The last part where you explained how the ipv6 addrress into Network, Subnet and Host portions really helped me out. You basically saved me an hour of searching through cisco course to know that :)

Damn good video easy to understand. After watching 10 or so videos I finally understand how to look at IPv6 addresses. I'm on IPv6 right now in Beijing China, after setting it up I noticed the Great Firewall doesn't block KZfaq and Facebook for IPv6 users, I assume there are too few users.

Actually I used to think the leading zeros and zero compression methods of writing the address was "simplifying" it. But after studying IPv6 for a little while now, it actually gives you more stuff to learn and remember to do which adds another layer of complexity. In our haste to shorten and quicken everything these days we don't realize this, we think it makes it "simpler" when it is actually doing the opposite. All this method does is "shorten" when writing/displaying the address.And unless you are a programmer, if you are simply a network engineer like me I fail to see any practical reason to even care to convert to binary and back, and I definitely don't care about EUI-64 bit 7 conversion.

If we have 8 cluster of 4 hex values each, why do we have only 128 bits in the adress and not 512?
@oggiai

Because 8 blocks x 4 hex digits each x 4 binary bits per hex digit = 8x4x4 = 128.

I think even when ipv6 kicks in thus when our isp hands them out to us in abundance we will not be able to external them like port forward as this will be the security risk but nsa won't mind, that aside I say go and find some ipv4 documentation before the video's because ipv4 and 6 only similar in some ways mainly the binary hexadecimal formats but there's more to understand on the ipv4 world to then totally understand what ipv6 is all about, the end result is that an ipv6 address will seem like an ipv4 address but knowing the workings behind it will allow you to use it efficiently effectively allowing us to get better overall networking on our private and public side of the router, yes isp routers are crap but our systems have lots of ram and software such as virtual box to build advanced gns3 cisco networks within using both ipv4 and 6 on enterprise routers and switches in an emulated format which is as close to the had ware as anything else will get as the Cisco router images are official.. good luck.

SpaRtan KniGht985 To get IPV6 on the xbox one. I used a Netgear Nighthawk x6 and I've also used a Netgear Nighthawk x10. Under the advance tab, click on ipv6. By default, it's disabled (near top right of the page) select auto detect and most likely it will automatically select 6to4 tunnel. That fixed it for me. Be sure to give your xbox one a hard restart for good measure by holding down thr power button on your xbox one, until it powers off. Hope this helps. Happy gaming! 🎮
