| than Galaxy.! Why pay Apple's premium when pixel 7a does such a good job?

Awesome picture quality from the Pixel, although I prefer the warmer tones of the Iphone. On video quality there is no contest though. Too bad that the Pixel has all those other issues with signal, cooling etc, great camera - poor phone. Nice comparison though! Cheers!

It's funny how iPhone users have always been "so proud" that the iPhones' colours are more natural and criticised Samsung phones for their saturation. But in the last generations, Apple has started doing the same on the iPhones. 🤷‍♂😂
