I just finished my battery replacement. I heated the back of the phone with a hair dryer, I needed a sharper metal prying tool to start the separation process then used the plastic tool. I did not remove the screen, I was careful not to put pressure on the ribbons and left the suction cup on to hold up the screen so it did not try to separate from the body very much. I did not remove the taptic machine as in other videos. That saved a lot of time. Trust Me the fewer screws you remove the better!! They are the size of a grain of sand and require a very steady hand to reinstall!!! Extremely easy to lose drop or misplace! My inner tape strip broke off at the start point so I pried up the battery at that end (from the outside) to regain the grip and pulled it right out. The new battery works great.

Yeah, I remember shitty products. They still exist, ask for ‘Android’. It would need to be about 5 years old though, because every slimeball Android manufacturer has copied Apple on this, but only after years of touting their craptastic ‘removeable battery’ models. They must. Copy. Apple. They have no choice.... it’s what they do.

A number of these steps are not necessary if you're careful. You don't need to separate the screen from the base, just prop it up like an open book with something supporting it on the back so the screen doesn't lay flat (to protect the ribbon cables) and take your time pulling the adhesive out. I've done this repair twice now; the second time I didn't even remove the taptic motor; I just took the screws out and left the ribbon cable connected while carefully moving it out of the way as I pulled the adhesive out. Easy.

Ridiculous. They design it like that on purpose so when you're battery degrades, they try to force you into buying a new phone or buy a boatload of new tools and break the phone while trying to replace the battery. They'll never convince me they can make a phone that does almost anything, but they can't make a goddamn battery compartment in the back that you can open up and unsnap the old battery and snap a new on in. The corruption from these big companies is out of control. As consumers, someday we need to have the guts to put our feet down and say ENOUGH!

If the battery shows 50% then it's normal. 50% is the most balanced state the battery could be in and that's where most manufacturer ship their phone with. But if your battery health is 50% then something must be wrong.

This was poorly edited for repair, after every removal the cut would happen during removal instead of showing what the area looked like after. Even a split second would have been fine. I had an issue with a missing stand off (that wasn't apparent at first), and couldn't tell even trying to freeze the frame in this video.

I wonder why Apple made it so difficult. Couldn't they build in the ability to swap out batteries and maybe go with micro SD memory cards?
@czdaniel1
@czdaniel1 7 жыл бұрын
Yes...or maybe "kind of." A battery mounted from the outside of the phone won't be as tightly contained and therefor efficient for when it comes to passing kinetic energy (knocks) through the battery. Over time, that will stress the electric and physical connection between the battery and the phone-body. And at some point there will occur that fraction of a mm gap possibility that will grow worse over time causing the phone to need to be turned back on and all your unsaved data entry lost. For a luxury product brand like the iPhone that really should be unacceptable. (I can't believe I'm saying that because I generally think of Apple as a horrible company that hither to today I thought they had started soldering batteries to boards so as to force a total new phone replacement when the battery dies)

DO NOT DO ALL THESE STEPS. JUST OPEN GENTLY AND REMOVE THE BATTERY POWER CABLE AND PULL THE ADHESIVE TAPE. I followed the steps and backed up the video to ensure I put everything back as it was. Now, all I get is the Apple logo to come on and shut off. Nothing more than that. I guess I killed my phone. UPDATE: I went back into my iPhone 7. Loosened some of the screws. The phone comes on but the home button is dead. I did a restore & reinstall and still the home button is dead. It still does not work as it was before.

When I see how the touch screen is being removed, it makes me feel uncomfortable. Somehow I don't want to mess with sensitive items like this. I mean Apple could have designed the phone in a different way, to avoid removing the touch screen. Remember old mobile phones (2000 to 2008), there it was still so easy to replace the batteries without using any tools.

If you look closely, a lot of what is removed in this video does not actually need to be removed. The same can be said for the iPhone 6 battery. Literally all that "needs" to be removed is the bracket holding the battery in place, which in this case are the 4 screws, (2 with IPhone 6 models and a different style battery ribbon bracket). With that being said you must be very very careful when removing the adhesive and battery as it's quite strong. Replacing the batteries on these phones is not hard, and honestly taking your time and being careful are the two best things you can do.

No one on earth has a bad battery on the 7 yet. It's existed for two weeks. Also, doing this yourself voids the warranty, you know, the one that would STILL BE ACTIVE if you all didn't suggest it was ok to open their device themselves. A year from now? Sure, do it.. no warranty to void.

This is such a lie. There is absolutely no way you can create a gap to pry the screen open using the suction cup. The cup just pops off when you apply force and does absolutely nothing to create a gap. Why do you make videos like this? Trying to force a plastic smuger in there is also absolutely useless. You must use a hard, thin blade, like a utility knife to wedge your way in. This will scratch up the paint along the edges. I have have found no way around it. They also don't cover replacing the waterproof seal which is an absolute must. Why doesn't someone come up with a video that works?
