IF YOU NEED THE iPHONE 7 PLUS screen repair video: • iPhone 7 Plus Screen R...
Phones break. Cant always avoid it. This video shows I replace the screen on my own iPhone 7. Its always easier to repair something after you know what to expect, and you've seen it before. Remember you attempt ALL repairs at your own risk.
The iPhone 7 is a tricky phone to work on. It opens up from the side, instead of the top, and the ribbons are SUPER fragile. The Home button is also fragile, as many people attempting this repair have not been successful in swapping the home button to a new device. I will keep you updated on what causes that here in this video description.
The camera I used to film this video: amzn.to/1IjlaCD
The Lens I used for this video: amzn.to/1QOXDw2
And this Metabones adapter: amzn.to/1R7Ltic

For those of you wondering: yes, there is an extra non-mentioned screw appearing at 3:41. It wasn't mentioned in the disassembly because it held nothing important. Just know that most kits don't arrive with screws so take note of removing this one too. You can do it as you reassemble everything.

@@SahilKumar-kv5ki that is normal, it is stuck on by adhesive. Very VERY gently try to pry it off using the point of a spudger. That is what I did. After slowly going under it and gently wiggling around a bit the adhesive was removed and my home button could be slipped out.

Thanks for a quick and straight to the point, well explained, step by step tutorial. Helped me with my iphone screen replacement! No issues here apart from the fact the screen went blank on my after installation. Turned out it's recommended you unplug the battery before you disconnect the old and connect the new screen. There are people who got backlit IC fry (whatever that means). Luckily my procedure went without major problems :) Thanks again!

Hi Jerry. Thanks for the video! I have replaced several screens now and learned the hard way. When pressing the new screen down into the frame, it is pretty risk-free to turn the phone over onto a hard flat and clean surface, and press the frame onto the screen rather than vice versa. This way you dont risk cracking the screen. Yes, I place an old screen protector over the new screen so I dont end up w/ scratches!

Jerry, I purchased the Triwing or Y-tip bit set you suggested off of Amazon by going to the link you provided. The Y000 bit worked for 4 screws and after that it wouldn't for any more. I was afraid I was going to ruin the heads of the rest of the screws if I kept on trying to loosen the rest. I think the metal on the bit set is not very good, it easily wears down. I looked again on Amazon and carefully read reviews and checked the star ratings. I found two drivers with the correct Y-tip end on each. I purchased both of them. Each of the two drivers worked great, even on the screws that the heads were slightly damaged. I just thought I would let you know about the quality of the bit set you suggested. I am not upset with you at all. I really enjoy your videos a lot. I have viewed them many times and you have been a lifesaver. You do a great job, keep up the good work!

JerryRigEverything I do like what hear about Google assistant so the Pixel sounds really cool 😎 And the v20 looks great too (though lacking an amoled) . I just wish either one could have been a little more water resistant. I have 3 little kids running around and they have a tendency to spill more than they make into their mouths so it's pretty important. I'm leaning more towards the S7 Edge now especially since I already copped a Gear VR for the kids and they barely got to play with it. Just bummed because I could've upgraded to the Edge back in April if that is the phone I wanted but instead I waited months for the Note just to get screwed in the end.

I just finished the installation and I would say it went almost perfect, let me explain. So with the thermal backplate, some of the screws wouldn't go back in but I got most of them in. I lost like 3-4 screws but I got all of what I think is important screwed in. What I didn't get screwed down was the plates that hold down the wires but hopefully, that is not that bad. My home button works, the camera works, and speakers work. So it didnt go to bad...

Hi highly do not recommend using magnets for screws especially when repairing a phone. There are screws of a different lengths and diameters and if you mix them, you'll never by able to figure out where which belongs. Clean your work desk and lay the screw in the shape like it is in the phone. Then you will have your screws or other parts organised and be able to put everything back in it's original place.

Just did this repair, little harder than it looks(as expected), First the screen is VERY hard to get under with the metal pry tool, I had to heat my phone up with a hair dryer first, after that It was easier to cut into it, also the home button ribbon cable is glued down just like the sensor's at the top, hope this helps someone else.

@NubianP6

OverKnight 52 I haven’t actually opened my iPhone 7 yet, however, in the past when I’ve repaired iPhones or iPads, I have noticed that there sometimes seems to be a black “adhesive ring” around some of the screws. If you notice this, maybe you could try to *carefully* use some sort of small, sharp tool to kind of “pick” a bit of the adhesive away.

Just watched your video and it was super helpful! My new screen works great. Also, just a tip for other folks new to your video tutorial: When I first reattached the connectors to my new screen and performed a 'test run' (prior to screwing in the shielding brackets), as you suggest in your video, my phone didn't turn on. I was totally disappointed, but decided to just move forward, screw in the brackets, and finish the project. Lo and behold, once the phone was fully assembled, it turned on fine. So I'm glad I didn't stop at the testing step.

Hey Zack, just wondering how you organize your screws? Could you maybe to a video about it?
@MavTA66
@MavTA66 7 жыл бұрын
Whenever I do something like that, I draw a sketch of whatever I am repairing at the moment. Then, when I take the screws out, I place them on the exact location on my sketch of the part and fix them there with little piece of tape. That way, you always know where they belong. If you have a lot of screws, you can also lable them on the sketch, so that you know which one you took out first. When putting everything back together, just put them in in reverse order. Hope that helps :)

Find (on the web) or take a picture of your open iPhone 7. Print, and put some putty on each place for every screw you need to take out. Now you're safe.

to organize your screws, take a piece of tape - I use painters tape- and roll it so it sticky on all side. place the tape on your table around your phone. when you take off a screw, place it on the tape on the same side of the phone where you took it off

Jonas Røssum you just buy a special plate or draw a template of what you working on and put them accordingly to exactly where they would go maybe on a sticky tape this way they wouldn’t move

I fixed my nieces iphone 7 using this video. It really helped. I just want to recommend to buy the tools recommended here. I ordered a new screen with tools but the Y tools that came with it were not made very well and I had to strip some screws but ordered these tools recommended here and they worked great. Also just want to recommend using a magnet to hold your screws so they dont get lost. I used the flat refrigerator magnets businesses usually give out for free or that come with new phone books. Thanks.
