My visit at the International Plastic Modelers Society USA National Convention in San Marcos, TX. August 2023 - and yes it was very hot! A little bit on what IPMS is, some overviews of this HUGE event and contest, plus the convention decal sheet.
3087 models in the contest! Need I say more? A few shots of some of my favorite subjects and models. This is modeling at its highest level. Come take a peak!

Great report on the show. I really wished I could have attended, but it was nice to watch your video. I like the idea of the convention decals, thats really neat! Thank you for sharing.

New subscriber - model shows will not only drive you insane with creative new ideas, they will increase your " stash" exponentially. I like your reference to the scales you build. This is probably the only model show that participants would have to bring in their models and dioramas packed in YETI coolers and dry ice to prevent them from melting. Reentering the hobby so I'm anxious to learn about all the new materials

@@PKWModelwerx three 1/72, Spitfires to get the skills and knowledge of materials back. I can never build enough Spitfires. After these going to graduate to some 1/48th Tamyia and Eduard. So far so good, the long winter will help. CHEERS FOR NOW.

Good video 🎥🏅. I agree with your opinion regarding overdone panel lines. The model starts to look more like a technical drawing of the subject, especially on 1/72 Airfix kits 😯. That's really cool of the group of modelers that finished Face's started builds. I think most deceased modelers stuff probably ends up at an estate sale, or worse yet, the trash can.

Thanks for the comment and I agree. I actually teared up seeing that display of Face's models, partly because I doubt I'll ever have a group of friends like he had. Must have been a helluva guy.

Thanks as always for the engagement Darrell. I was humbled and overwhelmed, as usual, at IPMS Natty! Brookhurst Hobbies in your neck of the woods has frequent contests. Look them up if you have any interest. I have made some long term friends at those contests. And that shop has all kinds of modeling supplies and inspiration, even for a model rail guy. Nothing like it here in Dallas.

Hi Bob that was pretty cool. I have to say the diorama of the plane crash was outstanding . Did you have a show favorite ?

Thanks for the engagement Jerry. I really thought the Saturn 5 was the greatest accomplishment. But Best in Show ended up being a 1/35th scale tank. The armor modeling community is VERY strong, and best in show is a popularity contest based on attendee votes.
