*** Why Hunt Hogs? ***
My journey into wild/feral hog hunting started like many others living in rural communities. I didn't start hog hunting for fun or sport... I did it because I had to. My father-in-law started me on this path several years ago when he asked me to help out with a problem. You see, hogs cause millions of dollars of damage and destruction each year in rural communities and our situation was no different. Hogs were destroying our land, our family's land, and the land our family tree farming business. The vast majority of hunting videos that you see on this channel are hogs, boars and sows, taken from family land... this problem is personal for me. We have had hogs come as close as 20 feet from my front door, and having 2 small children at home and knowing how aggressive and dangerous hogs can be, getting rid of the problem was a safety concern. This is why when people ask how I got into hog hunting... my answer is always "I didn't get into it because I wanted to, I started doing it because I had to!". It's a personal fight and struggle...

*** Why Hunt Coyotes and Predators? ***
Coyotes and Predators, similar to hogs, cause financial stress for many families in rural communities. Coyotes kill livestock, plain and simple. Ranchers have battled coyotes killing cattle since the early days of ranching and it costs them dearly. Cattle ranching is a business, the cows aren't pets, every time they lose a calf to a coyote those families lose a paycheck. Cattle ranchers hate coyotes just as much as Farmers hate hogs! I hunt coyotes to protect the livelihood of my friends and neighbors that depend on their cattle business to feed their family...

Thanks for another great review. After using this and the XG50, which would you choose if these were the two scopes you interested in? The XG50 doesn’t seem to have the same image quality.

Great review! I always like seeing the coyote and cat footage. Been after a certain cat here but it has alluded me during season. I’m sure the first coyote set after cat season is over it will show.

@HansETX the stock mount could have been pretty good. My stock mount has the Weaver pattern locking bar insert instead of a picatinny width bar. Unfortunately I couldn't get the mount tight enough on the upper I wanted to run it on & that undersized locking bar allowed the mount to shift rearward under recoil. Im going to try to source a picatinny dimension insert. They have to exist or the lug would be integral instead of being a replaceable insert. I bought the ADM mount and it works but its a disappointment @ a premium mount price. Unfortunately its the only thing available right now because ADM cut corners pretty badly on it. It looks like its one of ADMs existing $80 2" universal mounts that they machined out the channel from Acog to Pulsar dimensions on. When they did that the QD lever side angle now only has 0.060" material at the base. The base of the optic still sits well above the channel because they couldn't machine it any deeper without completely running out of material on the QD lever side. That is design flaw a $250 mount should not have. Hopefully someone can talk a manufacturer already producing Pulsar N series and Trail mounts into changing the hole pattern to Iray's.

That is correct. Someone knows, and did their research. Id bet a bobro mount for a pulsar would fit and be a better option. Or a zrodelta dloc. Those adm mounts suck.

@@mattcureton my puksar mounts fit the Rico better than the ADM other than the hole pattern isn't the same. I contacted Bobro & offered the iray mount hols dimensions but they're not interested at this time. Id be more accepting if the ADM mount was under $100 like the mount is when they sell it for an acog. It seems like it is only 2 lines of code modification on an existing design but I doubt anyone currently manufacturing a decent Pulsar Trail mount will be excited to wade into industry politics & offer an iray mount for a while.

@@dzhitshard you can take a mount to any tool and die shop, or machine shop, and have them re drill holes to match the iray mount. Ive done it. When I realized that the nvision scopes used the trijicon mount footprint, I bought a used zrodelta acog mount, and a used bobro dual lever for a mkiii hunter. Took them to a tool and die shop, and had them measure the center bore axis of the mounting holes on my LR. Then drill holes in the mounts to fit that scope. Worked great. It was worth the effort. It cost me about $25 for them to drill 4 holes. But, they were exact. I ended up selling them with the scope. Anyways, it can be done. Im always looking for a better mousetrap.

@@mattcureton copy. I ended up buying a mill a while back mod and prototype on because I kept moving and finding a decent shop without shop minimum charges that worked for my needs. I have a couple acog mounts payed out to open up. My optic showed up the day before I left to go wring out the optic for a week or Id have sent the adm back & used one of my models

How do you honestly compare this image to the Halo LR? Because I’ve seen a video of the Halo LR X and with their newest additions I would pick the NVision based off of face value. Thank you

First of all thank you for watching. The Iray Rico MK1 is a great thermal optic with very good picture image. Like I said in the video I do believe that it's worth every bit of $6K. With that being said, I do believe that the N-Vision thermals are still the leader in the industry as it pertains to picture image. That may change someday but right now they are the gold standard.. I appreciate the question and comment.

For the Alpha magnetic charging while running the scope with an external battery bank is not an improvement. That’s just not a secure enough connection.

IMHO this feature has 2 advantages over a hard/secured plug. One is its on the bottom so it's not sticking out easily being snagged on something. Two if it does happen to come disconnected from getting it caught on something It won't break off damaging your thermal or breaking your cord which puts you out of commission having to send your scope in for repair. As well as if it does come disconnected you still will have a charge left and the scope will not shut off but will tell you you are disconnected so you can magnetically snap it back in. No problems. When it's broken off your done.

@@deanashburn7390 I have an ATN Thor LT and a pulsar RXQ30V and there is no comparison. The LT is nice but the Core crushes it for just a few hundred more.

If the company is out of Texas why does everything on the website say China? Even contact info is China. Setup kinda looks like a pulsar trail.
