Let me know if those links stop working!!
There are a few ways to remove your iPhone 6s battery. The easiest way is using the very convenient pull tabs down at the bottom of the battery.
Just lift them up from the edge of the battery, and pull directly out toward the bottom of the device. If the pull tabs end up breaking, than you'll have to use the 'pry of shame' method, and pull the battery out the old fashion way.
Let me know if you have any questions!
Attempt all repairs at your OWN risk.

Critical point missed in these steps: when placing the new battery in the phone, BEFORE you apply the adhesive strips, test the placement of the battery such that the ribbon connector will align perfectly with the jack on the phone. There is VERY little room for error here. If you stick the battery down and it is a little too low or too high, the connector will not align and you will need remove the battery (hopefully without damaging it) and position it correctly. So do a "dry" fit and see how much room there is between the battery and the top and bottom of the bay it sits in. Then after getting the adhesive strips in place, make sure you put the battery in exactly the same position.

When installing the new battery always connect the battery as the last step. First connect the LCD and than the battery. Otherwise it is possible that you make a short on the board and destroy it.

I disagree because when you’re doing a repair you aren’t going to call for power from the battery when you are in the middle of your repair, right? No call for power then no fried board unless u somehow pressed the power button long enough or at all then ur right

Believe all you want but the board will power up when you connect the battery and you will destroy your phone if you do not perfectly line up the screen connectors when reattaching them. Please do not tell people that you think doing something is fine when there are multiple people with first hand experience saying that doing that thing is an extremely bad idea.

Had your video running and an Amazon purchased battery & phone in front of me and had no problems. Well, almost. Two lessons from my end. First, when I pried off the screen with the plastic guitar-looking pick that came with the battery, I discovered that it's possible to bend the tabs that receive the screws on the bottom of the phone as you pry away on the lower part of the screen. When I reassembled the phone and started to insert the two bottom screws, I discovered that one of them would not 'bite' as I tried to screw it in. When I re-opened the case, it was obvious that the tab that would have received the screw was bent just out of reach of the screw. It was easy to gently bend back in place, so an easy fix. Second, when pulling the adhesive out from underneath the battery, it's very easy to break, which you mention in the video; and, of course, the battery is a bear to get out if the adhesive is still attached. One attempt to wrap the adhesive around a pair of plastic tweezers as I pulled it out didn't work very well and the adhesive tore. So, I ended up just using my fingers to reel the adhesive in millimeter by millimeter b.c fingers have a fairly large surface area and it was easier for me to keep the adhesive from tearing and/or separating. Great video. Thanks for saving me a 1000$ on a new phone; this will allow us to keep using our beater 6Ss for a while longer.

NOTE: PLEASE READ! DO NOT CONNECT THE BATTERY CABLE FIRST THEN THE LCD CABLE! THIS WILL SHORT CIRCUIT IT! You don't need to disconnect the LCD cable when going through these steps however, just keep the screen 90 degrees open instead of disconnecting the cable and taking the screen off, i used a rest to stop the screen from falling so i didn't have to hold the screen while i do the rest of steps. ps. i was so scared when replacing the battery, even if i followed the steps correctly i still thought i fucked up somehow

Be very careful when removing the battery. I tried pulling the sticky plastic out of the back the battery as described but both of the glue sides snapped. I then had to force/bend the battery up out and in doing so caused it to go off like an indoor firework. The house was filled with smoke and the whole battery glowed cherry red hot. First use a hairdryer to soften the screen glue at the sides and also to soften the battery glue when removing it and it will be a whole lot easier. You may need to warm it more than once

When putting in your new battery inside your phone, forget sticking those sticky plastic strands on your battery. It will only make it more difficult to remove in the future. The sticky tape does absolutory nothing as the battery can't fall out of the phone, once the screen is closed.

Thanks for clear and useful video! The battery I replaced seemed to have no pull tabs, so I cautiously pried it out with a plastic pry tool, and that worked. When you reassemble, check that the two metal tabs that secure the pentalobe screws didn't get bent when you were prying off the screen. One of mine got bent and the screw wouldn't engage, until I opened the phone again and straightened that tab.

This was really helpful -- thanks! Some notes: Amazon sells lots of iPhone 6s batteries with all the tools and adhesive -- ranging from about $15 to $25. Note the batteries' power ratings, though. The battery that came in your iPhone 6s is rated at 1750 mAh. Most of the Amazon batteries claim to be rated higher (for more hours of battery life after a charge). Ratings I came across: 1750, 2200, 2300, 2350, 2600. Most user reviews are positive, in any event -- hopefully the ratings aren't BS. (I replaced my phone's battery with a 2350 mAh model for $19 -- but hadn't noticed the power rating differences when I purchased it -- battery seems to work fine so far. Just purchased a replacement for my wife's iPhone 6s and found one that claims 2600 mAh for less than a dollar more. By the way, I inclined phone screen back beyond 90 degrees while working on it -- probably to 100 degrees or so -- and it still works fine.

