Ok wow! I’m 67 years young and have been riding 60 years, so I’m an expert….not! I bought a beta 300 xtrainer and tripped across your channel three weeks ago. So I watched you ride and I’m blown away. I decided to take your 10 lessons. Static balance, easy right, nope. I tried it and gave up, lesson 2, super easy, not for me, clutch control yea no problem there but…actually I did manage to get it. So I gave up in general. I was watching your garage training tips the other night and you started fresh again but you said something so interesting. Guys say the’ve done it 100 times, they can’t seem to get it. I’m that guy, 5 minutes frustration and I gave up. Well not today, I went back out, in my backyard, nailed it after 10 minutes in the hole, then 15 minutes on the flat. I DID IT! Gonna do lesson 2 tomorrow, today I’ll keep practicing lesson one. Thanks so much for the skills and the entertaining lessons. My wife walks in to tv room, don’t tell me your watching that again, lol, life is for learning! My other bikes are husky 510, and a husaberg 450. I’m learning to ride all over again, but this time properly.

I think a big part is how well thought out the instruction is. whether thats from it being second nature to him or from years of teaching or how good the production team is, it’s definitely one of the best channels ive found for offroad riding techniques. i have a klx300 and only do the difficult single tracks in my area if the sign is missing or i took a wrong turn and videos like this are the main reason I can at least turn the bike around and get back to where I should be.

I've been a fan for a long time now, both of your vids and IRC tires. You have a teaching style unequaled by anyone else on youtube. Now this vid is next level. I wish it was available last march before i made my first pilgramidge to 5moh. The skills I developed with your help gave me the courage to try it. I struggled some on the record stack but managed to ride cleanly (mostly) from there to the crux and then the first bailout. Can't wait to see the upcoming episodes and then to go back to finish it. Thanks!

Great point about taking the time to re-set an approach rather than gas it and 'hope' for the best!! I do this a lot, doing so lets this older, less skilled rider work thru difficult sections without dropping the bike.

Hey Rich 👋, thanks for the video. You mention leaning the bike away from the hill and weighting the outside peg. The outside peg makes sense to me but I’ve thought about off camber as keeping the bike upright rather than leaning it away from or towards the hill. Wondering if that was a relative statement (lean it away more than you might think) or whether you actually have the bike past vertical?
@IRCTireUSAMoto
@IRCTireUSAMoto Жыл бұрын
The bike is staying vertical. The tendency is to lean into the hill. When I say lean away I mean vertical but… for most vertical feels away. If that makes since
@DanielACroft

Thanks Rich, yeah, that’s what I was thinking you meant but wanted to confirm. I’ve heard other coaches talk about leaning away and wanted to confirm. Looking forward to my next coaching session (so is Angela!).👍

@anttivillanen1762
@anttivillanen1762 Жыл бұрын
Hi Rich! First of all, thanks for all the videous. You are mine "online coach" :D What gear you use for this kind of obstacles? I was recently told in a Hard enduro training camp that 2nd gear is the driving gear and 1rst is just for pivots etc. I have a 13-51 gearing in my Beta 300rr.
@IRCTireUSAMoto
@IRCTireUSAMoto Жыл бұрын
13-51 on the beta would closer to second. I’m stock on beta gearing so I’m in first. That’s a tough question for me to answer because everyone’s different.

What, if anything, do you adjust on your suspension for this trail vs. your typical single track....thanks!
@IRCTireUSAMoto
@IRCTireUSAMoto Жыл бұрын
That’s a good question. So suspension is obviously relative. A single track setting for me would be much stiffer with more rebound dampening. For this trail, it would be closer to the opposite for comfort. That being said, there’s a lot of sharp edges and hard hits so there is a point of diminishing returns the softer you go.

@IRCTireUSAMoto
@IRCTireUSAMoto Жыл бұрын
I don’t know what you mean. Did you watch the video? I did both. Following the white line on this section is the easier line. If by one shot you mean doing it feet on.. it’s still the easy line.
@ruxtonnoble
@ruxtonnoble Жыл бұрын
@@IRCTireUSAMoto Yes, I watched the video. When you followed the trail you did it in three shots. You came up to the painted 90 degree right and reset the bike, then up to the 90 degree left and reset the bike. When you did it "clean" you turned 45 degrees, pulled the trigger, and totally straightened the trail. We would follow the paint with the right and left turns with no dabs - one shot.
@IRCTireUSAMoto
@IRCTireUSAMoto Жыл бұрын
The video is meant to be helpful for amateur riders experiencing this trail for the first time. They aren’t going to be no dabbing this section. I demonstrated that here. That being said what your talking about “no dabbing the white paint line” is still the EASY line. Not hard
