Located in west Asia, Iran has eight foreign borders and access to the ocean through the gulfs off its southern coast. Most of the country’s 87 million people live in the northwest, where it's cooler on the steppes of mountains home to the highest peak in Western Asia-Mount Damavand. In 1786, this land became the 32nd capital in the history of Persia, closer to areas in the north that had fallen under the influence of Russia and Britain.
Iran is highly vulnerable to the climate change temperature rise of 1.8 degrees C - that’s one-and-a-half times the mean global rise of 1.2 degrees. Prolonged drought that’s decimated its water supply and turned thousands of villages into ghost towns as surrounding farmland goes dry.
Several major projects have been completed in the capital. Tehran now has the largest metro system in the Middle East. Six cent ticket prices and a daily ridership of 3 million are improving its terrible traffic and air pollution. Internet speed and penetration has increased 10-fold; Tehran’s new, integrated sewer and water treatment system is 90% operational; and it’s internationally-celebrated Tabiat bridge.
The current Supreme Leader is an 83-year old in questionable health guiding a regime struggling to contain protests led by women demanding full rights that are inspiring millions to demand a functioning economy.
I profiled London last time and am exploring Buenos Aires, Argentina next.

I love how this video continuously leaves out a lot of the key western involvement. Like completely leaving out that Khomeini took refuge in Paris and was supported by the west and the CIA and was flown into Iran by air france after western powers were salty that the Shah raised the oil prices. Very very convenient to just forget that the west brought Khomeini and this very same regime to power.

@steadyzz2371

I agree that the West had a big role to play here but the USA surely did not want this. The shah was already an American puppet and the Islamic Republic nationalized all oil. The USA also supported Iraq in the war very heavily.
@kiyanhakim384
@kiyanhakim384 Жыл бұрын
@@steadyzz2371 Edit: I reread your message and saw that you just said the US didn't want this to happen. I do apologise for the harsh comments, but yes you are right the US didn't want this to happen. Original: great you can think all you want when the facts are there. The Shah raised oil prices and turned away from the west leading to the first set of sanctions. You can read about all that. ( my father for example wanted to watch star wars in the cinema but Iran was sanctioned then ) . So no they had a fallout during the last years of the Shah. Then the western news in Iran started always pushing Khomeini. Add to it that Khomeini was harboured by the French and financially supported by the CIA (don't believe me? Look it up). Furthermore president Carter later admitted to it. The US brought this regime this is just a fact. They were the west's tool to stop the soviet sponsored communists who would have taken power else. Remember we were in the cold War. Khomeini then betrayed the US and stormed the embassy, prompting the hostage crisis. Now you can't just betray your sponsor and get away with it can you ? *dramatic music* Meet the Iraq war. Were the US sponsored Saddam Hussain, and supplied among other weapons also illegal weapons so that Saddam can Gas our people. It is irrelevant what people think in face with history. If you don't believe it you can search it up. This reminds me of when people start going like "but I don't believe the nazis could have killed 6 million jews" where the answer is, great , look it up and stop believing.

This was alright, but it did not address Tehran specifically, other than a pedestrian bridge. This addressed Iran's regime in general. The term Iran derives directly from Middle Persian Ērān, first attested in a third-century inscription at Naqsh-e Rostam, with the accompanying Parthian inscription using the term Aryān, in reference to the Iranians.[41] The Middle Iranian ērān and aryān are oblique plural forms of gentilic nouns ēr- (Middle Persian) and ary- (Parthian), both deriving from Proto-Iranian language *arya- (meaning "Aryan", i.e. "of the Iranians"),[41][42] recognized as a derivative of Proto-Indo-European language *ar-yo-, meaning "one who assembles (skilfully)".[43] In the Iranian languages, the gentilic is attested as a self-identifier, included in ancient inscriptions and the literature of the Avesta,[44][d] and remains also in other Iranian ethnic names Alan (Ossetian: Ир Ir) and Iron (Ирон).

The really fascinating question about our history is what alien intelligences played what role in each of our landmark historical events. Aliens from the Abyss have told me personally they played a role in the war in Ukraine for example. It's a question for future generations. if it can even be answered but we know now it's real.

Thanks for the fair and realistic report on Iran. Iran’s society has undergone a rapid and radical transformation during the past four decades, and it is not the same society as the one that made the 1979 revolution. Regime change is the only solution for the creation of a democratic Iran.

Commiserations to all Iranians for the World Cup, but know that people all around the world applaud the bravery of the women and men of Iran as you struggle to free yourselves from tyranny and to gain the dignity to make your own choices in politics and in life. I hope that, very soon, people from all corners of the Earth will meet in Tehran as you begin a new era as a full member of the community of nations.

I really wish this video wasn't just a bunch of rehashed political propaganda points. I would be interested in knowing about Tehran. How Ayotollah Khomenini came up, idk. I've seen videos about NY that don't mention Jimmy Carter.

@@absolutefolly2011 'Tyranny' lol. Life isn't a video game. Soviet propaganda spend decades teaching its citizens about the 'tyranny' Americans were under since our entire lives and government are controlled by un-democratic corporations. Maybe they're wrong, maybe they're right, but if that's the only thing you share about America to your citizens, isn't that it's self 'tyranny'? Isn't the narrowness of information you get about something a sign that you're under some type of involuntary tyranny? Iran is a suprisingly modern, suprisingly liberal, suprisingly democratic, suprisingly progressive and suprisingly well developed country. All a suprise because all we hear is pentagon propaganda points, so you'll never know these things. Again, this video can be 100% accurate, but what are you telling us and why? Like I said, I have heard about NY many times without need to mention Jimmy Carter. What is the point of hearing about Ayatollah Khomenini (his contemporary) in a video (and every video) about Tehran? Did he found Tehran? The title misled me to thinking I was going to learn about this city rather than US 'they like don't us' propaganda. Why not tell us the ups and downs of Tehran its self like other city videos.