Those tiny screws are so delicate it's unbelievable. I recommend practicing on an old phone first and make sure you have the right tip or you'll strip the head so fast it will make your head spin. Then you're most likely "screwed." Now I have to take the phone into a shop and have them use a tiny tiny technical drill to get the stripped screw out.

Even though I followed the good instructions but one of the tapes broke and left me with the ugly fix. Not surprising the same one that broke in the video. That tape sticks man. No easy task to remove. I purchased a kit that contained the battery and tools plus replacement tape all seen in the video. Don't under estimate the value of that suction cup. It made getting started, the case to part initially a god send.

WARNING: My battery IGNITED on fire when I was replacing it. One side of the tape did not remove by pulling the tab, so I was doing the "pry of shame". I must of been prying too hard because I suddenly saw smoke and before I knew it the battery ignited on fire. I had no choice but to get back and let the battery burn itself out. Could of caused serious injury as the battery was only about 1 foot from my face when this happened. My advice is to pay the $80 and let an apple technician do the replacement. But if you insist on doing it yourself, then be EXTRA careful when removing the battery and use a heat gun or blow dryer to warm up the stick tape before trying to pry the battery out.

I just had the battery replaced in my iPhone 6S yesterday. Got this phone in 2017 and the battery lasted until 2 days ago when it died and wouldn’t come back on. The battery has needed replaced for about a year now but I just kept putting it off until it died. I didn’t replace it myself because I feared I would screw it up and then I lose everything on it forever and have to buy a new $1000 phone. Good thing I didn’t try it because I would have screwed it up guaranteed. Now I know how it was done. Now this phone is good for a few more years. Now that I know it’s safe I need to get the battery replaced in my old iPhone 5C as I have old photos and text messages on it I can’t lose.

If it helps, you can save all your really important photos to the cloud, so if you ever break your phone, when you get a new one, you can still recover them all even if your old phone is literally totally un fixable (:. Also as for the text messages i believe you can screenshot them by pressing the home button and the top turn on/off button and the same time. Hope this helps for the future.

The best method is actually doing both prying and also removing the strip while prying it up a little bit at the same time. if you try to do it without prying 90% of the time the strip will tear. you just have to pry the sides up enough so you can slide the tab underneath it

The iPhone 6 is not unofficially water resistant. Both my wife and I have had to service our iPhone 6's because water got splashed on them and the power buttons stopped working. If you look at the video above, you can see there is nothing to stop water from seeping into the phone via the buttons or the power connector and headphone jack. There's no gasket or seal of any kind. If you dropped your iPhone in liquid and it didn't break, you got lucky, nothing more.

If you have to force the battery out, don’t go too deep and cut the volume rocker cable (my mistake due to my excitement as i did the wrong way and followed the video religiously without noticing the parts below when i forced the battery out). i reflected on my mistake cuz i only managed to pull one tab out earlier (with difficulty) then it dawned on me that Jerry could have made it easier to change the battery by unscrewing the haptic engine just beside the sticky tape tab before pulling out the sticky tape. That would make the pull tabs so much easier to pull off and that made plling the other tape out easily.

This was super helpful but took me quite a while because the screws are the smallest screws on the planet. Make sure you take them out and keep separated because there's a longer one for small rectangle lid that covers the battery connector. And as someone else mentioned, connect battery without strips first to make sure it fits right while connecting ribbon, before sticking it down. The tiny screws were a pain, even with glasses on I could hardly see them! lol Had a heck of a time just opening the phone But patience paid off - good luck!

Had my iPhone 6s since 2017. Just installed my new $22 battery. Works brand new like it did in 2017. You wont catch me paying 1 grand or whatever for an IPhone 20 (or whatever number the current one is) or any other phone. BTW, you dont need to disconnect the screen for battery replacement. Replace battery while screen is opened at 90 degrees angle. To prevent screen or screen cable damage, rest screen on a wall or something.

Watch the Bear Grylls episode on how to survive when lost if you have a mobile phone. See how he creates a huge fire with the battery. Just stick a hole in it, once it comes into contact with air it will burst into fierce super hot flames like a furnace. Phone batteries are so dangerous. These guys making these videos should mention that. Someone's house can get burned down due to it.
