Hi I have an iPad Pro 12.9 motherboard (working) without a home button (Touch ID)which I’m going to use to change a motherboard of a non working iPad Pro 12.9. Can I reuse the home button from the damaged one on the working one?? I know the Touch ID won’t work but will it function just as a home button?? And will I get any problems with errors when restoring?? Many thanks jay

I did the same thing with an iPhone 6s Plus it works as a home button but mine was later updated and then was in the Apple logo loop because it couldn’t recognise the home button

You need to keep the original home button from the original screen to keep the touch id

Same here. The touch ID and the speaker stopped working. I feel that the iPhone 7 and up are designed to not be worked on by us.

@@nikkigolightlygames you have to be very bad at being gentle to damage the home button,. it is an easy plug and play while transfering it from a screen to the other

Hansana W correct severing original the adhesive greatly weakens the seal...I'm betting this could be carefully replaced.

Well considering if your watching this video and have a smashed phone screen it's already not water resistant lol so ur in the same boat so why not have a new screen lol... also when I repair my iPhone 7+ I'm gonna use a water resistant glue to reseal and will let you all know how it goes

Incomplete, you have to take the camera off too. The camera and home button are the most intricate parts of the replacement. Without either your phone is completely useless.
