I’ve had a ton of questions about the Minn Kota iPilot Link, how the iPilot link works with the Humminbird sonar fish finders and how to use iPilot link recently so I decided to make this quick video covering everything you need to know about iPilot link in a quick and simple to follow video.

Just bought the i-pilot upgrade to i-pilot link from the i-pilot. Hope to install the switch and i-pilot upgrade this weekend. I think this will have a huge impact to our fishing. I suspect we will use the 'follow the contour' feature and spot lock quite a bit.

Trying to understand the GPS offset between selecting a sonar spot and spot locking over it. if I select a piece of structure on my helix, the GPS location is going to be generated from the hummingbird unit? so if my transducer is 10 feet away from the unit the structure is 10 feet away? then if I hit spot lock is it using the GPS generated from the minni kota motor head or the unit to find that coordinate?

I have the Ipilot link and 2 Humminbird units my question is are you able to set waypoints from the console with one Antena or Min kota puck or do you also need a humminbird Antena to go on the back of the boat?

Hi, I have the new Solix12 and a terrova 112 iPilot. I can not find the cable to link them online. There is a 4 prong female connection on the terrova. Any idea what I should be looking for?

Can you have one HBird fishfinder with the capability of switching between the transducer that it's shipped with it and a Minn Kota tm transducer? Thanks, Keith

Unfortunately I don't use it enough. You just reminded me about contour lines. I liked using the feature when I got this unit a year ago. I have a Helix 12. Thanks!

@@Catfishedge and it worked. Was at lake with a slight breeze and spot lock was on -1. The wind came up and reset to +2. Straightened it out. And did the reverse when we entered a cove a little more protected from wind.

what size shaft on trolling motor did you use on your procat 240?

I use mine mostly to follow contour, when fishing walleyes or any other fish that swim in schools, the reverse feature is a simple way to follow back after a fish is caught, many times that can result in another or more bites as you can go axactly over the same path

I have my heading sensor/external gps located near/above transom transducer for mega and 2D so that when marking fish the waypoint is as accurate a position as possible. When I the utilize ipilot link on my ulterra to go back and spotlock I would be using the a GPS receiver on the bow mount, so it actually does not travel back to the exact spot of my first waypoint. Is that correct, ie the ulterra using it’s built in gps antenna??? My ipilot often holds about 20 feet off when trying to spot lock on old waypoints. It is a 2016 model, perhaps the controls are better now. I plan to upgrade this year to newer version.

On the verge upgrading from i-Pilot to i-Pilot link. My question is with the sonar on the trolling motor. Can I use that and the transducer on my transom on the same screen at the same time. Split screen???? 😉🥃🇺🇸

Besides following the contour lines, do you have to have the ZeroLine SD card in you Humminbird? Like to drag baits or suspend fish?

No you don't. The zero line card is for making your own maps with autochart

Yes I run helix 9 on front and a helix 12 at the wheel they will work but you have to use cursor and turn your trolling motor on with speed which is what I was missing until this video... I run the ulterra but should be good with any I Link.

Solix. Better resolution, touch screen and more advanced settings.

I have a hummingbird on my bow and I hate it. Literally get lost in the menus . I can touch my Garmin 3 times and I'm fishing. I couldn't get it to follow contours it was way off course. It has good 2 D sonar. Pretty frustrated with it. Just have it on my bow and drag it around because it looks cool.

The follow the contour line would be awesome if it were not the fact that I love fishing Lake Powell and the water keeps dropping.

Great video! I see your display is not displaying the water temperature, and you have "Temp (1)" selected as the source. I have the same issue. Does the supplied transducer not have a temperature sensor? I have not figured out the problem yet. Have you had any luck in this regard? I can display the temperature from my Mega Live transducer, but it isn't in the water all of the time.

@@Catfishedge I spent a couple hours on the phone with Humminbird Tech Support. For some reason my temperature was coming in on "Temp (2)" which is supposed to be assigned to the second transducer port (labeled 2kW/2D), which I do not have anything plugged into. My transducer is plugged into the first transducer port, labeled "2D/DI/SI/360." Long story, short, at the request of Tech Support I restored my Humminbird Apex to the factory defaults and it started to work correctly. I lost all of my "Favorites" (View shortcuts), but at least now I have my water temperature displayed. We are probably not the only ones to experience this problem. Maybe Humminbird will develop a fix for this in an upcoming software update.
