hey benny , another great video . i would very much rather hear you talk and explain as you do the repair . i understand what you mean , if we all learn how to fix our own stuff it takes away from techs like yourself . being a service and installation tech for 43 years in the heating industry myself , i enjoy watching and listening to techs in all other trades doing what they do best , it's very interesting . at 60 years old , i still love to watch and learn about anything i can ..... it's good for the old guy's memory lol . i respect the fact that you are open enough to ask us (the viewers) for our opinion on your videos , and i thank you for that , but make sure at the end of the day you are happy with the quality of video that you produce . after all , i think it must be a lot of work to produce videos . sorry for the long winded message , and keep up the great work ..... thanks again bud ....

Hey man I was wondering if you’ve rebuilt an inlet valve to a ssr- up6-40. I’m wondering with no control pressure to the inlet valve if the puck inside is supposed to move easily with just hand pressure?
@carolineahleong-esera35559 ай бұрын
hey benny, you have some great videos and this being one of them. Have same compressor and seems like issue is with inlet valve not working, after 10secs of running pressure does not build up. Would you be able to send breakdown drawing for the valve or advise on how the valve operates, ie, open vs close?

I bought a up6 15cTAS 125 in a option . It has the same problem Inlet valve . It does run build full pressure but sometimes when restart you can hear is under load. There is oil in the air filter. I want to do a service but am confused about the oil level. Do it need to be half way of the glass when is off or when is running?

I did replace the gasket seals on top of compressor . Do you have any ideas of why it is getting hot ? I know they get hot but this thing gets red hot

I have a 15 hp IR rotary screw air compressor. When it gets up to operating pressure it shuts off. However the unloader valve leaks and the air compressor cycles within 40 seconds. It will run 40 seconds , then shuts off. It leaks down within 35 seconds and starts again repeating the sequence over and over. It will not hold pressure. I replaced the unloader valve and nothing changes. Any ideas?

Any suggestions for identifying an old compressor?
@bennycomptech39395 жыл бұрын
Tony harrell If you’re just trying to figure out what year it was made you can check the motors play with the information on it sometimes they put the year manufacturing date on it but it’s also not 100% reliable if the motor has been replaced
@MrJudges4u3 жыл бұрын
Benny, you still answering questions? I have air coming out the intake filter after the compressor reaches the 125 PSI threshold. I replaced the intake valve (thought the seal was bad). The air is still coming out of the intake filter. No oil is leaking frm anywhere. Any suggestions are much appreciated.

Hey buddy. So I had a horrible experience with an IR UP6-7.5. Customer was complaining that the overload was tripping and he had to keep resetting it. So I check capacitors and one of them had to be replaced. A week later same problem started. Pulled the motor had it taken to a motor shop and showed arcing on the centrifugal switch. New Switch and capacitors installed reinstall motor. also replaced suspected weak overload relay & start relay, also installed a new intake valve repair kit because it was sticking. Roughly a week later the machine was down again this time would not turn over by the time I arrived. Open up the panel on the capacitor side and one of them was completely exploded. The motor shop said that they did everything they could have, took the motor again to a different shop they tell me one of the windings has exploded. Needless to say there is a new motor coming but I'm worried that if I install it we will have some same issues. They have 230 volt single phase. Any ideas
@bennycomptech39396 жыл бұрын
TheSandler Your customer can possibly have what I call dirty voltage where at static voltage readings they have 230 but when the unit runs the voltage drops off causing higher amperage throughout the machine this is a big factor for any motor single phase or three phase failing prematurely as well as other electrical components or sometimes the customers power supplier doesn’t have regulated power and voltage changes throughout the day
@bennycomptech39396 жыл бұрын
What I would do if you have the tools to do it is do some data logging on the customers power if you know what that is

Good video. Do you answer questions?? We have a Quincy QSI245. Screw compressor.
@bennycomptech39396 жыл бұрын
FMBOSS is it a piston or screw? What seems to be the issue
@fmboss21916 жыл бұрын
It's a Quincy QSI 245 screw. It started out running up to 150 psi and activating the pop off valve. I discovered the air intake valve was stuck and corroded. I replaced all gaskets, seals and springs in same. I also cleaned out the pressure regulator (for air end), and unloader valve. Upon testing afterwards the unit would run up to pressure (125) unload way down to 50 psi and re load. It was dumping everything into the air intake via the blow down valve. I didn't think this was correct (it didn't work like this before). I thought the blow down was only when you turn the machine off. So I replaced the (125/110) pressure switch. Same thing happened. Checked the blow out valve, seemed to be tired although operating correctly. I replaced it anyway. New test run and still dumping lots of air into the intake when unloading. So it basically loads up to 125 lbs then unloads down to 75-80 lbs now. It cycles pretty fast like this. We inherited this machine back in 2014 and it never unloaded like this. It's "normal" mode back then was pump up to 125 and through plant usage lazily bleed down to 110 psi and reload. So, is it supposed to operate like this?? Dump all the air into the intake down to 80lbs and reload?
@bennycomptech39396 жыл бұрын
FMBOSS it depends on the manufacturer and model I’m not 100% sure with your unit but it does seem to be blowing out air from the inlet without oil coming shooting out of it as well it’s sounds normal of the machine. Now most machines that blow down from the inlet don’t do it as fast as you describe. If the unit is dropping the line pressure when it unloads it sounds like 2 things are going on. 1 I think you do not have the differentials set properly on the new pressure switch. 2 if your loosing line pressure as a result of the unit unloading pressure on itself and line you have a bad minimum pressure, this is basically a check valve on the machine. Without physically seeing the machine those are my best conclusions hope it was of help and good luck. If you need more help I would call the a local business who works on these or the manufacture usually manufacturers have free technical help over the phone.
@fmboss21916 жыл бұрын
The pressure switch factory setting was 125/110. I bench tested it and the differential. Acted as it should on bench. If I plugged the blow down valve, the unit cycled fine, differential and pressure wise. Line or plant pressure was not lost as fast. Check valve or minimum pressure vale tested ok. When I shut the machine down with the blow down valve plugged the plant service pressure did not back up into the unit. Benny, thanks for your help.
