Hey, I just recently stumbled on a beautifully bound (and only slightly damaged) copy of the Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam (I think that is the same guy). What fascinating poety. I had never heard of him before, nd the book was only a dollar! Happy it is in my library now.

Have you been to Iran? What’s your perspective on Saudi and UAE? Are they not equally as bad as Iran for their Islamic system of governance? Or is it purely based off of proximity to the west and her allies

@@jamespires3383 While those two countries were not Mr. Zeihan's topic, from my perspective the UAE and Saudi are seriously flawed as well. I cannot speak from first-hand experience about Saudi, but having been to the UAE numerous times, the UAE is nowhere near as bad as Iran. Bear in mind that both the UAE and Saudi governments are monarchies and have been known to be repressive, Saudi in particular. Do I personally like the fact that our government is in bed with repressive governments? I do not, but the key term is "real politick." We do not have friendly countries; we have countries that have interest in common with us. Such is the case with the UAE and Saudi Arabia.
