In this episode of the show, Stu and Raj review the past three days of IPL 2024 action - Rajasthan vs Mumbai, CSK v LSG and the most recent game between the Gujarat Titans and the Delhi Capitals = which saw 3 hundreds, a couple of thrillers and some results that could be hugely impactful come playoff time.
Recorded on 25 April, we discuss hundreds from Ruturaj Gaikwad, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Marcus Stoinis, plus the power hitting from the likes of Nehal Wadhera, Nicholas Pooran and Rishabh Pant in particular, who has been oh so impressive since returning from serious injury.
There are also shout outs for Sandeep Sharma and Shivam Dube, the regular 'Get MS Dhoni up the order' conversation and questions about CSK and Mumbai's title credentials - and how far the game has swung in favour of the batter in the death overs. Plus much more!

I feel that GT are cursed somehow, possibly the Hardik effect. Feel bad for Rashid and Shubman. Their heroics deserve more.

The IPL has been levelling up, clearly, because you never know when aliens land on Earth and challenge us to a 20 over game and the fate of humanity depends on being able to chase down 280+ . Clearly.

I get so much irritated with this Pant Praises. Guys i do expect a third eye into the data and facts when you do analysis. Come on we are investing one hour of our day into ur videos. Pant never attack or take risk against Good international bowlers, he just cherry pick the worst bowler and go after that guy. Pant scored 88 off 43 balls. Out of 88, 52 came against Mohit Sharma off 12 balls. Remaining 36 off 31 balls against Rashid Khan, Noor etc. Look at his 55 off 29 against KKR. 28 off 6 from Venky iyer. 27 off 23 from bowlers like Naraine, Varun Chakravarthi, Andre Russell. Do you see the pattern? There was no such bowlers to choose and go after in RR game. So what was his situation? 28 off 26.. What happened against SRH? No spin or nothing on the legs. 3 bowls on legs, 2 fours and one six. When the ball was outside off stump he really struggled.. Did i hear you ppl say he has shot all around the wicket? 95% of his big shots are on leg side. Those teams who bowled wide outside off stump restricted him. Also all his 50+ scores came on small grounds like Delhi, Vizag etc. Nothing on bigger grounds like Rajasthan, Delhi, Gujarat etc. In a smaller ground his miss hits goes for six where as in a bigger ground he holds out. Anyone can do a video on looking at the scorecard, but real deal is going into the small nuisances. Just pick Pant, Sanju Samson, Jitesh and play them against a world class bowler like Rashid Khan in a Big ground like Rajasthan or Punjab.. You'll get the reality check.. If you still don't believe me then just think why Pant avg 21 with a strike rate of 126 after 65 T20i..

Impressive dive into Pant’s numbers and great to have a counterpoint to discuss, but I’d push back a little to say that cherry picking matchups to target seems to be a big part of T20 strategy these days and to be delivering big overs in those moments is a good thing. A big factor of our praise also comes from the fact we didn't know how he'd return from injury, but we feel he looks like he's improved things like his decision making. Obviously still a wait and see when thinking about how this translates to the international stage but if we're thinking he'll continue to improve the further away he is from the injury then I think you've got to be pretty encouraged by what he's doing.
