Why just replacing the "home" button with any other button will not work as a result. This is because your original home button connected to the motherboard at the factory where your iPhone was assembling. This done for security reasons, and no one else could hack your smartphone by replacing the button. If just replace your original home button with any other buttons, the Touch-ID function will not work.
But there is one way how to get the working home button, that is, a button that responds to a press and returns to the main screen, without having to solder anything.
This home button identical to the original button. The only drawback of this button is that Touch-ID will not work. This button is also universal and works on iPhone 7, 7 plus, iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 plus.

Touch ID will only work with the original home button as their programmed to its original logic board. A replacement button will only work by using passcode as Touch ID will be disabled

Its because of the turtle ic chip that is on the ribbon cable, they can be easily damaged while removing.

I just replaced the screen on my iPhone 8 and transferred my home button. Fingerprint works fine...not sure why others say the lose fingerprint functionality with a screen change....I didn’t

It won’t work if new home button is installed is what they mean by no Touch ID. What you did is the perfect method as the home button has a chip that is programmed to only work with it’s original logic board

I Have a 6s Plus Iphone, if I remove it and put it to the Iphone 8, is it the same size and will touch id technically work since it is the Official Home button but from an older device

Charlotte Taucher sorry for late reply but the logic board carries all the information of the phone so if you change the logic board and don’t have the original button than the button probably won’t work

Some sketchy repair shop broke my home button cable and I took it to another one that does microsoldiering but they told me there’s no way to repair the damage. Does anyone know how much does it cost for Apple to repair or replace my phone for a new one? (Phone is out of warranty btw)

They will charge you 399 for the button only and that sit even out if warranty. With Apple care $99

Iphone is laughing right now knowing if you broke your screen and cant get fixed the way it before so u stuck with an ugly iphone or you have to purchase a new one or upgrade a new one...apple taking advantage of people this way.
